Happy Monday from Broomcroft House

This morning, residents practised their knitting, and some started patterns that we looked through online. We are working on making bobble hats and vests! It's a great start to the week, well-done, ladies!

Every week, we have a Reading club where Heidi reads the book, and residents all follow along with their own copy. It's a great way to read without total concentration, and residents can just listen. Using a microphone also means the residents with hearing problems can hear, and it's accessible to all. We have recently started Animal Farm by George Orwell, a fascinating book; residents enjoy following the story each week.

Yesterday was National Cheese Day, and we celebrated it the right way with a cheese and wine evening with residents and relatives!
Our lovely chef Barnsley made an excellent cheese board with crackers, cheeses, celery and grapes, wine and non-alcoholic wine, shloer and lemonade.

I hosted a cheese quiz, a great idea from Debbie. Everyone got into teams, and we did 10 rounds all about cheese! Surprisingly, we all knew much more about cheese than we had imagined!

They used a sea and rock-themed template and collaged the colours of the ocean with different shades of blue paper. In the next session, we will move on to creating the rocks. They did fantastic. This morning, the ladies at Broomcroft participated in an arts and crafts session I ran! Our arts and crafts session began with a warm introduction from all, including our new members.

This created a positive and inclusive atmosphere, enhanced by the nostalgic tunes of 1950s swing hits, fostering a sense of community among us.

We made paper roses with pipe cleaners as the stems. Residents got stuck in and tried hard as it was pretty fiddly. It was great stimulation for the brain for motor skills, creativity, and a lovely social life. A charming and successful Friday morning!

Good Morning,

Broomcroft will hold a day of music events for BUPAFEST on Tuesday, the 18th of June.

If you have a musical talent, whether it's singing or playing in a band, we invite you to volunteer for a half-hour set on the day. This is a chance to showcase your skills, connect with fellow musicians, and bring joy to our residents.

It will be fantastic for more community members to come in and participate and come along, too.

Please drop an email to [email protected] if you are interested!

I can't wait to hear back from you!
Many thanks

Heidi :)
