Olga Safonova - a felt artist. Sell finished work, customize and teach. Already more then 10 years in felting art.
I gave up on dry felting for many years because I didn’t know this! 😅
When I first tried dry felting, I spent countless hours and put all my effort into the pieces you see in this video. Back then, I decided that dry felting just wasn’t for me. So, I abandoned it for MANY years and ended up with a major inferiority complex. 😔
It turned out, however, that it wasn’t me who was untalented — it was the poor quality of the tools! Let’s be honest, they were terrible!!! 😬 Only years later did I finally come across high-quality felting needles and tried them out. This made all the difference! If it weren’t for that moment, who knows if I would have ever created so many pieces? 🎨
So, when people ask me what needle I use and how much it costs, I can see it in your eyes — “I’ll buy it on Amazon, Temu, or some other cheaper site.” Trust me, you won’t save any money this way, only bring yourself more trouble. 😖
I’ll share the brand and number of the tested felting needle at the end of the video. I’ve stuck with this brand ever since, and all my best works have been created with their needles! 😍 I also want to mention that Japan and England make good tools too. Chinese manufacturers, however, have yet to produce anything remarkable in this regard. 🤷♀️
Where to find them? On Etsy. There are many great sellers there.
And if you're in Oslo, you can get this treasure from me directly! 😉 just let me know in DM.
For those heading to SelfMade shops, I’ve tested the needles there too, and unfortunately, the quality just isn’t the same.

Why should you order a realistic artwork from me? 😊
😍In 13 years of work, I’ve received only one review stating the result didn't quite meet expectations. Just one review in all these years because I always strive for perfection. I work with an upfront payment, but I guarantee a full refund if the artwork objectively doesn't resemble the original. 💪
😍 You can ask me any questions about the work process and share additional wishes. I’m easy to find on social media, and I’m almost always available. I don't hide! 😎
😍 We can, and should, chat about your furry friend. People trust me with their stories, and they stay between us unless you give me permission to share them. 🐾
😍 You’ll receive a detailed, near-exact copy of your pet, with that unforgettable expression on their face. 😍
😍 You don’t need to worry about beautiful packaging (especially important if it's a gift). I’ll take care of that too. 🎁
😍 You’ll always know exactly what you're getting, because before shipping, I send you photos and videos for approval. You can request changes if needed. ✨
😍 Customer focus. Anyone who contacts me gets full attention and answers to all their questions. 🫶
😍 Politeness. Something ingrained in me since childhood and impossible to lose over time. 😊
😍 Friendliness. I'm a people-friendly person! 🤗

The other day I started thinking: how much have I accomplished over all these years of felting! 🤩
So, I decided to count. It turned out that my numbers tell a whole story!!
😃 13 years ago, I first picked up wool and fell in love with this material.
🔥 During this time, I have created 475 unique commissioned pieces.
🔥 364 clients were thrilled with my creations.
🔥 I have been teaching for 7 years and have taught 113 students the intricacies of felting.
🔥 My creations have spread all over the world and now reside in 9 countries: Estonia, Germany, USA, Netherlands, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Norway, Kazakhstan.
🔥 I have mastered numerous techniques and only twice received feedback that the work was not quite what was expected.
🔥 In 2021, I opened my own workshop but closed it due to relocation.
🔥 I have participated in exhibitions, given television interviews, and been published in specialized magazines.
🔥 I constantly receive amazed feedback: "WOW! How do you do that?!"
I wanted to calculate how much wool I used for all my work and realized it's like finding a needle in a haystack 😀
These numbers may be "dry," but I felt each one as I wrote them. With love and great gratitude to everything and everyone - your felt artist, Olga Safonova.
❤❤❤
Dear friends! Let me briefly share what felting is.
Felting from wool is a process.
That's all, period 🤣 no!
Felting is a process in which wool fibers are combined into a single fabric under the influence of heat, moisture, alkali, and mechanical action.
There are several types of wool based on production methods, but the most popular are carded wool (or wool batting), roving wool (combed top), fleece, and sliver.
And there are 2 methods to felt this wool - dry and wet, but more on that in the next episode 🙂
Have you ever done felting? Do you have any felted items?
I remember how in school I passed my literature exam with a 5 🤩 it was my triumph! I prepared diligently and memorized poems.
They gave me the grade without listening to all my answers and gave me high praise for my expressive recitation ☺️.
I recall how much I loved reading poems passionately, how much I anticipated that exam, and looked forward to the moment of recitation and glory 🤤. This excitement, of course, was conveyed to my listeners.
What I love, what I enjoy, I do with immense pleasure and dedication. Conversely, if I don't like something, if I don't see value in it for myself or others, I can't engage in it at all.
I can't pretend. This trait has, of course, extended throughout my life and my career. I genuinely love my life, the people in it, and what I do, and I give it my all! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
It's time to refresh the memory (or for some, to read this for the first time) – who I am and what I do.
My name is Olga Safonova, nice to meet you! 😍
I have a degree in social and cultural services and tourism. I still travel with great pleasure, but my true passion is creativity. I've been creating things with my hands since childhood.
Since 2011, I've been "hooked" on felting 😃 Initially, I combined it with knitting on commission, but soon my interest in felting turned into a passion, and I put aside my needles and hooks, diving fully into my woolen wonderland. My workshops have been published in specialized magazines and even featured on TV 😉.
I'm constantly drawn to exploring felt from different perspectives, so I master both wet and dry felting techniques. I've made scarves, hats, mittens, bags, street shoes, and of course, slippers. Currently, I'm more immersed in dry felting, creating realistic, detailed works.
By nature, I'm a sociable person and love sharing happiness. I also believe that every person is talented 😍😍😍.
Everyone has a gift that can be developed, so I started sharing my knowledge through workshops for both children and adults!
In 2018, I left my job and haven't gone back since 😀. In 2021, I opened my own workshop, but due to a move, I had to close it. Now, I've focused my efforts on sharing my knowledge, love for this craft, and belief in you online. My plans include creating interesting workshops for those who simply want to spend a pleasant evening, as well as courses for those striving to reach new heights!
Phew! I think I've told you everything!
Now, tell me, what do you do? 😊
‼‼‼‼ Everything in this world is interconnected!
Those who have known me for a long time probably know how much I love nature, and those who don't, I'm sharing it with you! ))
I love it so much! It is my inspiration, recreation, an infinite resource that restores without even asking for anything in return. Every leaf, every tree, every animal is a whole universe full of amazing details, subtleties and feelings. (I've always wanted to get inside an animal's head to feel how they live and think)))😅
💥 My felted sculptures are more than just an animal figure, they are an attempt to convey the unique connection we feel when we see and observe the life of another living being. Through my work, I strive to show how nature affects us, calms us, inspires us, and how we are connected to it.
‼ You know, I often hear from my clients who order figures of their animals that have escaped to the rainbow that this sculpture helps them feel the presence of their friend, remember funny stories and favorite habits. 🐾 And it got me thinking that maybe working with natural, natural materials and creating lifelike images out of them is a way to strengthen our connection with the natural world and our faithful friends?
Oh, and I'd love to hear your stories. What moments with your pets have been particularly meaningful to you? How do you see them reflected in art or the world around you? Your stories and memories can become part of something bigger, inspire you to create something new. Like, for example, Cynthia inspired me to create the realistic chihuahua figure course I'm currently writing!)
🐾 Share your photos and stories in the comments! I look forward to seeing how nature and your loyal friends inspire each of you! 🎨🍃
WOOOOOW! 600 already!!!!

Here's a brief rundown of my artistic journey:
🤩I specialize in wet felting technique and also dry needle felting. However, my passion for the last 4 years has been the latter.
❤️🔥I enjoy exploring new ideas in my art, which is why I create various types of wool works.
🤩I’ve been taking orders since 2012 and have achieved a high rating on "Craftsmen's Fair" (Yarmarka Masterov – a Russian platform for selling and buying handmade goods, similar to Etsy).
🙌My workshops have been published in handcraft-focused magazines.
☺️My works have been exhibited at regional exhibitions.
🙏I’ve been teaching felting since 2017, and I enjoy working with both children and adults.
🫶I offer several online workshops (in Russian only yet) and plan to add more over time. Now in realistic chihuahua course coming 🫶
So what's this page about? I want to share my knowledge of felting as well as updates about my new works and workshops.
☺️My goal is to make this page useful for you, to help you create something special, and to foster warm conversations around felting. Together, we can make the world a little bit more beautiful. Feel free to give me a hand with this – just let me know what you're interested in about felting, and I’ll make a post on your request. Please don't hesitate to ask questions!
Have a nice day and enjoy your creative endeavours!
Details about commissions and online workshops (as it will ready it will be there!) - welcome to my Etsy store https://byolgasafonova.etsy.com
Hello dear friends, I am currently working on a major project. I'm writing a detailed course on creating a realistic Chihuahua figure.
This course will have 5 big parts - drawing, modeling, theory part (about how to felting mat, how to choose wool, needle and much more), practical part - felting and toning. In total, I counted about 20 lessons in this course!
The project is big and requires my full attention, so I hardly post any new posts now. But I will try to fill this gap soon. )
Would you like to know more about the course?
Meet the Burrows family: travelers with big hearts. This story is based on real events, observations, and personal experience. 😊 Fairy tales always live nearby, so the characters we're going to talk about, although made of wool, literally live in the neighboring field. Today, we'll talk about the most charming and adventurous family of mice, the Burrows. This amazing mouse family is not just toys; they are the embodiment of love, freedom, and adventure.
Michael is the soul of the company, a true shirt-off-his-back guy. His main weapons against all adversities are humor and sharp wit. Missy is a creative soul who loves to draw and create comfort in their amazing house on wheels. She is the heart of the Burrows family, creating quiet happiness. They believe that home is where their hearts are, so they are never afraid to set off on a journey. Their house on wheels has everything needed for their sudden adventures, whether it be a picnic by the river or exploring abandoned granaries.
The Burrows are those guys who don't think too long; they trust their feelings. Their meeting was an instant flash of love during their college years, and they have been inseparable ever since. They quickly got married and became parents to two charming mice – Lily and Mark. It's interesting what they will grow up to be and what stories the heroes of this family hold. Where did the cotton and mimosa on their clothes come from?
To not miss any stories of this adventurous family, follow the posts with the hashtag , and you will learn under what strange circumstances Missy and Michael met, how they built their cozy home on wheels, and what adventures await them ahead. I invite you to dive into their stories, full of warmth, love, adventures, decisions of life's complex tasks, and magic.
Also, soon I will offer you a unique opportunity not only to learn more about each of the heroes but also to create your own little mouse family with the help of online master classes!
Get ready for adventures, the stories are just beginning.
And now a question for you: did you like the story of the Burrows family? Did you recognize someone familiar in them? Leave your comment or question; I am eagerly waiting for your feedback!
