A shocking new Oxford Uni study found that a whopping 47 percent (that’s nearly half!) of today’s jobs will be eliminated in the next 20 years. How crazy is that? It’s scary to admit it but the digital apocalypse is happening right now. As. We. Speak. However, I see an ASTOUNDING new opportunity here for many parents.

This may not be news to you, but when my mum told me that during her teen years using computers was a rare ‘skill’ that not everyone had, I was amazed. These days it’s weird if you DON’T know how to use a computer 😄.

However, many experts predict that the SAME thing will happen with a new, MORE important skill. Which means learning this skill now, at a young age, could put your child ahead of the curve by years!

Know what it is yet? You guessed it … it’s computer programming.

But here’s the cool thing:

- Programming is logical AND creative
- It’s a HIGH DEMAND skill, making it very lucrative and profitable
- And it’s also useful in real life (I once used programming to automate a super complicated equation I was using for a maths project)

Sounds pretty cool right? Well, I’ve decided to do something productive this summer by teaching programming classes and helping others learn this incredible skill as well, and I’d LOVE to get your thoughts or ideas on this project.

Introducing Coding Class by Krishan Luxmanan.

Amazingly educational, SUPER exciting, and coming very soon to Dunedin! But in the meantime, here’s a little info about me 😄.

Born and raised in the magical, mystical land of Dunedin, I’m a freshly graduated alumnus of John McGlashan College. I began my coding career at a young age after my dad made me read the book ‘Learn Python the Hard Way’ by Zed Shaw and, to be honest, programming was extremely bland and unenjoyable at first. However, I began to realise that there were just so many cool things you could do with coding and it wasn’t long before I couldn’t get enough of it! Fast forward a few years and I had done it all - iPhone applications, websites, video games, databases. Little by little, I increased my coding experience and expanded my knowledge of a number of programming languages, and during this time I made an important realisation.

I realised that the most fun and learning I’ve had while coding was when I was problem solving and being creative, not when I was learning programming through exercises; learning through boring exercises is one of the main reasons why many people find programming tedious and difficult to learn. So, when I was thinking of a useful way to spend the summer, my mind quickly settled on teaching programming. It was soon after this that Krishan Luxmanan Coding Class was born.
