Along with many other kindergarten associations, Dunedin Kindergartens will close all kindergartens in response to NZEIβs intention of strike action on Thursday 16th March. We recognise and respect the process of employment negotiation and regret the inconvenience this might cause for families. Weβll welcome children back to kindergarten on Friday 17th March.

We value learning through play π. Imagining, inventing, experimenting.........making roads, rivers, mountains and holes creates a fun space for monster trucks to get stuck. Bring in the diggers and spades. Working alongside others supports positive relationships π
We have 7 baby chicks visiting us at kindergarten this week. We are learning how to care for them, keeping them clean, watered and well fed. We are practicing being gentle, kind quiet and patient. π

Lookout Point Firefighters visited us today to share all their safety knowledge. Get out and stay out was the clear safety message.
The joy of Christmas.......a lot of laughter and fun this morning as we shared songs and stories with Kaitrin.
We had a big project on the go this morning. Grace's Grandad delivered 3 metres of sand to top up our sand pit. We had plenty of energetic, enthusiastic helpers so we got the job done before lunch time. Great work team. Many hands makes light work π
Thank you to all our garden helpers π Our garden plots have been getting a make over in the last few weeks. Brooke very kindly prepared our gardens and Natasha and Janice have planting flowers, fruit and vegetables with the children. We are looking forward to eating the strawberries and seeing how tall the sunflowers will grow.
Team work gets the job done π We have been reading the three little pigs this week. What would you build your house with, straw, sticks, bricks ? Our plan worked.....we built a house for everyone to share. It is fun being part of a team that co-operates. Team work makes the dream work
Today we had the absolute pleasure of meeting the St Peter Chanel Kapa Haka Group. Their performance was outstanding. We joined in with some waiata and poi. There was also some time to play, make new friends and we finished with some kai. Thank you St Peter Chanel.......call again soon. Connecting with our community π
Spring is in the air π We are enjoying the company of Mary. πat Concord Kindergarten this week. We are practicing being gentle and kind, taking turns and having fun.
Harold came to visit us today. We shared information around keeping healthy and happy. We decided healthy food, a lot of sleep and exercise all makes us feel good.
Discussing body parts like our brain, heart, lungs and intestines was really interesting....... We discussed what their purpose was in our body and how they work.
Harold invited us to dance and sing with him and best of all he made us laugh π

A moving child is a learning child.......... Active Movement is a priority area of learning here at Concord Kindergarten. We have added some Commonwealth Games challenges this week. How low can you go?
Pre literacy starts in play, recognising signs and symbols and using them with enjoyment, meaning and purpose. Follow those arrows, balance on the lines π
We value spontaneous play......allowing children to invent, experiment and use their imaginations. Working alongside others to make connections between people, places and things. Learning through play π
