New liftstrong training phase kicked off this morning.. we're going back to basics this phase, Olympic lifting is on ice for a while we go back and work on some fundamentals, different squat variations, deadlifts, pressing, hinging, carries, core work.. all that good stuff ๐๐ฆ

It's never a great day when a member leaves the gym for one reason or another, but in this instance im genuinely buzzing for the man & the legend as he leaves for Germany shortly to start a new journey as a kit designer with . Best of luck with the new gig, I'm sure you will smash it & thanks for all the support over the last few years... until we train again ๐

Great to have my uncle Tom & cousin Liam visiting from Australia, in for a class this morning.
They wanted to put to use some of the strength they've gained from drinking pints of stout over the last couple weeks.

It's week 8 of this training phase, so that means it's the last week, and we are testing to see the progress made over the last couple of months.

Next week will be a freestyle week before heading into the Xmas break and then starting a fresh phase of training in the new year.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE ?
What is the difference between a good class and a bad class? Firstly, let's establish what makes a bad class, IMO.
Bad class:
โ๏ธ Random exercise selection
โ๏ธ No intent behind the program other than to make you sweat and work as hard as possible.
โ๏ธ No consideration of training experience/ age / pre-existing or current injuries
โ๏ธ Constant loud shouting / motivation by the instructor
โ๏ธ Sh*tty high tempo music thats so loud I can barely hear the coach shouting at the top of their voice.
โ๏ธ No 1 to 1 coaching other than getting you to do more reps
โ๏ธ Poor exercise demonstration
โ๏ธ No correction of technique
โ๏ธ Low quality of movements
โ๏ธ Repetitive workouts with no progression.
โ๏ธ Too many people in the class
โ๏ธ Not enough coaches.
Training in a class like this can certainly make you feel like you have done some work, it will "burn some Calories" & "sweat out the weekend" & probably leave you sore in the coming days and for some people that is all they want from their training and that's fine.

We offer x 4 stretch & move classes each week.
The combo of strength training + stretching/mobility training we offer in our classes,we believe, is pure gold for developing a body that is strong & moves well.
This class is suitable for all levels, and there is something in it for everyone, whether your goal is to touch your toes for the first time or work towards the splits.
- STRAIGHT ARM STRENGTH -
One of the qualities we focus on in our Bodyweigh-strong classes is straight arm strength.
It is a necessary movement that is required for more advanced bodyweight movements such as:
- front & back levers
- skin the cats
- Handstands
Plus many others..
Having a good level of straight arm strength will also allow you to be stronger in the lockout out position of many other conventional lifts in the gym such as:
- overhead pressing
- bench pressing
- dips
- snatching etc..
As if that wasn't enough, it is also known to form a collection of lean muscle tissue at the head of the shoulder known as the deltoid vortex as demonstrated here by Justyna.. be careful not to stare into the centre of it as it may just swallow you whole.

*STRETCH & MOVE CLASS* What is it ?
This class is all about increasing your range of motion.
We use a variety of stretching & strengthening techniques such as passive, active, loaded, and partner to increase range of motion in the muscles and the joints.
As with all of our classes and as you can see from some of the pictures, this class is suitable for all levels of flexibility, whether you consider yourself the really stiff or really bendy type or somewhere in between.
Its aim is to meet you where you are currently at and increase your bodies overall range of motion.

LIFTSTRONG CLASS - what is it ??
This is one of three classes we offer - think structured 8 - week training programs, barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, lifting weights.
This class is for anyone who wants to learn the correct technique for all of the big lifts, get strong, build muscle & tone up.
Like all of our classes, this class is suitable for absolute beginners all the way up to experienced lifters.
We will tailor any movement in the program to suit your current ability and / or any injuries you may have.
We will be making our timetable public in the coming days, so keep an eye out for that. If you have any questions, feel free to drop us a DM.

Nice progress made by Dan in this movement we've started to work on recently ๐
Dan is rehabing his shoulder after having surgery at Christmas and we are seeing steady strength improvements across the board each week.
We have just started to incorporate this movement " the trap 3 raise " into his program and it's a great movement to strengthen the lower traps & teach the shoulders (scapular) to efficiently move overhead.
One of my go to's when aiming to re-store good overhead shoulder mechanics ๐ฅ
As you can see the difference is night and day from when we first introduced this movement obout a week ago.
