Wow - what a day! In the morning our residents joined a boozy group celebrating the Caribbean :) The lounge was decorated by Steph, with a huge banner of a balmy beach, with palm trees, sea lapping on a beautiful beach.... also funny glasses, banana leaves, flower garlands and Bob Marley on the sound system! Steph concocted wonderful well known cocktails, Pina Colada, Mojito and a Rum Punch, and a final homemade unique cocktail, the Connaught Cocktail, a 'Stephanie Special'!! Residents really enjoyed the banter, flavours of pineapple, mint, rum, coconut, mango, lime and pomegranate, drinks for all and good fun at a refreshing morning activity!!
For lunch our residents enjoyed jerk chicken, Caribbean fish curry, all served with rice and peas, sweet potato fries, salad and slaw followed by banana rum fritters
A lovely afternoon of exotic fruit tasting in the main lounge this afternoon following on from our Caribbean themed day and cocktails this morning. We tried Mango, papaya, coconut, pomegranate, Sharon fruit, cape gooseberries, passion fruit, and watermelon. We had the help of Neu and Mariya from Knavesmire. Neu gave us an in depth view of each fruit, most of which are found in Thailand were she is from and grew in her childhood garden.
Regards
Stephanie and Fran
