When it comes to achieving a fitness goal. A lot of people including myself in the past looked at this pyramid upside down. Follow these step to achieve your fitness goal:
Optimise sleep ( 7-8 hrs), make sure you have macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, fats) and micronutrients ( fruits and vegetables in your diet. You can still indulge in a pizza or an acholic beverage but make sure your not over consuming on these Have at least 1 litre of water a day. A human is made from 75-80% water and the rest is nutrients
Have a day where you do NEAT (Non exercise thermogenesis)- low impact training such as walking, yoga etc. This can help with recovery and can help with relive stress
Weight training. Is at the very top because if you don't address the foundations you won't be able to perform well in the weight room or in your day. The weight room is there to help improve your quality of life.

A hex barbell will allow you to get a better stretch reflex due to the design of the bar it allows you to get a deeper stretch within your hamstrings without you ending up using your lower back

All 3 have different disciplines
The fitness industry gets you hung over doing cable exercises, but you can elicit the same response with a barbell. Free weight training is far superior over cable exercises.
I like to explain sacoplasma and myoplsma like fish in a fish bowl. The bowl is free weight training, and the fish is cable exercises. If you have too many fish in a small bowl, they will get claustrophobic and die. However, in a larger bowl, you will be able to have more fish without the risk of them dying

I usually see or hear that people make massive cuts when they just need to reduce their calories by 3-5 % and maintain.
Remember if you are tracking your calories a calories calculator is a tool not an aid

My Story
I have a rare neurological condition that effects the respiratory system. For most of my childhood, my condition made me highly sedentary and almost clinically obese.
My fitness journey started when I was a 11 through football and then rugby at school. I still play for a Disability Football team and in 2016. I was selected to play for the England Mencap International Football team in Geneva.
My passion for lifting weights and the gym followed. I regularly take part in the Yorkshire and North East Powerlifting Competitions. I am now lifting almost 3x my bodyweight in these competitions!
I qualified as a personal trainer and completed a degree in Applied Sports and Performance. The two have run along side each other and given me the knowledge and fuelled my deep passion for health and fitness which I want to use to inspire others.

Hello, my name is Joel and I am a online personal trainer.
Sport and exercise has been at the forefront of my entire life due to that I have a rare neurological respiratory condition.
At the age of 21 I studied a degree in Applied Sports in Performance. When I was studying this degree I became passionate about deadlifting. This grew and I am now a competitive disabled and non disabled powerlifter. I am training to lift the regional deadlift record for the International Powerlifting Federation.
My degree and powerlifting has led to a career in Health & Fitness, where I can use my knowledge to help others reach their goals and improve their overall health and wellbeing .
I strongly believe fitness, weight training and the right nutrition, promotes positivity for mental well being and physical health.
