State consultation on DRR and Food and Nutrition Security is in progress at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar.
Recently IAG odisha Participated at the State level consultation workshop on prepration of Block & GP level Disaster Management Plans held recently at SIRD Bhubaneswar.
During the inaugural session, Sri Pradeep Jena, IAS, DC-cum-ACS & MD OSDMA and Sri A K Meena, IAS, Principal Secretary, PR & DW Deptt opined about the planning process and requirements of linking local development plans and convergence aspects.
Dr. Gyana Ranjan Das, IAS Executive Director Odisha State Disaster Management Authority presided the meeting also ilucidately described about the plans with the participants.
Sri S N Das, Spl Secy, Sri Maheswar Panigrahi, Addl Secretary, UN Agencies, ADMs, Chief Development Officer, field Officials, PRI members,OSDMA/SRC Officials and other stakeholders participated in the said workshop.
Many areas which are not traditionally flood-prone across the country are inundated now. The coping capacity of the people in such areas is low and the humanitarian agencies wishing to work for the affected community are finding it tough to reach out to those in remote pockets. Taking this grim situation into account, Sphere India conducted a much-needed and timely session on ‘Flood Situation in India-Status, Needs, Response and Pathway’ last week. At the session, expert panelists from the government, IAG, and CSOs reviewed the status of the flood situation across India and particularly in Assam. Recently our Chairperson Sri. Akshaya Kumar Biswal and State IAG Coordinator- Mr.Manoranjan Behera met Dr.Gyana Das,IAS - Executive Director of Odisha State Disaster Management Authority at State Secretariat.
During the meeting they discussed about GO-NGO coordination at state and district level, possible collaboration of SDMA in various DRR and Resilience Building activities.
During the occasion they also presented newly published Disaster Resilient WASH training manual prepared by IAG Odisha, OSDMA and Oxfam India under the aegis of UNICEF India
It's worth mentioning that- a similar training manual on Risk Informed Development was also published by IAG Odisha as a part of SIDM strengthening initiative.

WFP India’s current Country Strategic Plan (CSP) 2019-2023, which is aligned to the national priorities, is focused on providing technical support and capacity strengthening to the Government towards achieving their targets under SDG 2 (Zero Hunger).
UNWFP is an integral part of IAG Odisha, it has been working very actively to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Government’s three food-based safety-net programme (ICDS, TPDS and MDM) through supply chain optimization, support to smallholders, food fortification and the application of appropriate technology.
