The weather might be pretty rubbish but there are worse places to be than a cosy city cafe with great cups of coffee and sweet treats...

It’s been a whirlwind few weeks, September always is. But throw in three birthdays in one amazing weekend at the seaside and one party and we’re just about finished with the tidying up and catching up on sleep.

Jump back to two weekends ago and my dream birthday weekend. Whitby is always a good idea.

Hello birthday weekend. Hello Whitby, my old favourite.

And just like that, it’s the first day again…

I left the camera at home for our Dales camping trip a few weeks ago, and despite balking at the cost of a disposable camera now (90’s nostalgia anyone?!), I absolutely don’t regret it.

I think these capture the essence of a childhood summer outdoors perfectly.

Just a little re- introduction and update 👋🏻 I meant to do this about two weeks ago but, you know, life… 😂

After stepping back from weddings at the end of 2023 I’ve decided to do the same with family shoots, and reduce my branding work too. Photographing all of you on your big days and every days has been the greatest pleasure, but for me I need to focus on chasing my own kids round the park and enjoy my own parties.

Also, a couple of years ago I joined a charity, part time, to fill some days and bring in a regular income but this stop-gap has become so much more. I’m excited to be their communications and marketing coordinator now; bringing together my photography, copywriting and social media marketing skills. This role and these opportunities are worth giving it my full attention.

I have loved getting to know so many small business owners, mostly women and well-being businesses, and where I can, I will absolutely show up and help you brand and grow yours too, just as I do for the charity. My diary is much reduced, but please, always ask.

My workshops, work with students and other charities will continue and I am always open for collaboration and conversation, so get in touch.

A huge thank you to everyone who has trusted me to photograph them over the last seven years and those families who have repeatedly come to me, the BIGGEST love and thank you. You know who you are ♥️

Nothing like an ice cream van in the rain to symbolise a British Summer.

York is teeming with summer events and the Dragon Boat Race is one of the iconic ones. Had to dress like it was March but we still had an ice cream and a go on a tombola.

When the brief is simple background but show our personalities, moving into simply, showing our personalities ♥️📷

Love a good headshot.

So last month i met up with the brilliant team of women, led by the inspirational Joeli Brearley, that make up the powerhouse organisation Pregnant Then Screwed.

Did i think for one minute they would be a stuffy, corporate bunch? Nope. Did i realise how much fun we would have? Nope.

The last few weeks have been about headshots and group shots outside of the charity. First up I met up with this lovely person, who I’ve had the pleasure of photographing several times with her family.

Not only did we have a massive catch up and got a mix of corporate and relaxed shots to reflect the two sides to her academic career, we got additional images in our local park.

Oh and when your client has a cat as stunning as this it would be rude not to photograph her too.
