On 13 December, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky paid a visit to Norway. During his visit, the President of Ukraine attended a Nordic-Ukrainian Summit in Oslo, hosted by the Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre.
Continued support for Ukraine’s fight against Russia’s aggression was the main topic of the Summit, where heads of government of the Nordic countries promised President Volodymyr Zelensky that they will continue to provide comprehensive, long-term support for Ukraine.

Strong Nordic support for Ukraine Today, Prime Minster Jonas Gahr Støre hosted a Nordic-Ukrainian Summit in Oslo. During the summit, the heads of government of the Nordic countries promised President Volodymyr Zelensky that they would continue their strong support for Ukraine.

აფხაზეთის უსინათლოთა და ყრუ-მუნჯთა კავშირთან, "ჰერასთან", საელჩოს პროექტის ფარგლებში, გუშინ 11 დეკემბერს, ნორვეგიის ელჩი საქართველოში, ბერგლიოტ ჰოვლანდი უსინათლოთა და მხედველობადაქვეითებული ბავშვების #202 საჯარო სკოლა-ინტერნატს ეწვია.
აღნიშნული პროექტის ფარგლებში, ჩაიწერა და სკოლას გადაეცა, ცნობილი ნორვეგიელი საბავშვო ავტორის ანე-კატერინე ვესტლის მოთხრობის "მამა, დედა, რვა ბავშვი და საბარგო მანქანა" აუდიო წიგნები. წიგნის აუდიო ვერსია, ასევე გამოქვეყნდება "ჰერა"-ს ელექტრონული წიგნების პორტალზე "საბა", რაზეც შეზღუდული შესაძლებლობის მქონე ბავშვებს უფასო წვდომა ექნებათ.

Ambassador of Norway, H.E. Bergljot Hovland visited the public boarding school #202 for blind and visually impaired children in the framework of the Embassy’s project with "HERA", the Union of the Blind and Deaf of Abkhazia. The project provided the school with audio books of the famous Norwegian children’s writer, Anne-Cath. Vestly's story "Dad, Mom, Eight Children and a Truck". The audio book will also be published on HERA’s e-book portal ‘’SABA’’ with free access for disabled children.
At the meeting with the school deputy director, Ms. Mariam Mikiashvili and the project manager, Mukhran Gunia, Ambassador Hovland was introduced to the history of the boarding school, education process, and children’s everyday life at school. The Ambassador handed over CDs of the audio books to the school children and answered to their inquiries about Norway and the Norwegian Embassy in Tbilisi. She shared her childhood memories of listening to Anne Cath. Vestly’s story telling with her memorable voice and dialect on the radio program “Barnetimen” (Childen’s hour).
Ambassador Hovland expressed her gratitude to ‘’HERA’’ project manager Mukhran Gunia and Zviad Jojua for promoting the Norwegian writer among the Georgian children, and even more importantly, for mobilizing social and human resources to assist the disabled children in improving their access to education and literature.

Yesterday, on 10 December, Norwegian author and playwright Jon Fosse was officially awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature 2023, "for his innovative plays and prose which give voice to the unsayable."

On 21st November, Ambassador of Norway to Georgia, H.E. Bergljot Hovland and the Deputy, Ms. Rebecca Lie hosted the beneficiaries of the Norway funded project “Local Ownership of Democracy: Partnerships in Communities of Georgia and Armenia’’ run by International Practitioners’ Partnership Network (PractNet). The project is aimed at fostering stronger local ownership of democratic reform and development in Georgian and Armenian municipalities. Roundtables, interactive seminars, and site-visits were organized to facilitate mutual learning between the participating municipalities from each other’s experiences and reform know-how from Estonia, focusing on the fields of public transport system, tourism, and industrial and rural economy.
During the meeting, the Mayors of Telavi, Samtredia, Mtskheta (Georgia), Lori Berd and Alaverdi (Armenia) along with the State Representatives of Kakheti and Tsageri municipalities, and the project partners from Georgia and Armenia shared their experiences, impressions and best practices received from the project.

The program offers funding for innovative performing arts projects.

ნორვეგიის სამეფოს ელჩი საქართველოში, ქ-ნი ბერგლიოტ ჰოვლანდი კრწანისში წვრთნისა და შეფასების ერთობლივ ცენტრს (JTEC) ეწვია, რომელიც თავდაცვის შესაძლებლობების განვითარების ერთ-ერთ ინიციატივას წარმოადგენს ნატო-საქართველოს არსებითი პაკეტის (SNGP) ფარგლებში. 2015 წლიდან მოყოლებული, ნორვეგიას თავისი წვლილი შეაქვს JTEC-ის განვითარებაში და წამყვან პოზიციებს იკავებს ნატოს გუნდში და JTEC ინიციატივაში. JTEC-ის მეთაურმა, პოლკოვნიკმა დავით გაგუამ და ნატოს უფროსმა მრჩეველმა ნორვეგიიდან, ვიცე-პოლკოვნიკმა პერ ივარ პედერსენმა ელჩს გააცნეს JTEC-ის სტრუქტურა და მისია.
ელჩმა ჰოვლანდმა ხაზგასმით აღნიშნა, რომ ნორვეგიის მხარდაჭერა SNGP-სა და JTEC-ის მიმართ საქართველოს ევროატლანტიკური ინტეგრაციის მხარდაჭერის ნათელი დადასტურებაა.

Ambassador of Norway to Georgia, H.E. Bergljot Hovland visited the Joint Training and Evaluation Centre (JTEC) at Krtsanisi, which is one of the Defence Capacity Building initiatives under the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package (SNGP). Norway has contributed to the development of JTEC since 2015, holding the lead position in the NATO Team and the NATO JTEC SNGP Initiative. JTEC Commander, Col David Gagua and Senior NATO Advisor from Norway, LTC Per Ivar Pedersen introduced the Ambassador to the JTEC structure and its mission. Ambassador Hovland underlined that Norway’s support to SNGP and JTEC is a clear signal of support for Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration.

გუშინ, 9 ნოემბერს, ნორვეგიის საგანგებო და სრულუფლებიანმა ელჩმა საქართველოში, ბერგლიოტ ჰოვლანდმა აფხაზეთის ავტონომიური რესპუბლიკის მთავრობის თავმჯდომარე, რუსლან აბაშიძესთან გაცნობითი ხასიათის შეხვედრა გამართა. შეხვედრაზე მხარეებმა ოკუპირებულ ტერიტორიაზე არსებული ვითარების, მათ შორის დევნილების შესახებ ისაუბრეს და სხვადასხვა მიმართულებით სამომავლო თანამშრომლობის პერსპექტივები განიხილეს. საუბარი ასევე შეეხო ნორვეგიის ჩართულობას აფხაზეთის კონფლიქტის საკითხებში, ამჟამად დანიის ლტოლვილთა საბჭოს შუამდგომლობით.

Yesterday, November 9, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Norway to Georgia, Bergliot Hovland held an introductory meeting with the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Ruslan Abashidze.
The parties talked about the current situation in the occupied territory as well as for IDPs. They discussed the previous and ongoing Norwegian engagement in Abkhazia, currently through the Danish Refugee Council, and prospects for further cooperation in various directions.
Ambassador Hovland once again confirmed the strong support of the Government of the Kingdom of Norway to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.

Last week during its strategy and welfare seminar, the Norwegian Embassy team enjoyed culinary masterclasses at Lopota Lake Resort. Diplomats mastered the techniques of baking Georgian bread in Tone, wrapping thin and fluffy Khatchapuri and making soft amber colored Churchkhelas. At the end of the masterclass the team was treated with Kakhetian Qvevri wine and the dishes they themselves prepared.

On the way back to Tbilisi, the Norwegian Embassy visited Euroclub, a non-formal education and development center in Kvareli, where the young people of the region are able to engage in various educational activities or to initiate interesting projects themselves. We would like to express our warm thanks to Nika Gurini, the founder of Euroclub for a very special and heartwarming surprise, a beautiful wall painting, made especially for the Embassy's visit, as a sign of friendship and partnership.

Ambassador Bergljot Hovland was honored to meet with Foreign Minister Darchiashvili to discuss the further strengthening of bilateral relations between Norway and Georgia, as well as developments in the South Caucasus region. Ambassador underlined Norway’s strong support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and to Georgia’s path to European and Euro-Atlantic integration, based on countries' shared values. Norway’s project cooperation supports Georgia’s reform process.

6 ოქტომბერს ნორვეგიის საელჩო გარემოსდაცვითი არასამთავრობო ორგანიზაცია CENN-ის მიერ წამოწყებული კონკურსის „შეაჩერე პლასტმასით დაბინძურება“ დაჯილდოების ცერემონიას დაესწრო. ღონისძიებაზე კონკურსის პარტნიორმა Pro Credit ბანკმა ნორვეგიის საელჩო რჩეულ მონაწილედ დაასახელა პლასტმასას ნარჩენების შემცირებისა და გარემოსდაცვით საკითხებში მისი მრავალფეროვანი მიდგომების გამო.
პლასტმასას ნარჩენებისგან დაბინძურების პრევენცია ნორვეგიის ერთ-ერთი უმთავრესი პრიორიტეტია არა მხოლოდ ლოკალურად, არამედ საერთაშორისო დონეზე. შესაბამისად, ნორვეგიის საელჩო, როგორც ნორვეგიის ოფიციალური წარმომადგენლობა საქართველოში, აქტიურად უჭერს მხარს გარემოს დაცვით ინიციატივებს.

On October 6th, the Norwegian Embassy attended the Beat Plastic Pollution Competition award ceremony, hosted by CENN. At the event, the project partner ProCredit Bank awarded special prizes to the Norwegian Embassy as the preferred participant, for its diverse approaches to plastic waste reduction and environmental issues.
Prevention of plastic waste pollution is one of Norway's top priorities, not only locally, but internationally. Accordingly, the Norwegian Embassy in Tbilisi, as the official representative of Norway actively supports and promotes environmental initiatives in Georgia.
The embassy has joined the Competition since its announcement and was actively involved in the single-use plastic products reduction measures.
Our heartfelt thanks to The Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN) for implementing such an important campaign and for the excellent cooperation within the project. Norwegian Embassy congratulates all the winners of the competition.

On September 29, the exhibition "In the Light of Neon" by the Norwegian Contemporary artist, Per Hess was opened at Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery of Georgia.
First Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia Ioseb Baghaturia, Ambassador of Norway to Georgia, Bergliot Hovland, and the artist himself attended the event.
Visitors will be able to see the artworks at the National Gallery until October 30.
