A stellar swim from Erika Fairweather (Neptune Swim Club) this evening at the New Zealand Masters Swimming Championships, clocking 1:55.30 in the 200m Freestyle to set a new personal best time and lower her Otago Open Record (subject to ratification)๐ฅ
Unfortunately, Erika's time will not count as a NZ Open Record, as the SNZ Record policy states that NZ records cannot be set in mixed gender events.

Announcing the finalists for this yearโs Otago Community Trust Coach of the Year โ Lars Humer, Nils Coberger and Tim Cafe, and Dave Ross.
Lars was selected as a team coach for the 2023 and 2024 NZ World Championships and coaches our top athletes including the sensational Erika Fairweather. He works closely with our high-performance swimmers, as well as leading the Swim Dunedin Programme.
Nils and Tim are the dynamic duo contributing to the success of world class Alpine Ski Racer, Alice Robinson, helping Alice soar to success in the 2023 season, seeing her stand on the World Cup podium 5 times.
Dave coached the Otago Men's Hockey Team to back-to-back National Hockey Championship titles, after him and the team won it for the first time in 2022 in 114 years.

We are aware of a scam that is going around on Facebook, where Facebook profiles are impersonating legitimate businesses. Today we have received reports that this is happening to our page (see the below screenshot). We have reported the issue to Facebook, however it is up to Facebook to take down the fake profiles.

This year's Neptune King's Birthday Meet was held over the weekend, attracting more than 250 athletes from across the South Island, and beyond. It was an action packed weekend of racing, with an energetic and supportive atmosphere, which contributed to many personal best times.
Two Otago Records were set over the course of the weekend - congratulations to Erika Fairweather and Sophia Kivileva (both of Neptune) on your new records! Sophia sliced a whopping 24 seconds off of the Otago Record for the Female 11 Years & Under 1500m Freestyle. Whilst Erika lowered her own Otago Open Record in the 100m Freestyle by almost half a second.

Sophia reset the Female 11 Years Otago Record with an impressive time of 33.33, lowering the previous record of 33.58 which was set by Aleisha Ruske in 2009 ๐ฅ

Across April and May, Swimming Otago hosted both the Otago Primary School Swimming Championships and the Otago Secondary School Swimming Championships, with a total of 475 students representing their school in the pool - up 19% from last year.

Introducing the finalists for this yearโs Mercy Hospital Dunedin Junior Sportswoman of the Year - Ruby Star Andrews, Catherine Lund, and Erika Fairweather.
๐ฅ Ruby claimed her second ever World Cup podium medal in Austria, winning bronze. With an invite to the prestigious X Games, Ruby finished 4th in the Big Air.
๐ฅ Catherine competed at the World Cross Country Championships, has smashed a raft of Otago athletics records, and claimed many gold medals at National Championships.
๐ฅ Erika has broken countless national freestyle records, and won a coveted Triple Crown with World Cup gold medals in Berlin, Athens, and Budapest. She became one of only five women in history to complete the 400 meter freestyle in under 4 minutes.
