Tuna Fisheries Alliance of Kenya was in attendance at WWF regional training on Environmental and Social Framework that was held in Macaneta, Maputo, Mozambique from 17-19th of October 2023. In attendance were CSOs implementing the SWIO Sustainable Blue Economy Programme from Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Madagascar and South Africa.
Tuna Fisheries Alliance of Kenya is represented in the ongoing training on Advocacy and Communications for the Southwest Indian Ocean region from 15-19 of August at Madinat Al Bahr hotel in Zanzibar. Workshop participants are from the SWIO countries including, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Comoros. The training workshop is supported by WWF by the SWIO SBE programme through funding from the NORAD grant.
TuFAK through the Sustainable Blue Economy programme convened a two day meeting from 9-10 of October 2023 at the Mombasa Continental Resort to review and update it's advocacy strategy to incorporate key actions to support the implementation of SBE, Minimum Terms and Conditions (MTCs) guidelines, as well as addressing IUU fishing in the country. In attendance was the secretariat and a few members of the board.
Day 2 of the TuFAK workshop on developing a TuFAK sustainable blue economy policy brief at Nyali Sun Africa Beach Hotel Mombasa. The focus is on developing high level strategic objectives of the Policy brief.
TuFAK is undertaking a two day workshop at Nyali Sun Africa Beach Hotel, Mombasa on 4th and 5th of May 2023. The purpose of the workshop is to develop a TuFAK policy brief on Sustainable Blue Economy for engaging the national government. As a national CSO TuFAK will submit key recommendations to the national Blue Economy secretariat to guide the development of the national Blue Economy strategy which is being spearheaded by the state department of blue economy and Fisheries. In attendance are members drawn from the BMUs, NGOs, and community based organizations.
TuFAK is attending CSO Advocacy Capacity Building Workshop March 31, 2023 at Eden Bleu Hotel, Eden Island, Seychelles. The workshop is organized by WWF through the SWIO Sustainable Blue Economy programme.
TuFAK is represented at the Regional workshop on promoting Transparency for Sustainable Marine Fisheries through Collective Actions in the Southwest Indian Ocean (SWIO) Region. The Regional workshop is jointly organized by the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy of Seychelles, WWF, and the Fisheries Transparency Initiative (FiTI).
Day 3 training on Leadership and Governance at Nyali Sun Africa Beach Hotel Mombasa
TuFAK is represented in the training workshop on Leadership and Governance from 21-24May 2023 at Sun Africa Beach Hotel. The training is facilitated by WWF Kenya and in attendance are CSOs supported by WWF Kenya at the coast. The training targets persons in leadership positions.
Attending the National validation of the national blue economy strategy today at Lake Naivasha Resort. The CS for Mining, blue economy and Maritime affairs Mr. Salim Mvurya is the chief guest. Participation is drawn from national government line ministries, County governments, development partners, National blue economy resources associations, regional blue economy associations, CBOs and other experts
Attending the Small scale Fisheries congress at Lagoon Beach hotel, Cape Town South Africa November 21-23, 2022. In attendance are participants from the public service, NGOs, CSOs, individual participants, CBOs, private sectors etc.
TuFAK was represented at the WWF workshop on low cost data collection and MCS tools for the SWIO region. In attendance were participants from 16 countries mainly from the SWIO and SADC region. The workshop took place at Victoria Junction Court Hotel Cape Town, South Africa from 14-17 November 2022.
TuFAK members attended a two day training on right based approach to Fisheries management and equity in Fisheries access arrangements in the SWIO region from 17-18 October 2022 in Dar es Salaam. The training was convened by SWIOTUNA.
