University of Otago Men’s Eight have won both the 5000m and 500m events at the Longzi Lake, Henan Regatta in China over Cambridge and Huanghe Science and Technology.
Our Senior Men’s Eight are in Zhengzhou, China to compete against a number of Chinese universities and Cambridge University, Taipei and Hong Kong Universities. They will race a 5000m and 500m sprint. 5000m starts at 2pm NZ time.

It was great to host our friends from Canterbury and Southland today for the South Island Special Olympics Indoor Rowing Competition. Lots of personal bests were achieved.

A very successful New Zealand Universities Rowing Championships has just been held at Lake Karapiro.
Otago won every eights race and placed both 1st and 3rd in the Women’s and Men’s Championship 8s.
Otago won the overall points and with that The Ashes Trophy by more than double the next university.
It is tradition for the other crews to try to steal the Hebberley Shield before midnight after it’s been presented.
