For those who are awaiting exam results today and don't get what they expected, school is not for everyone.
At school, I was not engaged, it was not the environment I thrived in, and I did not achieve the results I wanted.
After leaving school, I engaged in work, college, uni, and was respected as an adult in further education, where I started again.
I have achieved Counselling and Teaching Qualifications, Clinical Supervision Qualifications, and worked hard in the NHS and the Charity Sector. I attained supervisory and management roles and then built my own business.
Don't look back....keep going 🤩

A Journey of Life & Loss

A Journey of Life & Loss Helping you navigate your individual loss and grief journey whilst learning to enjoy the here and now
As part of , it's encouraging to see people engaging in meaningful conversations on social media.
Talking and listening are difficult skills to master, but they are crucial when it comes to supporting someone's mental health. Have you ever felt truly heard by someone who gave you the time to express how you feel?
Here are my top three tips for starting a conversation:
1) Instead of asking 'how are you?', try asking 'how are you feeling today?' This can help to focus the conversation and make the question feel less overwhelming.
2) Ask the same question twice. The first answer might be 'I'm fine,' but the second answer might reveal how the person is really feeling. Opening up that conversation could make all the difference.
3) Don't be afraid to ask someone if they are feeling suicidal. By taking the stigma out of this question, you can help them to talk about their struggles and get the support they need. Sometimes not talking can be more of a risk.
Let's continue to keep the conversation going this and beyond. Remember, it's okay to not be okay. If you or someone you know needs support, signpost them to resources that can help.

It's the weekend and the sun is shining. I hope that whatever the weekend looks like for you, there is time to rest and recoupe.
Burnout is much harder to come out of once you get there. Know your normal... rest helps us stay mentally healthy, productive and helps us to be our best to support ourselves and others. We sometimes forget that, so here's a gentle reminder to rest when you can this weekend and soak in that natural Vitamin D from the sunshine.
Take care.

Losing a pet is devastating.
Pets are our family, our companions, and often give us such a sense of purpose.
Losing a pet can make us feel such difficult feelings and emotions, just like a human bereavement. When I lost my beloved pet I was so comforted by the fact that so many people reached out to say how sad it was to hear, and what a difficult time they knew I was experiencing. I write this as this is not always the case for everyone.
I do hope employers, colleagues, friends etc. all start to understand how pet bereavement can be a huge loss and has a huge impact on our lives.
If you have been affected by pet loss and need support Blue Cross have an amazing helpline. Link below, take care, Kirsty x

Are you having a week like me?, I've had a week of worrying if something new that I've written is going to go well in practice, when I use it.
Overthinking can really stop us from enjoying our free time and end up having endless hours worrying instead of being productive, or being able to relax.
Here's some useful advice that I find helpful.
