The Dunedin Gasworks Forge is a start up in the Dunedin Gasworks Museum Fitting Shop holding community classes for new blacksmiths to preserve the craft
The blacksmithing forge will be running - Sunday September 15th. Come by for a demonstration if you are visiting the Gasworks Museum.
We will be running a Blacksmithing class at the Gasworks forge this Sunday August 4th. If you are interested in taking a course in the future or just want to see blacksmithing in action you are welcome to come by and watch. The Dunedin Gasworks Museum is open from 12 to 4 on Sundays. The forge will be running until about 3:30.

Keen to learn some beginning blacksmithing techniques alongside your child?
There are still places available for our Parents and Kids/Parents and Teens Beginners Blacksmithing classes at the Gasworks this coming Sunday 7 July. Classes run for two hours, starting at 10.30am and 1.30pm, and are suitable for ages 8-12 (Parents and Kids) and 12+ (Parents and Teens).
Cost is $100 per pair, with all materials provided. Most people will complete a project in that time and have a hand-forged item to take home.

The Blacksmithing forge will be running this evening from 5-9 during the Night market tonight at the Gasworks Museum.
We had a great time at the Otago Museum Medieval Family day. We took requests from the audience about what to make at the forge as well as working on some projects of our own.
The medieval armour display and demonstrations were a big hit with both adults and children trying on the mail shirt and steel helmet.
I will be running the blacksmithing forge again at the South Dunedin Street Fair on Saturday April 1st. Come out and have a look if you missed us at the Otago Museum.

Medieval Family Day We are going back to the Middle Ages with a day of family fun!
The first blacksmithing class of the year is this Sunday March 5th at the Gasworks Museum. Come by and have a look.
We will be running blacksmithing demonstrations at the Otago museum Medieval Festival on Sunday March 19th. We will be located in a gazebo just out front of the main Otago Museum doors.
The forge will be running next Sunday December 18th with a blacksmithing community day.. Come by and see what projects everyone is working on.

We are running a Beginner’s Blacksmithing class being this Sunday, August 21st at the Gasworks Museum. The class is fully booked but it will be running while the museum is open, so feel free and stop by and see what the students are forging while you visit the museum.
2022 Forge Classes
We held a great Beginners Blacksmithing class this past weekend. Everyone completed a firepoker or wall hook. Thanks to Rowan for his help running the class.
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at blacksmithing? We will be running a range of blacksmithing classes this year, 2022. All classes are single day and will take place at the Dunedin Gas Works Museum forge. All materials are supplied. Registration is required as there are limited slots available.
The Beginner, Parent/Kids and Parent/Teens classes are geared for beginners with little or no blacksmithing experience. A project will be fully demonstrated and basic techniques will be taught so that each student can complete their project.
The Beginner’s Plus class is for students have taken another blacksmithing class or already have some blacksmithing experience and want to work on their own project in coordination with the instructor.

Beginner’s Plus - $125
Parent/Kids; Parent/Teen - $100 for the pair
