Our Navigation course is designed to boost your skills in map reading, flight planning, and more - without relying on electronic aids. It is perfect for refreshing your navigation skills, handling iPAD fails and for anyone on their PPL journey who is preparing for the PPL Navigation and Flight Planning exam.
By the end of this course, you’ll confidently plan cross-country flights, navigate in various conditions, and with additional revision sit and pass the CAANZ PPL Navigation Exam.

Congratulations to Ryan who successfully passed his PPL flight test on the 11th of November.
Ryan managed to get his PPL with cross country privileges with only 45.6hrs in Aeroplanes. The usual minimum is 50 hours however due to Ryan’s Heli PPL it is slightly reduced. Thanks Wanaka Helicopters NZ!

The course follows a logical structure and is based on the NZ CAA PPL Navigation syllabus and will leave pilots with the knowledge required to sit their PPL Navigation exam.
We will delve into navigational theory, and practical navigation techniques used in New Zealand and around the world, to plan, prepare and execute a flight across the country.
Perfect for both helicopter pilots and fixed-wing pilots. The course will run 1800-2100 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting 29th of August. We will also be running the course online for students who cannot attend in person or may be located elsewhere. $299 per person.
