The practise of Qigong has many health benefits and it can be very effective for helping to relieve anxiety, depression and stress.
Phoenix Health Hub is offering some free classes, groups and workshops in July and August for people experiencing mental health issues. I am really pleased to be able to offer two free evening sessions to try Qigong and enjoy a short guided meditation for relaxation.
The dates are
Wednesday 17th July 6.30-7.30pm and
Wednesday 21st August 6.30-7.30pm
It can sometimes be difficult to sit still to meditate when we are feeling anxious, depressed or overwhelmed. Qigong practise is a form of moving meditation. We do slow, gentle repetitive movements whilst focussing on the movement and the breath which relaxes the mind and body together.
The sessions will be friendly, relaxed and free.

New class starting soon! In this video I'm demonstrating the first form in the wonderful Shibashi 1 sequence. Although I'm showing what not to do, being perfect with the form is actually the least important thing. Qigong is a moving meditation and the most important thing is to relax and enjoy!

There are many scientifically proven benefits of meditation including stress reduction, anxiety reduction, lower blood pressure, improved concentration, better memory, greater self awareness and more positive feelings towards oneself and others.
Qigong can provide the same benefits as sitting to meditate and more! As well as calming and refocusing the mind you are getting gentle exercise. Improving your balance, strength and flexibility. 🙂 If you would like to join a class with me it would be great to see you!

Happy Spring! *New weekly beginners class starting in Uckfield*

Spring is a time of growth and new beginnings. It’s a great time to be creative, to make decisions and to form new habits. Making it the perfect time to start learning how to practise Qigong.
Qigong (Chee Kung) is a form of gentle meditative exercise, great for mind, body and soul.
My classes are friendly, relaxed and easy to follow. Everybody is welcome.

New weekly beginners class starting on Wednesday 20 April!
2 to 3 pm Wednesday afternoons at the recently decorated Foresters Hall, Harcourt Road TN22 5DT

The cost is £10 for one class or £45 for 5 classes. We will do gentle warm up exercises, learn and practise Qigong forms together and finish with a short guided meditation (for which you can sit in a chair or lie down).

In Qigong Winter is considered a time for resting and conserving energy (like a bear).
The Winter season is connected to the water element which in the body relates to the kidneys and bladder.
I'm really looking forward to starting classes again this week.
We will be practising some qigong forms that strengthen the kidneys and also some that embody the calm, relaxing, flowing nature of water. And as usual there will be time for you to rest and conserve your energy like a bear, whilst I guide you in a short meditation 😊

It's been great to start 2 new classes this week and meet some lovely people. The new classes are one daytime one in Isfield Village Hall and an evening class in the Belmont Centre, Uckfield.

I am currently teaching Shibashi 1 in my classes.

It is a beautiful, gentle, flowing Qigong exercise routine that is deeply relaxing and a joy to do. Shibashi translates from Chinese as eighteen postures and Shibashi 1 is a set of 18 Qigong postures that flow gently from one to the other.

It is designed to improve general health and wellbeing and is practiced by over 10 million people around the world and also taught in some parts of the NHS.

The movements in the sequence are great for improving circulation and digestion, strengthening breathing, strengthening the bones, reducing high blood pressure and easing conditions that are worsened by stress.

The integration of mind, body and breath provides a wonderful moving meditation.

You can learn the sequence in class in a friendly, relaxed environment then enjoy practicing it regularly at home to really start to see improvements in your overall health and wellbeing.
