With so many lovely dogs and cats passing through our practice, we have found ourselves at a shortage of soft cosy bedding.

If you would happen to have any spare blankets at home that are no longer of use, we would kindly ask that you might think of popping them in to us.

They would be so greatly appreciated by us and our furry patients!

Unfortunately at this time, we have no need for towels. We also cannot accept duvets, sheets, pillows etc.

🐈🦮 National Pet I.D week 🐈🦮

The distinctive ID number on your pet's chip will be the most reliable method of identifying you as the pet's owner in the event they become lost or stolen. ‼️
All dogs in Ireland must be microchipped and registered on an authorised database by law.
If adopting or rehoming a pet, they should have a microchip installed before they may go to their new home 🏡
After the microchip is inserted, it is just as important to ensure it is registered to the owner, without a registration, the microchip is of no benefit.
If you are unsure if your pets microchip is registered or if the details are up to date, please feel free to give us a call and we can check this for you🐈‍⬛🐕‍🦺

🐣 EASTER 🐣

Easter is a lovely time to relax with our loved ones (two-legged🧍‍♂️🧍‍♀️and four-legged 🐈🐕) and, of course, to enjoy some chocolate 🍫
⚡️With that, we want to give a big reminder that any chocolate is HIGHLY TOXIC to our pets. If ingested, it can cause serious illness in dogs and cats⚡️

All the more for us humans to enjoy 😉

🐈‍⬛️❤️Forever home needed 🐈‍⬛️ ❤️

This lovely girl, Freya, is looking for her forever home 🏡 She is 7 years old and she is currently being fostered with a member of staff. Ideally she would need to be in a single cat household, but seems to do well with dogs and loves cuddles from people and children 💙

Unfortunately, her teeth have been extracted due to dental issues, so we would need an owner to be aware of this.

Freya is a real sweetheart and wants nothing more than to curl up on the couch with her forever person 💕

🌟 A small message from Cornelie, as she returns from her vaccination drive with Mission Rabies 🌟

A big thank you from myself and the mission rabies Mumbai team for all of your amazing support!
We managed to vaccinate 26,000 stray dogs against rabies , reaching the 70 % vaccination coverage that is required.
Our education teams successfully held multiple information drives aimed at children in rabies hotspots.

It was a very successful campaign that would result in a rapid decrease of both canine and human rabies deaths.
It is the first step towards creating a rabies free Mumbai.

During the mission, I met many families who lost children due to a rabies bite. It is a horrible cruel disease both for the dogs and their human companions.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support in helping both these lovely dogs and their humans ❤️

Pet neutering awareness month 🩺🐶🐱

Neutering has significant health benefits for your pets.
In many areas, there is a problem with overpopulation in cats and dogs. Many pets are euthanised each year, because there are no homes for them. We can prevent this by neutering our pets.

Benefits;
Females
* Significantly reduces the risks of reproductive organ cancer
* Eliminates the chances of pyometra (A serious and potentially life-threatening infection of the womb, very common in un-neutered female dogs)
* Avoids unwanted pregnancies
* Reduces the want to roam in search for a mate

Males
* Also reduces the risk of testicular and prostatic cancers
* Less likely to roam
* Male cats are less likely to fight, which can lead to diseases, abscesses and infections resulting from bites
* Less likely to be dominating and aggressive
* Less likely to mark their territory by urinating in the house

In both males and females, neutering at an early age can help with behavioural issues as it stabilises their hormone levels.

What age can I neuter my pet?
In dogs, both male and female can be neutered from 6-9 months depending on their size and breed. Large dog breeds should ideally wait until they are around 15+ months, to allow them to finish growing.

In cats, both sexes can be neutered from 4-6 months, Females should be done as early as possible as they mature quite quickly.

These recommendations can vary with each individual pet, so book a pre-neuter appointment with one of our nurses to have a chat about getting your pet booked in for their procedure 🐶🐱

🪥🦷 National pet dental health month🪥🦷

While February is national pet dental health month, dental health should be a daily ritual for pet owners all year long.
Studies have shown that a healthy mouth can impact our pets overall health🐱🐶
Dental disease can have adverse effects on the heart, kidneys and other major organs. 🫀

Did you know that up to 85% of cats aged three and over have some form of dental disease 🐈‍⬛ Dental disease can be very painful if left untreated.

Signs your pet may be in need of some dental treatment;
-Bad breath
-Pain or difficulty eating
-Weight loss
-Plaque and tartar buildup
-Inflamed gums and damaged teeth
-Excessive drooling
-Pawing at their mouth

How can you prevent this?
-Brush your pets teeth! Use a pet safe toothpaste, which you can pick up in our hospital🪥
-Make an appointment to have their teeth checked📆
-Feed a good diet, dry food/nuts/kibble, help clean the teeth 🦴
-Dental toys, which help clean teeth/gums🦷
