one at the Exemplary school. At present, the school has about 250 students, with approximately 25 per class. They are taught all scientific subjects, such as chemistry, physics, and science, in English. They also devote themselves to more hours of studying the English language, which make them better prepared for University, or an international work place. We try to provide the school with teachers from abroad to develop the teaching methods, and take part in the general school work. The school year starts in September and ends in May, with six days of teaching a week, six hours a day. In the summer, they run extra courses for the students. The subjects vary from those of scientific nature, to art and music. Since the summers are long and hot in Iraqi Kurdistan, these are popular courses, very much appreciated by the students. For the academic year 2007-2008, 31 students graduated from the school successfully and joined the universities of Kurdistan as follow; 10 students in the college of Engineering, 8 in the college of Medicine, 4 in the college of Pharmacy, 2 in the college of Economy and Administration, and the rest in the colleges of Veterinary, Science, Languages, Human Sciences, Trade, and Agriculture. It is also worth mentioning that seven of the fourteen firsts of the private English based schools in Kurdistan for the academic year 2007-2008 were from Shahid Jabar Exemplary High School. Currently, for the academic year 2008-2009, 106 male and 107 female students are studying at the school.
