Peaceful Pause
time and space out from your busy day
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace
there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly
and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself
with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater
and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well
as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery
But let this not blind you to what
virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity
and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life
keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery,
and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy. ~Max Ehrmann

Life can be busy. We press on, making sure our world turns outwardly for others . Sometimes though, we are overwhelmed internally and cant stop or reflect or look for another alternative. Slowly that builds up. Why not take time out, stuff will get done and if its important it still will be in 5 mins, but surprisingly a reflection shows what is not really urgent. Try taking some time for you . Build it into your day.
This week is all about breathing!
yes we all do it and most of us are pretty good at it.
It wasn't until breathing in everyday activity became really hard due to a Heart condition that I realised how important it is to notice our breath..
Practice when we can builds the process and adds so much to our physical and mental health.
In our sessions we will always add to the skills to add to the Pause for Peace toolkit.
Breathwork can be be initiated anywhere at any tome for as long as you wish. I often take a few mindful repetitions at the school gate to fill my lungs and lower my heartrate and gain some grounding after a brisk walk. I will often just use a Triangle Breath.
Inhale through the nose, expand ribcage, expand abdomen, feel the breath in the lower chambers,
pause for a short while, a count of 1 or 2 or more
Exhale through the mouth slowly slowly pulling in the abdomen.
repeat, 3-5 times is ideal.
then return to a normal breath pattern but be aware of it, the feeling in your nostrils, warm/ cold? where can you feel it? are the inhales longer or shorter than the exhales or the same?
the whole practice can be just a few minutes but the impact much much longer. Everyone can find some time, have a go this week!
All about Peaceful Pause
Do you sometimes get overwhelmed or exhausted at what life is throwing at you right now?
Do you crave a little time just for you?
Do you want to learn more about an accessible new fusion approach to Mindfulness, Meditation and Breathwork?
Then Peaceful Pause is meant just for you.
I am Mandy, based in beautiful Taunton in Somerset UK. I have had my share of lives challenges. Workaholic with a highly stressful job, issues with my kids (as youngsters and adults), a nasty divorce, a reactive dog and my own and my family’s serious health issues. I have joy too! With 6 grandchildren and 2 dogs I have plenty to smile about! Everyone’s lives are polar and usually somewhere in between with joy, love and fun and grief and anxiety.
I discovered to power (and ease of use) of meditation and mindfulness many years ago whilst I was struggling with Stress and Anxiety and a degree of personal trauma. I had a brilliant mentor to guide me with an introduction to meditation and mindfulness, she remains a good friend. More recently I have had some serious heart issues and tragic family difficulties where I was also suffering panic. I used meditation and mindfulness to get some space to concentrate on feeling safe, healthy and happy. I was also introduced to the power of Simple Breathwork. I discovered not only could I manage my panic and overwhelm better the impact upon my heart issues and subsequent recovery from surgery was helped by all the prior and continuing work.
Following some further study and certifications I have deepened my understanding and I realised that this simple fusion can provide a toolbox for everyday life that we can all use and fit into our everyday lives. So here I am, wishing to share some of the easy activities you can incorporate in your everyday lives and inviting you to discover the power of a simple Pause for Peace Toolbox.
I would like to offer local sessions by donation to MIND the Mental Health charity, for parents, a range of organisations, workplaces and in schools for students – I am a qualified teacher.
I will be offering face to face classes or one-off sessions in the Taunton area on a donation basis.
Many Thanks for visiting this space
Blessings
Mandy
