嶺南大學（嶺大）於2024/25學年透過「頂尖運動員直接入學計劃」（計劃）取錄三名精英運動員🏆，他們分別於各自的運動項目上取得傑出成就，包括單車運動員🚴‍♂️吳森鐳、武術散打運動員🥋李嘉儀，以及冰球運動員🏒賴柏綸。自嶺大於2022/23學年推行該計劃起，至今已取錄8名傑出運動員。吳森鐳同學及李嘉儀同學透過計劃入讀嶺大運動教練學及盛事管理（榮譽）社會科學學士三年級，賴柏綸同學則入讀嶺大數據科學（榮譽）理學士一年級。

Lingnan University has admitted three elite student-athletes through the Direct Entry Stream for Top Athletes (DESTA) for the 2024/25 academic year🏆. The successful candidates cyclist 🚴‍♂️Ng Sum-lui, Wushu Sanda athlete 🥋Li Ka-yee, and ice hockey player 🏒Patten Lai have achieved outstanding results in their respective sports. Since the scheme was launch in the 2022/23 academic year, Lingnan University has accepted a total of eight elite athletes. Ng Sum-lui and Li Ka-yee were admitted to the third year of the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Sports Coaching and Event Management, while Patten Lai will start his first year in the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Data Science.

2024年5月31日至6月2日，約40位的嶺大體育校隊成員及職員到訪中山大學嶺南學院，進行運動比賽及交流。團隊參觀了富有歷史文化氣息的中山大學校園，感受嶺南的紅❤️灰🩶精神和歷史文化。我們期待下一年在屯門校園舉辦董事會盃，歡迎中山大學的朋友們！ 🎉 嶺南一家親！ 🫶🏻🏫

📣 Our Lingnan University delegation had a wonderful time at the Lingnan College of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) for the traditional Lingnan Board of Directors' Cup Guangzhou-Hong Kong Student Exchange Programme 2024! 🏆

Our sports teams and staff delegates showcased their skills and sportsmanship in exchanges and competitions between 31 May and 2 June 2024. From the 3-point shooting contest to the 5-on-5 basketball🏀 competition and fencing battles🤺, our athletes gave it their all!

We also enjoyed the historical scenes at the Sun Yat-sen University, which reflects Lingnan's red❤️grey🩶 spirit and history. We eagerly look forward to hosting the Directors' Cup at our Tuen Mun campus in 2025 and welcoming our SYSU friends for another unforgettable experience! 🎉 Lingnan truly feels like a family! 🫶🏻🏫

🎊Congratulations to Zhao Yangchun, a Year 3 student of BBA (Hons), and Wang Zhenyu, an alumnus of Higher Diploma in Chinese Media Writing and Production, represented the University in the “8th "Kede Cup" National University Student Drone Aerial Photography Competition” in Beijing and won the Excellent Award with their work titled “向陽而生”🎖️.

This competition provides a platform for university students to showcase their innovative achievements in the field of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and inject their vitality into the development of the UAV industry.

Do you have any unwanted goods in hostels? 🏡 Trying to unload stacks of books to make way for more space at home? OSA invited Yan Oi Tong “Tuen Mun Recycling Station” to collect second-hand items, including stationery, kitchenware, household goods, electronic devices, clothing and handers, and books (including textbooks and reference books) that are at least 80% new, working and without damage. Staff and students are welcome to donate the second-hand items during from today until 17 May (hostel mass check-out date) at Kin Sun Square (Skylight Plaza) for distributing to the needy by “Tuen Mun Recycling Station” afterwards. 💚

嶺南大學義工服務日2024
嶺南大學 (嶺大) 以「作育英才．服務社會」為校訓，學生事務處（OSA）與熱心於義工服務的學生社團和學生攜手合作，為嶺南大學義工服務日組織了一系列多元化的義工服務。今年，嶺大大學生義工隊C.Connects與大學青年會 (嶺大) 攜手合作，於2024年2月至4月期間發起並舉辦了七個義工服務項目。團隊聯繫了不同的非牟利組織和機構，合作伙伴包括屯門青磚圍遇貓堂、鄰舍輔導會富泰鄰里康齡中心、惜食堂以及香港中華基督教青年會轄下的兩個中心(屯門會所及彩暉多元文化中心)。參與學生在設計和執行這些多元化的義工服務項目中展現了他們卓越的領導能力、適應能力和創造力。
以上七個義工服務項目已於4月13日圓滿舉行，惠及了多個年齡階層的人士及曾被遺棄的動物。受眾包括老年人、兒童、少數族裔青年和需要食物援助的人士。逾45名嶺大學生義工積極參與了這些項目，對社區中80多位受眾產生了正面影響。學生義工們獲得了受眾和合作單位的讚賞和感激之外，同時他們也覺得這些項目意義深遠且啟發人心。通過參與這些服務項目，他們有機會與來自不同背景階層的人士進行互動，進一步豐富了他們的義工服務經驗，培養同理心和關懷精神。嶺南大學義工服務日真正體現了嶺大校訓，鼓勵學生身體力行，為社會作出貢獻。

LU Service Day 2024
In support of Lingnan University's motto of "Education for Service", the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) partnered with student societies and dedicated students to organise a series of diverse service projects for the LU Service Day. Lingnan C.Connects and University YMCA (Lingnan University) collaborated to initiate and carry out seven service projects from February to April 2024. These projects involved partnerships with various NGOs and local organisations, including Yu Meow Tong, Fu Tai Neighbourhood Elderly Centre, Food Angel, and two centres under the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong, namely the Tuen Mun Centre and the Brilliant Multicultural Centre. The participating students demonstrated exceptional leadership, adaptability, and creativity in designing and implementing these projects.
All seven service projects were successfully completed by 13 April, benefiting a wide range of individuals and animals. Beneficiaries included the elderly, children, ethnic minority youth, and people in need of food assistance. Over 45 Lingnan student volunteers actively participated in these projects, positively impacting over 80 beneficiaries in the community. The student volunteers received praise and appreciation from the beneficiaries and partner NGOs. They also found the projects to be meaningful and inspiring. Through their engagement, they had the opportunity to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds, enriching their service experience and fostering empathy and compassion. LU Service Day exemplifies the university spirit by empowering students to contribute to the betterment of society through dedicated service.

The ‘Cultural March of Symphony’ has been an incredible success!.🎊👏 We would like to thank the LU cultural ambassadors, non-local students from Central Asia and the Lingnan University Lion Dance and Martial Arts team for organising such a fantastic array of multicultural workshops and sharing sessions for Lingnan students. From the awe-inspiring Chinese Lion Dance workshop to the mouthwatering Hong Kong Cha Chaan Teng food tasting,🥧☕sharing childhood memories across cultures, and participating in different cultural games. The Bollywood night and Central Asian festive celebrations were particularly memorable and added a touch of magic to the proceedings.💃🕺Students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in diverse cultures, make friends, and explore the world within the Lingnan community.🌏🔍We are so proud of the inclusivity and diversity that this event celebrated. 油尖旺民政處及區議會社區共融新項目
“普及漢文化 童心創未來”社區推行計劃

嶺南大學學生事務處（OSA）與小小漢語普及愛教育基金合作推廣“普及漢文化 童心創未來”項目，旨在向香港的年幼兒童介紹普通話和中國文化。應油尖旺民政事務處及油尖旺區議會社區共融工作小組邀請，該專案進一步擴展為針對少數族裔社區專門設計的“普及少數族裔家長與孩子的普通話課程”（以下簡稱“課程”）。

課程將於2024年3月16日開始，分為五節課程，共有8對少數族裔兒童及其家長免費參加，年齡介乎4至6歲之間（K2-K3學生），其中族裔包括尼泊爾、巴基斯坦和印尼等。課程導師由嶺南大學學生事務處招募和培訓的內地學生擔任，透過與小朋友輕鬆互動，將普通話融入日常對話和遊戲中。

嶺大中國語文教學與測試中心（下稱“中心”）高級講師周博博士表示，中心一直致力於提升學生的學習體驗，鼓勵他們參與更多的社區服務，培養學生多元化的中文（普通話、粵語和漢語）學習和文化交流。除了教授少數族裔兒童普通話之外，中心還最近與小小漢語普及愛教育基金合作，組織本地幼稚園普通話課程，旨在幫助不同種族的孩子學好普通話，讓幼兒從小學習語言，認識並瞭解中國文化。

Yau Tsim Mong District Office and District Council’s New Project on Community Integration
“Mindful Mandarins Putonghua & Chinese Culture Program”

Office of Student Affairs (OSA) of Lingnan University has partnered with the Mindful Mandarins Foundation to promote the "Mindful Mandarins Putonghua & Chinese Culture Program" (the Program), which seeks to introduce Putonghua and Chinese culture to young children in Hong Kong. The Program has been expanded to include the "Mindful Minority Program Parent-child Putonghua Workshop" (the Workshop) specifically designed for the ethnic minority community.

Starting on March 16, 2024, the Workshop consists of five sessions and is open to eight pairs of ethnic minority children, aged 4 to 6 years (K2-K3 students) and their parents. The workshop will be conducted by Mainland students, recruited and trained by OSA, who will incorporate Putonghua into daily conversations and games in a relaxed manner.

Dr. ZHOU Bo, Senior Lecturer of Chinese Language Education and Assessment Centre (the Centre) at Lingnan University, emphasises that the Centre has been striving to enhance students' learning experiences and encouraging their participation in community services, cultivating their diversified Chinese language (Mandarin, Cantonese, and Chinese) learning and cultural exchange.

嶺南大學國旗護衛隊獲入境事務學院的邀請，於3月2日舉行的入境事務處青少年領袖團聯校升旗手大賽2024擔任表演嘉賓，向一眾參賽中學旗手示範升國旗及分享升國旗的技巧與心得。

The Lingnan University Flag Guard Team was invited by the Immigration Service Institute of Training and Development to serve as a guest performer at the Immigration Department Youth Leaders Corps Joint School Flag Raising Competition 2024 held on 2 March 2024. The team demonstrated the raising of the national flag and shared their experiences and some flag-raising skills with the secondary school students.

嶺大陸運會2024回顧 - 超過300名運動員參加🏃🏃‍♀️

嶺大陸運會2024於2月21日已順利完成，活動吸引超過300名運動健兒，在23項個人比賽及9項接力比賽中進行連番精彩賽事，競逐殊榮。

經過一輪激烈的比賽，團體獎項中的男子及女子團體冠軍🏆分別由嶺南大學持續進修學院(LIFE)及跨學科學院(SIS)奪得，跨學科學院更獲得團體總冠軍殊榮🏆。個人獎項方面，LIFE姚敬琛同學🏅分別在男子100米、200米及跳遠奪取三面金牌後以全勝姿態勇奪男子個人全場總冠軍！女子個人全場總冠軍則由女子100米欄、200米及跳遠三項金牌得主嘅SIS朱昊晴同學🏅奪得！

今年陸運亦刷新了三項大會紀錄！SIS學生吳永濠以54秒00佳績打破男子400米大會紀錄。SIS以3分46秒40的成績打破院際男子4 X 400米接力賽大會紀錄。學生事務處接力隊以56秒34的成績打破教職員4 X 100米接力賽大會紀錄。

嶺南大學陸運會2024圓滿結束，活動推廣了體育及競技精神，亦促進了同學之間的合作和交流。再一次恭喜各位得獎者以及感謝所有同學及工作人員的參與及協助！

Over 300 athletes participated in LU Sports Day 2024🏃🏃‍♀️

Over 300 athletes participated in 23 individual and 9 relay events at the Lingnan University Sports Day 2024 on 21 February at Lingnan University Pan Sutong Sports Ground.

After rounds of exciting competition, Men’s Overall Championship 🏆was claimed by Lingnan Institute of Further Education (LIFE), while the Women’s Overall and Overall Championship🏆 titles went to the School of Interdisciplinary Studies (SIS). Standout performances included LIFE student YIU King Sum🏅 dominating the Men’s Individual events, and SIS student Chu Ho Ching🏅 shining in the Women’s Individual events, winning 3 gold medals each to claim the men's and women's individual champion.

This year, three new records were set at Sports Day! SIS student Ng Wing Ho smashed the Men’s 400m record with the result of 54.0 seconds. Team SIS broke the Men’s Inter-Faculty 4 X 400m Relay record with the result 3 minutes and 46.4 seconds, and Team OSA set a new record in the Staff 4 X 100m relay with a time of 56.34 seconds.

LU Sports Day 2024 was a fantastic showcase of sportsmanship and collaboration among students. Congratulations to all the winners, and a big thank you to the prize winners, participants, and helpers for making the day a huge success!

Spring Festival 2024 cm Launch Ceremony of the “LingArt” Programme on the Promotion & Inheritance of Chinese Culture was successfully held on January 31, 2024. 🎉 Chinese New Year holds great significance in Chinese culture. It was a memorable occasion that brought together students and staff to celebrate the start of a new year while promoting the appreciation and preservation of Chinese culture. 🧧
The entire event was filled with cultural vibrancy, showcasing traditional Chinese Lion dance, enchanting melodies from Dizi performance, singing by students of different nationalities 🎤, and elegant Chinese dance routines. 💃🏻 Cultural Booths were also set up to exhibit the diverse cultures at Lingnan, allowing students and staff to explore and appreciate different cultures around the globe while immersing themselves in the joyful atmosphere of Chinese New Year. 🌏🎊
Organised by OSA, the “LingArt” Programme on the Promotion & Inheritance of Chinese Culture is a two-year programme, aims to promote Chinese culture and showcase its richness and uniqueness.
