Worksop Dolphins Swimming Club - Masters
Friendly Competitive Swim Squad based in Worksop, Notts National | Regional | County | Fitness
From September 2022, we have been lucky to be under coach Bailey. Since he took over the squad, he took full ownership of the group and gave us a structure and standard of training that many of us havenβt had in years. It created the conditions for us to get back into competitive swimming and bring home some great results: age group national champions, regional titles and consistent county success.
Today, it was his last session as he moves on to new pastures. We cannot thank him enough for his work and commitment to improving us, which is a feeling recognised across the wider club.
All the best and good luck from the mastersβ squad πͺπ»π¬

Somewhat early on our end of season post last week! Forgot about our open water starboy Julian Pavier! What a swim at SwimRutland 2km where he came 1st overall in very choppy conditions. A lot of hard work has gone into his season πͺπ»
With the cancellation of the SE Open Water National Masters Championships, our season comes to an end.
At the end, there is a lot to reflect on. The squad has gone from strength to strength and represented Worksop Dolphins SC at county, regional and national mastersβ events.
As a squad, we have many achievements that we are proud of:
- Representation at British National Masters and 2 gold medals.
- Regional swims with a record in the 800 free.
- Regional open water champion.
- 5 Age group Nottinghamshire County champions.
- Multiple medals and relay victories at Staffordshire Masters.
- Multiple age group top 10 event rankings.
- 4 mile Thames OW swim 10th overall.
- 1st place open water Swim Dubai.
It is important to contextualise these too. As masters swimmers, we balance full time jobs, family commitments and much more. Juggling these with the training required can be a challenge in itself!
As we look to the National Masters Short Course Championships in October, we already have 5 members qualified for phase 1 times.
Special thanks to our coach, Bailey, for his enthusiasm and commitment to our training this season too. Under his guidance, the squad has become a tight-knit group, pushing each other to success. Onwards to next season πͺπ»
We are here and ready to roll at Nottinghamshire County Masters. Best of luck to our competing members: Ben, Kirsty, Paul, Ian and Chris πͺπ» Getting our mastersβ team out into the county! Worksop Dolphins SC

Good luck to our three swimmers Lee, Chris and Ben this weekend π
We had immense success with four of our swimmers competing at Staffordshire masters county champs where Lee, Ben, Chris and Paul all secured 15 medals between them at this meet alone! The team won Gold in both their relays and their sheer grit, determination and consistent training has paid dividends. They are getting faster, stronger and better daily. Keep it up gents! πͺπ»ππ»ββοΈπ¬

This set shows many things about our current masters squad, it shows the diversity, adaptable sets and tailored turnaround times to suit each individual and their needs / goals. We have newly joined members that also havenβt swam in decades that are rediscovering their passion and love for the sport.
A few action shots included from the session also! π¬πͺπ»ππ»ββοΈ
This is what 6 rounds of 3 x 50βs at race pace looks like with 90 seconds rest between each round, tired is an understatement. π΄ Well done everyone, smashing your training at the minute!πͺπ»π¬ππ»ββοΈ
Great to see so many new faces in the squad recently ππΌ
Sessions are starting to ramp up and members are seeing improvements.
Great work all round. Get in touch if youβd like to have a trial.
