Millions of Kenyans, particularly youths, who break their backs every day to earn a living, have for years failed to benefit from their self-acquired skills for lack of a certificate ascertaining their exceptional abilities.

That will no longer be the case with the new Recognition of Prior Learning Policy that will allow formal certification of their skills opening a world of job opportunities to them.

The Policy recognises and dignifies the extraordinary abilities of Jua Kali artisans and millions of hustlers who form the bedrock of our economy, and are in all spheres of life.

As promised by President William Ruto, this cadre of Kenyans who have been overlooked for many years for lack of a certificate will henceforth be dignified as they continue building the nation.

Today, it was exciting to launch the Recognition of Prior Learning Policy (RPL) in Nairobi and award certificates to 900 RPL Cohort 1 Graduates.

Congratulations to the graduates and best wishes to them.

With me to witness this momentous occassion were Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu, Principal Secretaries Belio Kipsang (Basic Education), Esther Muoria (TVETs), Beatrice Inyangala (Higher Education), Charles Hinga (Housing), Shadrack Mwadime (Labour), Solicitor General Shadrack Mose, Kericho Governor Erick Mutai, Nairobi Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri, Jua Kali Federation Chief Executive Officer Richard Muteti, among other leaders.

I would like to thank the President, H.E. William Samoei Ruto, CS Hon. Alice Wahome and Super PS Hon. Charles Hinga for the opportunity.

This will be a platform to create more opportunities for comrades and the youth as well as aid in helping the government deliver effectively to the people.

Am humbled to have participated & witnessed the assenting to Bill of the Affordable Housing Plan(AHP), not just as a representative of comrades but also as the ambassador of AHP.

Key focus: Affordable Students Accommodation

I thanked the President for considering institutional housing in the wider AHP context. This will create a plethora of opportunities, either directly or indirectly.

This is also an indicator that going forward, comrades, upo mwanga mbele.

A Kenyatta University BUS carrying STUDENTS from the School of Public Health to Mombasa has been involved in a FATAL ACCIDENT at near MAUNGU in Taita Taveta.

The bus collided with a trailer and several students are feared dead others injured.
