I was reading a piece on BBC News about space junk and a Japanese project to build satellites out of wood! It had all the makings of an 11+ question.
Q1. How many of the satellites currently in orbit are functioning?
Q2. The article calculates a figure of 15,000 satellites by 2028. How many do you make it?

The closest 'great conjunction' (where Jupiter & Saturn appear to come together in the night sky) since 1623 occurred today on the Winter Solstice and, disappointingly, the weather was awful. How many years will I have to wait to enjoy the extremely rare conjunction (see final picture) predicted for the year 7541?
