Wednesday saw me working with the fantastic team at Morley Glass on their stand at the FIT Show 2023 at the NEC Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. What an amazing event. The quality of exhibitions stands was excellent, and it is clearly a very productive and proactive trade show. The stand Morley Glass had looked fantastic showcasing the very best products they have to offer, including some new lines in the form of electric privacy glass and electric roof light blinds.

There was very little time for the team to take a break as the stand saw a stream of people interested in their product range right from the doors opening to the end of the day. Always popular are their integral venetian and pleated blinds of which Morley Glass are the number 1 manufacturer of Screenline blinds in the UK.

If you are looking for any glazing, but particularly something that gives you a wow factor, then I would highly recommend looking at the Morley Glass integral blinds. They really are impressive.

I photographed an amazing master bedroom, walk-in wardrobe, and bathroom a couple of week ago. Predominantly cream and ivory, with subtle touches of gold this space has a feeling of tranquility and elegance with a touch of opulence. Considering what these rooms looked like before, the transformation is incredible turning drab and dated rooms into rooms much more enticing, relaxing and inviting.

Caroline Gardner Designs in Harrogate design the most impressive spaces for discerning clients. For truly bespoke interior design to give you a ‘Wow’ factor, I can highly recommend Caroline and her team. Everything is done to the utmost quality and high attention to detail, and these rooms as always were meticulously presented making it an absolute pleasure to photograph.

A couple of weeks ago I took a long road trip to photograph an impressively converted dormer bungalow in a fantastic location. Considering how the bungalow used to look, this conversion has been transformational making full use of the view. This is what bi-folding and sliding doors were made for, to benefit fully from an uninterrupted view; the view in this case being across a golf course and out to sea. On a day like the day I photographed it, you could not have asked for better as it showcased the property and its location so well. This property is not only modern and stylish, but is set in a beautiful location.

The sliding doors and windows in this property are Express windows and doors which are simply the best in the business. It is an absolute pleasure to photograph for Express as each property is different to the next and the products are so incredibly well made. They often have an impressive view, which makes it all the more enjoyable. I can highly recommend Express Bi-Folding Doors, and with showrooms in Romford, Weybridge, Glasgow and their amazing flagship showroom in Leeds, they cover the whole country and it each and every showroom is well worth a visit as they are quite inspirational.

I had the pleasure of taking some updates team shots of Artus Digital last week to celebrate their 5th year anniversary. 5 years have seen the Artus Team grow and evolve to be Yorkshire’s leading copywriting and digital marketing company. Using “words that work” Zach and his team can help your business engage visitors to your website and readers of your social media posts. Particularly with Google using AI, engaging fresh content that builds credibility and trust in your business showing that you are an expert in your field of work, well written content is essential. Engaging content should help readers trust what you are saying encouraging conversation, to sell less, deliver value, and be used to showcase your brand and values, and this is where Zach and his team at Artus Digital excel.

To be asked to take some updated photographs of their team to help promote Artus to assist with their growth demonstrates that engaging content in conjunction with photographs that tell a story and get across a message work hand-in-hand. Artus have a great team and it was a pleasure to work with them again. I can highly recommend Artus having used their services myself, as they truly are the best in the business at what they do.

I had the pleasure of photographing a stunning transformation of several rooms of a property recently for . This amazing ‘his and hers’ dressing room used to be an ensuite bathroom to the master bedroom and was very tired, dated, and in need of a complete make-over. What has been created is a practical yet stylish luxurious dressing room with smoked oak wood finish, full height mirror push to open doors, and discreet led illumination to complement the central contemporary chandelier. With plenty of storage space that is easy to use, the layout and use of this room has been thoroughly thought out to create a dressing room that is stylish and elegant yet practical.

It is also worth noting that even though the use of this room has been changed, the bedroom still retains an ensuite bathroom as the layout of the house is having a complete make-over.

Caroline Gardner Designs in Harrogate design ultimate luxurious spaces and it has been an absolute pleasure to work with the team this last year. Everything is done to the utmost quality and high attention to detail. I have photographed several projects for them and they all have a ‘Wow’ factor and I look forward to seeing more of their stunning transformations this coming year.

I photographed an inspirational event a couple of weeks ago at the The Royal Armouries New Dock Hall in Leeds. After such a difficult couple of years for events, to be in the room with 600 people to celebrate all that was good in the residential real estate industry was fantastic. What an atmosphere. It was an ideal opportunity to get dressed up to celebrate those people and businesses that have gone over and above to be awarded for their achievements.

It was also an ideal opportunity to raise money for an extremely worthy cause, helping Yorkshire children living in poverty. 1 in 3 children in Yorkshire are living in poverty and Yorkshire is one of the worst areas for child poverty in the country. Yorkshire Children’s Charity is doing fantastic work to transform childhoods to make things better for the thousands of disadvantaged children in Yorkshire. They make sure no child or young person in Yorkshire is left behind due to ill health, disability, or financial circumstance, working hard to give young people a fair chance; a chance to live an inclusive life, full of opportunities to explore, where they can engage in the world around them. They help children be who they want to be and get where they want to go.

It was fantastic to be part of such an impressive event and the charity raised some much needed funds, 100% of which goes to those places that need it most.

I photographed an absolutely stunning holiday lodge in Wales a few weeks ago with contemporary bi-folding doors with glazed units containing internal Venetian blinds. Set in a stunning location the windows and doors take full advantage of the amazing views. Aspects of the timber lodge have been constructed from locally grown trees, so as to blend in to the surroundings very well.

Morley Glass specialise in producing glazing with internal blinds. They are a fantastic low maintenance option for any glazing, which when you have a wall of glazing you can easily control the amount of sunlight entering your home. They are a brilliant alternative to having separate blinds or curtains which gather dust, require regular cleaning, and do not always make it easy to make full use of bi-folding doors.

For truly impressive glazed units to give you a ‘Wow’ factor, I can highly recommend Morley Glass. Everything is done to the utmost quality and high attention to detail, and this holiday lodge presents their glozing very well being an absolute pleasure to photograph.

What a lovely sunny day for mid October for the Hunter Gee Holroyd Corporate Golf Day at Fulford Golf Club. I love photographing on days like this as the photographs are so much more vibrant. The colour in the trees, particularly at this time of year, are just amazing.

Having been rearranged from September due to the passing of the Queen, the turnout was very good with 6 teams of 4 players, and with several prizes up for grabs including longest drive, closest to the pin, and three holes with hole-in-one prizes of up to £10,000, it made the day more enjoyable and exciting. What better way of spending a day than walking in beautiful surroundings of Fulford Golf Club, taking photographs on a lovely sunny day. Here is a small selection of photographs that I took as a reminder of a great event.

A further selection of pictures from The Fast Lane Club Yorkshire Elegance Celebration Day last week.

Photos from DJB Photography's post 26/07/2022

I had the pleasure of attending The Fast Lane Club Yorkshire Elegance Celebration Day at Bowcliffe Hall on Wednesday afternoon. A three day event with a visit to Harewood Hillclimb on Tuesday, Jaguar 100th Year Celebration Day at Bowcliffe Hall on Wednesday and a Yorkshire Dales Driving Tour on Thursday taking in dinner and overnight stay at Grantley Hall. Unfortunately due to prior photography engagements I could only attend on Wednesday but it was a fantastic celebration day incorporating displays of various Jaguar’s, particularly e-types, Aston Martin’s, Bentley’s, Austin Healey’s, as well as a small number of Porsche’s and a display of Ferrari’s in celebration of 75 years of Ferrari. Ginetta, Lamborghini Leeds, and Maclaren Leeds also brought cars along to display, and entertainment was in the form of The Bluebirds, a vintage harmony trio, singing songs befitting the occasion and era of the cars on display.

It was also great to see the team from Yorkshire Children’s Charity in attendance as I have done some work with them in the past, and I look forward to working with them again in the near future. They do some great work for children who need specialist equipment funding this equipment to help them thrive. Here is a small selection of photographs that I took as a reminder of a great event.

I photographed an amazing living room a couple of months ago with a unique and impressive sunken seating area. Originally two rooms, a lot of steelwork has been put in to this property to create some amazing living spaces.

Caroline Gardner Designs in Harrogate designed an ultimate entertaining area, combining a variety of textured neutral fabrics and metallic leathers. The feature black marble fireplace is the focal point surrounded by an open floor area with bespoke sofa. Coupled with underfloor heating and surround sound audio system to create a room that is very inviting and calming. It is a truly tranquil space in which to relax and entertain, and certainly impressive.

It has been an absolute pleasure to work with the team at Caroline Gardner Designs and just lately I have been fortunate enough to work with them on a couple more occasions.

For truly bespoke interior design to give you a ‘Wow’ factor, I can highly recommend Caroline and her team. Everything is done to the utmost quality and high attention to detail, and this room in particular was meticulously presented making it an absolute pleasure to photograph.

This is a lovely contemporary South Yorkshire new build with amazing windows and sliding doors to take advantage of the sunlight and lovely wooded views. Completed during the last couple of years, this is stylish property, built on a an incline with a small river at the foot of the garden. Getting a photograph from the outside of the property was challenging as it was difficult to get any sort of distance.

Inside with the sunlight being so bright it was challenging to capture all the detail in both the light and dark areas of the room as well as in the windows. This is where the skill of a professional interior photographer is tested to ensure that the photograph is very indicative of what the eye can see.

The family who live here really do live in a lovely location. It is stress free living with everything finished to the highest possible detail. The windows complement the property very well indeed, and make great use of the internal and outdoor living space.

Heavy skies and wild weather for our Hebridean Way self supported cycle ride. We were so unfortunate with the weather with very blustery, wet and cold conditions. These are some of the highlights of the trip. They show the dramatic landscape and adverse conditions we endured. Some places were rather bleak yet beautiful on their own way. In sunny conditions I can see how it would be dramatically different. A leisurely touring ride became much more of a test of endurance and stamina. A fantastic memorable experience all the same.

A further selection of photographs showcasing the new Helperby Walled Garden wedding venue. The Walled Garden Helperby is a charming, intimate and exclusive setting for weddings or event. This historic Grade II listed garden, built in the Edwardian era, is set in a picturesque North Yorkshire village in the grounds of Helperby Hall.

For the promotion of this exclusive wedding venue I photographed a styled wedding photoshoot to show the wedding venue off to its best. It was great to work with a fantastic group of suppliers and to helping kick start this venture for Helperby Estate as an exclusive new wedding venue.

New wedding venues do not come by very often so to be involved right from the start with the new Helperby Walled Garden wedding venue is great and right on my doorstep. The Walled Garden Helperby is a charming, intimate and exclusive setting for weddings or event. This historic Grade II listed garden, built in the Edwardian era, is set in a picturesque North Yorkshire village in the grounds of Helperby Hall.

Significant restoration and repair work has been undertaken over the past few years to enable the garden to host events and weddings, with expansive four acres of lawns and walkways created with the flexibility for different sized weddings and events and with practical considerations at the heart.

Wedding ceremonies will take place under the stone Cupola which is very photogenic, and the open expanse of lawns offers plenty of space for marquees accommodating up to 200 guests and with ample room for open air drinks reception and live music entertainment.

As part of the promotion of this exclusive wedding venue I photographed a styled wedding photoshoot to show the wedding venue off to its best. It was great to work with a fantastic group of suppliers and to helping kick start this venture for Helperby Estate as an exclusive new wedding venue.

I photographed this lovely extended property near York last year for A and J Architects, converting a fairly ordinary three bedroomed detached property into a stunning open plan living space with kitchen, dining area, and living space. The extension looked out through sliding doors onto a patio and garden area, beyond on to open fields. The extension also created a sizeable office and amazing cinema room, making this a property that the family could use to the fullest and enjoy spending time in.

A and J Architects are exceptional at designing space that is suitable for living, making the best use of the space available to them. As a result everything flowed well and was in proportion to the rest of the house. It is no wonder I enjoy photographing for them as the property they design and develop are photogenic, allowing me the opportunity to capture a property to its very best.

It certainly has that ‘wow’ factor as you enter the kitchen from the front of the property and your eye is drawn from the beautiful kitchen, though to the living space and out into the garden and beyond.

As the weather begins to change and we look forward to some sunny spring weather, it takes me back to a wedding celebration I photographed last summer which was the second part of a wedding that was originally planned to go ahead in 2020. As restrictions only allowed 30 attendees at a wedding that summer, in 2021 Louise and Harry had a wedding celebration the same weekend in order to enjoy the day they always wished for with their family and friends, and what a lovely day it was. You could not have asked for better weather and having already captured their wedding ceremony in 2020 it was a very relaxed and pleasant day, that to all intents and purposes was a full wedding day, simply without the ceremony.

It allowed me to capture some amazing photographs of them and their guests, and to take some time over being able to do so, without too much restriction on time. We also worked well together as Louise and Harry are a lovely easy going couple, who just wanted to enjoy their day to the fullest.

Capturing everything from the bridal preparations through to the first dance and beyond, we travelled to the church where we took some photographs in and around the church in Kirk Hammerton, before then meeting the guests back at Louise’s parents house where a marquee was set for their wedding breakfast. With a lovely well kept garden with wildlife meadow, it really was an idyllic setting for a wedding.

I thoroughly enjoyed the day and I appreciate Louise and Harry entrusting me to capture their day(s) for them. Here is a selection of highlights from their wedding day for you to enjoy.

Last week saw me photograph this new kitchen installation in a newly constructed property for Prestons Kitchens and Express Bi-Folding Doors. This modern German handleless kitchen is an ideal entertaining space, with impressive feature lighting, and sliding doors leading to an out door private garden.

The level of detail and standard of installation are exceptional. Everything in the property is finished to an extremely high specification and this kitchen fits right in to the style of the property.

The challenge for me in photographing this kitchen was the mirror splash backs which in quite a number of photographs often reflected my own reflection back at me. It is not always possible to keep out of a reflection if the angle of the photograph is pleasing and so some creativity is needed in order to capture what is required.

Here are a selection of further photographs of The Old Forge Sand Hutton taken last week photographing for Karen’s newly redecorated Garden Shed AirBnB property. Set in the beautiful rural surroundings of Sand Hutton, with picturesque whimsical gardens, this lovely property is the ideal hideaway for couples wanting a romantic week away.

It is a lovely cosy property with modern conveniences and beautiful garden. Karen is very dedicated to offering the utmost to her clients and working together we dressed the property to show it off to its very best including some amazing artisan bread from Haxby Bakehouse which really set the tone for that comforting welcoming feeling we needed to portray in the photographs.

For a rural romantic break away near York this is certainly a location I would recommend. It is in a quite peaceful setting. Have a look at The Old Forge York website (http://ow.ly/opHA50HNHJx) for more details.

Damian’s, DJB Photography Story

After studying at University and working in the IT industry for several years, initially on an IT helpdesk, before moving into back office infrastructure, server building and networks, and ultimately as Head of ICT, Damian decided to retrain to do something more creative, yet still with a technical element.

Back at school and in my teenage years I had a real passion to be a professional tennis player, or at the very least professional tennis coach. I was good at it, I loved playing tennis. My friends all played tennis, and whenever I had free time I would play, driving my parents mad as I used to practice against the house wall. Playing in various tennis competitions I felt I had what it took, only to be told by my careers teacher at school that it was not a proper career and to choose something else. When that happened it became very difficult to see what else there was that I enjoyed doing that I could see myself doing for the rest of my life. The result was I never made a decision and fell into an IT career. Not till I was 30 did I actually decide a photographer was what I wanted to be, and the moment I decided it was like a lightbulb moment. It just felt right.

I went back to college and retrained and started my business is 2004 working as a dedicated wedding photographer and have loved my work ever since. Having photographed some amazing weddings, met some great couples and clients, I love what I do. My style can best be described as a natural style, working in a discrete, unobtrusive approach. It is an artistic style of wedding photography, capturing a full day from bride and groom preparations through to first dance, and beyond. Everything is bespoke including a tailored album design service. A wedding day is just that, a wedding day. It is not a photoshoot to be dominated by a photographer.

Since then my work has evolved to photographing commercial marketing and PR projects for companies to help businesses show off their work to the very best, to attract the clients they want to work with, and to ultimately help them grow their business. My aim with any company is create long term working relationships by not only meeting a clients expectations but to exceed them. Marketing photography is more than just pretty pictures, it is about telling a story and getting across a message. Great professional photography can increase a businesses conversion rate. Business can spend thousands on SEO, but if the visitors to your website are not engaged in the content they are reading and looking at, then it could be a costly expense. Great photography that engage readers will increase conversion and encourage readers to take that next step and contact you.
