Good Shepherd School
Established in 1912, we are a small, high achieving Catholic primary school with huge pride and enthusiasm. "Together We Learn and Care".
In collaboration with our whānau and parish we live by our values of Care, Honesty and Respect.
Earlier this month we held our Quiz Night which is a great chance for our community to get together for a fun night out and fundraise for our school at the same time.
We are delighted to announce that this year we raised over $10,000! This will go towards improving our school pool facilities.
We would like to thank our generous sponsors for their support. Local businesses donated amazing prizes for our auctions; supplied beer, wine and food; provided cash donations and helped decorate our hall. A big thank you also to Jerome for his excellent work as our quizmaster.
Congratulations to all our Good Shepherd School Speech Competition finalists. You displayed impressive courage and skills as you delivered your speeches in front of a packed audience. A special thank you to representatives from Marist College and St Peter’s College who came to help judge this competition!
⛪️🕊️Congratulations to the young people of Good Shepherd Parish who celebrated their first Holy Communion today. What a wonderful group of children we are privileged to walk with in faith. The invitation to ‘come to the feast of heaven and earth’ is lifelong. Let us pray that they will flourish as they are nourished by Jesus who offers himself as ‘the bread of life’🐑🙏🏼😇
The Good Shepherd School Olympics Fundraiser was a huge success. The ambitious goal of 7k was smashed and so the principal was slimed! Thank you to Aimee Greenhough who led the event and Heather McLeod who coordinated from the school end. All the staff and parents who helped and supported were amazing and made this a lifelong memory for our children. A lot of learning and laughter was achieved!!
Fabulous Pink Shirt Day topped off by a superb assembly by Room 6! 🌸💕👚

Friday's Information
Good afternoon whānau
The upper North Island now faces warnings of extreme weather with Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle, a severe category three storm, expected to bring strong wind, heavy rain (potentially 200-400 mm in places) and large swell. Consequently, states of emergency in Thames/Coromandel and Auckland have been extended.
Because of the fast-changing nature of this weather event, it is hard to know in advance the implications for our school and community. It will likely be Sunday/Monday, therefore, before we get further clarity about the storm's severity and any potential closure or impact on the school.
The Ministry of Education will also be monitoring the impact of the storm and, depending on how the situation unfolds, they could also consider a directive for schools to close across our region. Any such directive will be based on advice from emergency management services.
We encourage you to stay informed with news and weather reports. Here are some useful links in case of emergency:
