Sensesations Day Services Wows with "Summer Holiday"!
Sensesations Day Services brought sunshine and laughter to Sheffield yesterday with their delightful summer play, "Summer Holiday"!
The talented participants, with the support of the Sensesations team, put on a fantastic performance reimagining Shrek and Fiona's adventures abroad.
The audience, filled with proud parents and carers, was treated to a heartwarming story of family fun.
We saw Shrek and Fiona navigate the challenges (and joys!) of parenthood, with their adorable children adding a touch of chaos and cuteness. Donkey, of course, was there to provide comic relief and loyal companionship.
The performance was a testament to the creativity and dedication of the Sensesations team and the participants themselves. It was clear to see everyone having a blast acting out this beloved fairytale with a summer twist.
Congratulations to Kerry on completing her

We are all very proud of you
Well done 🥂🍾
Tickled Pink Brings the Swell Time to Sensesations Day Services!
On Wednesday, Sensesations Day Services had a blast groovin' to the sounds of the 50s with the amazing Tickled Pink! The talented dancers and singers brought the house down with their high-energy performance of classic 50's music numbers.
Our service users were completely tickled pink (pun intended!) by the show. They were up on their feet, dancing and singing along to all their favourite tunes. The interactive performance had everyone smiling and tapping their toes.
Happy pride month from all at Sensesation Day Services
Has anyone got any contacts for an ice cream van round Highgreen area?
The people we support have made forget me not cards to recognise World Dementia/Alsheimers Month.
The Symbol of Remembrance
The forget-me-not flower has long been associated with dementia awareness. Its vibrant blue color serves as a reminder of the importance of remembering those affected by this condition. We discussed the significance of the flower and how our handmade cards could bring a smile to someone's face.
More Than Just a Card
Creating these forget-me-not cards wasn't just about crafting beautiful keepsakes. It was an opportunity to show compassion and raise awareness. We discussed the importance of early detection, available support services, and the ways we can all play a role in creating a more dementia-friendly world.
Sensesations Day Services: A Week of Fun and Games!
Last week at Sensesations Day Services, we had a blast exploring our senses through a variety of fun and engaging activities! We spent the week focusing on different activities.
We kicked things off with a lively game of Guess the Song. We played short snippets of popular tunes, from classic rock to catchy pop hits.
We also challenged our auditory senses with a game of Guess the Sound. We played a range of everyday sounds, from the familiar (like a doorbell ringing) to the more unexpected (like a squirrel chattering). It was amazing to see how quickly everyone could identify the sounds, showcasing just how attuned we are to our environment.
Lastly we played Would You Rather?, We presented a series of silly and thought-provoking questions that had everyone weighing their options. From "Would you rather be able to fly or be invisible?" to "Would you rather have super strength or super speed?", these questions sparked lively discussions and helped us get to know each other a little better.
We have also made Eve's pudding which was more than just whipping up a tasty treat. It was a chance to connect with each other, create lasting memories, and celebrate the spirit of the season. We can't wait to gather again soon for another fun and festive activity!
We have also been creating erupting lemon volcanoes! It was a messy (in the best way!), educational, and all-around fantastic afternoon.
A person we support was also celebrating their 30th birthday last week so The highlight of the was singing Happy Birthday to them and the unveiling of the birthday cake.
Sweet Smells and Happy Tummies: Baking at Sensesations Day Services!
This morning at Sensesations Day Services, the aroma of warm banana and chocolate filled the air as our wonderful participants whipped up a batch of delicious banana chocolate chip muffins!
For many of us, baking is a sensory experience that brings joy, comfort, and a chance to create something delicious.
Here at Sensesations, we believe these experiences are valuable for everyone.
A Feast for the Senses
From the start, the bakers were engaged in the process. They carefully measured out the dry ingredients, feeling the soft flour and the sugar's satisfying crunch between their fingers. The sweet scent of ripe bananas filled the kitchen as they were mashed, creating a smooth, fragrant mixture.
Then came the fun part – the chocolate chips! The clinking of the bag and the sight of the dark morsels against the light batter brought smiles to everyone's faces. As they mixed the batter, the anticipation for the muffins to bake grew with every passing moment.
The Fruits (and Chocolate) of Our Labor
Finally, the moment of truth arrived! The golden brown muffins emerged from the oven, filling the room with an even more intense wave of deliciousness. The participants helped decorate the muffins with a sprinkle of extra chocolate chips, adding a personal touch to their creations.
But the best part, of course, was enjoying the fruits (and chocolate!) of their labor. The muffins were enjoyed with a warm cup of coffee or tea, creating a warm and social atmosphere in the Day Services center.
More Than Just Baking
Baking at Sensesations is more than just creating a tasty treat. It's about:
Sensory exploration: From the feel of the ingredients to the aroma of baking, baking engages multiple senses.
Life skills development: Measuring, mixing, and following a recipe are all valuable life skills that are practiced during baking.
Teamwork and social interaction: Baking is a collaborative activity that encourages communication and teamwork.
Building self-esteem: The sense of accomplishment that comes from creating something delicious is a great confidence booster.
We're already looking forward to our next baking session at Sensesations Day Services! Who knows what sweet treats we'll create next?

A Sugar and Spice Day at Sensesations!
Yesterday at Sensesations Day Services, the air was filled with the warm, inviting aroma of ginger and cinnamon – a sure sign of something delicious in the making!
Our fantastic team decided to whip up a batch of everyone's favorite festive treat: gingerbread!
The highlight of the day, without a doubt, was the mixing session. We gathered everyone around a spacious table, bowls brimming with flour, sugar, and that oh-so-special gingerbread spice mix. The anticipation was palpable!
The mixing, of course, wasn't a solitary activity! Bowls were passed around the table, each person taking turns to contribute to the creation of the perfect gingerbread dough. It was a symphony of laughter, flour-dusted aprons, and the satisfying squelch of dough being expertly mixed.
The finished product was a thing of beauty – a smooth, golden brown dough that promised the most delectable gingerbread men and women. We can't wait to see what creative shapes our participants come up with during today's decorating session!
Here at Sensesations, we believe that activities like gingerbread-making are more than just fun; they're a fantastic way to promote sensory exploration, teamwork, and fine motor skills. It's a day filled with laughter, delicious smells, and of course, the joy of creating something together.

Giant Fun and Learning at Sensesations Day Services: Snakes and Ladders Take Over!
Sunshine, laughter, and a touch of friendly competition filled the air at Sensesations Day Services yesterday!
We traded in our usual routine for a larger-than-life adventure with a game of life-size snakes and ladders.
More Than Just a Game: Building Skills Through Play
This wasn't just your average game night. The giant board, spread out across the activity area, provided a fantastic opportunity for the people we support to develop valuable skills in a fun and engaging way.
Movement and Coordination: Navigating the large playing field encouraged physical activity and coordination.
Social Interaction: Taking turns, cheering each other on, and sharing in the excitement of climbing ladders or avoiding snakes fostered a sense of community and social interaction.
Decision-Making: Choosing the best path across the board involved a touch of strategy and critical thinking.
The Joy of Success and the Importance of Participation
The highlight of the day was witnessing the pure joy on everyone's faces. Whether they landed on a coveted ladder spot or navigated around a sneaky snake, the sense of accomplishment and shared experience was heartwarming. But most importantly, everyone participated, regardless of their individual skill level.
Learning Through Laughter: Making Every Day an Adventure

Making a Splash at Sensesations Day Services: Pool Fun at Thorncliffe Leisure Centre!
Yesterday, the sun was shining, and the water was calling at Sensesations Day Services! We traded our usual routine for a refreshing dip at the fantastic Thorncliffe Leisure Centre.
A Day of Watery Fun and Social Connections
The pool provided the perfect setting for a day filled with laughter, exercise, and social interaction. Here are some highlights of our aquatic adventure:
Cooling Off and Having Fun: The refreshing water was a welcome escape from the warm weather. We splashed around, played games, and simply enjoyed the feeling of weightlessness in the pool.
Building Confidence in the Water: For some participants, this was an opportunity to overcome any apprehension about water and develop a sense of comfort and enjoyment in the pool environment.
Socialization and Teamwork: The pool provided a unique space for interaction and teamwork. We played water games, helped each other stay afloat, and shared moments of laughter and camaraderie.
More Than Just a Swim: The Benefits of Aquatic Activities
Swimming and water-based activities offer a range of benefits for adults with additional needs:
Improved Physical Health: Aquatic activities provide a gentle yet effective form of exercise, promoting muscle strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular health.

Sensesations Day Services: Empowering Financial Awareness Through Play!
At Sensesations Day Services, we're passionate about equipping the people we support with the skills they need to thrive in everyday life. Yesterday, we embarked on a fun and interactive activity to introduce financial awareness – and it involved a bit of pretend shopping!
Learning Through Play: The Power of Simulation
We all know that learning can be most effective when it's engaging. So, instead of a traditional lecture on money, we decided to create a simulated shopping experience. We gathered everyone and used real printed money (think play money!). Each item in the "store" had a price tag clearly displayed.
Making Choices: Recognizing Value
The people we support then took turns acting as shoppers. They browsed our "selection" of items, picked what they liked, and then identified the correct amount of money needed to pay for it. This involved carefully matching the value on the price tag with the corresponding denomination of play money.
More Than Just Numbers: Building Confidence
This seemingly simple activity proved to be a powerful learning tool. It wasn't just about recognizing numbers; it was about understanding the concept of value and making informed choices. As participants successfully "paid" for their purchases, a sense of accomplishment and pride filled the room.
Building a Foundation for the Future
Financial awareness is a crucial life skill. Through this fun and interactive activity, we provided the people we support with a foundation for understanding money. This empowers them to make informed choices in real-life scenarios, whether it's managing allowances, making small purchases, or even saving towards a goal.
Join Us!
At Sensesations Day Services, we believe in fostering independence and building confidence. If you'd like to learn more about our programs or how you can get involved, please don't hesitate to contact us on 01143037273
