Te Reo O Te Wiki 2023
Ahead of MΔori Language Week, our MΔori Language Commissioner, Professor Rawinia Higgins wrote in an open letter to Aotearoa "Te Reo is unique to us. It comes from here, it belongs here, and it should make all of us know we are home. My hope is that all New Zealanders will continue to make te reo feel like it is at home."
Similarly, as we enjoy the moments to connect with many of you in clinic, we hope that through this week you are each able to experience moments to connect to and celebrate te reo.

Arohanui,
Team Origin
When we came up with the business name Origin Manual Therapy, one of the contributing factors was the importance of our family and cultural origins and how they influenced who we are as people and therapists.
For July and August, Pawel will be making his pilgrimage home to Poland to spend 7 weeks with his beloved family and friends, and to rest and recover in the beauty of a European summer. He has been flat tack with final appointments before he flies out early next week.
The month of July will also see Florence's Ma in Aotearoa from France. To ensure they get to make the most of this valuable time, her clinic availability is limited from next week until the beginning of August. So book in where you can ππΌ
Thank you for your continued support and understanding, we appreciate you all and look forward to when we next see you in clinic.
Have a beautiful weekend everyone ππΌππ»
Meet the Hoffman brothers, Frank and RenΓ©.
Frank has been a client of Florence's for over 2 years. Originally from Germany, Frank now resides in NZ. His brother RenΓ© is currently visiting Aotearoa, and the siblings both entered the recent Wellington Marathon (held last weekend).
In an awesome twist, the brothers wore 10kg weighted vests as they ran the race. This tactic was all in support of The Capital Kiwi Project. .kiwi π€
A few weeks back they visited Rotokare to spot some Kiwis in the wild. Our native birds require protection to survive, and from this the idea was born to don the weighted vests which are used as a form of protection for many of our frontline emergency staff.
The team put together a PayPal account and the total koha of $1000 raised was donated to The Capital Kiwi Project to continue their amazing work protecting one of our precious native birds.
Congratulations gentleman on completing the race, and for contributing to such a worthy cause ππΌππ»
Whakawhetai ki a koe mo o kaha.
We love that we have clinic bases in Wellington City and in Lower Hutt.
You can now make an appointment through our online booking system to see us in Petone within the awesome gym.
Head to www.omt.co.nz for treatment with Team Origin in the Hutt ππΌππ»
After the long journey from Aotearoa to Europe with his family support crew, our guy has made it to Spain for the final leg of his 2023 World Triathlon Multisport Championships campaign. His Sprint Duathlon event will be this Saturday evening (NZT).
We are so proud of what Steve has already achieved working up to this event and we cannot wait to find out the results this weekend as he hits the course representing his country and his family.
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your bid for world domination Steve, it truly was our privilege to be able to assist your journey.
Kia kaha π³πΏ
Well at least for this week anyways ππ½
It's been a heavy workload for Team Origin's Florence this week, and not just with the full schedule of client appointments.
Her hydraulic table may have had an identity crisis thinking it was a scrum machine given the combined weight of players in clinic this week.
Then for fun why not drop in a recovery session for the visiting teaming up alongside some awesome Wellington massage therapists. Thank you to for coordinating the crew from across the ditch ππ½
Grateful to witness the player appreciation of massage therapy as part of their recovery regime.
The boys kick off at 7:05pm tonight so here's to an injury free game for both crews and may the best Hurricanes winπͺοΈ
Flo is now going to high tackle herself into rest mode for this weekend ππ π΄
No words say it better than those of our clients.
"Iβve been working with Pawel for longer than OMT has existed - he was referred to me by my previous massage therapist. Heβs an elite runner with experience of high performance sport which has been enormously valuable as Iβve moved from Ironman, through Swimrun to marathon swimming over our time together. Heβs an incredibly intelligent guy who genuinely seems keen to learn about how manipulative therapy can support all sorts of sporting endeavours. In the time weβve been together, heβs developed a deep understanding of long-distance swimmersβ needs in particular and built quite a practice working in the wider Wellington open water swimming community.
My most recent outing was a solo crossing of Cook Strait - itβs been 3 years in the pipeline and Iβve rolled through the training injury free and well conditioned, thanks in no small part to OMT - Pawel in pole and Florence backing up when he hasnβt been available".
Congratulations on a freakin awesome achievement in completing your Cook Strait crossing.
Team Origin are super proud; TayTay would be too π
Bravo ππΌππ»
Our teamie has let clients know of his unexpected trip home.
He will be returning to Aotearoa and back into clinic on April 12th ππ½
If you would like to book with Florence during his absence you are welcome to do so via www.omt.co.nz
Otherwise we will see you back in clinic on Pawel's return.

Meet Steve Green.
Steve began as a triathlete in 2015, training and racing over long distance before moving to short course duathlons.
Steve has qualified and been selected as a member of the New Zealand Age Group team to attend the 2023 World Triathlon Multisport Championship this April in Ibiza, Spain.
Not only is he a competitive athlete, he is also a fantastic personal trainer and one of our colleagues at in Petone.
When Steve approached us, there wasn't too much to consider in supporting him. He is an advocate for massage therapy as it has allowed him to "achieve maximum performance and physical conditioning, with a decreased chance of injury or pain and assists in a quick recovery".
Team Origin are proud to introduce Steve Green as our first ever sponsored athlete, and thank him for allowing us to be part of his world championship campaign.
And finally we've made it 2022, the year that laid out the path to our 5th birthday.
For both of us, 2022 was significant as it allowed us to reconnect with our immediate family members who reside overseas. Covid made the distance from our families feel painfully bigger. While the year brought family loss, it also provided us with the blessings of being able to be reunited with those we love dearly.
Our name Origin reflects a few factors that are important to us. One of those is the origin of family and culture, and their prominence in our identities and our work. Therefore to be in the physical presence of our loved ones and our hometowns was welcomed with open arms.
After 8.5 years working for the New Zealand Police, Florence joined Pawel on the full-time self-employed frontline. Team Origin were in full time effect now!
To reach 5 years in 2023 is a milestone we are proud of. We acknowledge that this achievement has not been accomplished on our own; so many of you have travelled alongside us. And to that we say thank you!
We are making plans for growth over the next 5 years, and we cannot wait to continue this journey with all of you ππ½ππ»
Hello 2021! We moved into our 4th Team Origin year and we were no longer students.
We had space to network with other health practitioners, have availability to work with sports teams again, and experience a different presence in clinic and in life.
Covid still had an impact on how we operated as a small business. We continued navigating the terrain as best we could while donning our super-therapist masks (capes are overrated).
Florence started working alongside Rach Thwaite (owner of True Calm) and the crew at our Cambridge Tce location in the city.
Pawel had established an excellent reputation and client base over a couple of years at in Petone, and during 2021 Florence was available to also join the team.
This move allowed Team Origin to be able to offer Lower Hutt and city locations to our clients.
We concluded the year with no assignments to hand in or presentations to prepare; it was study free bliss.
That was us for Year 4, we were ready for more ππ½ππ»
Our 3rd year was 2020, a year where everything changed.
We were about to start our final year of study while we continued growing our practice. Then Covid hit.
Life with lockdowns, masks, gloves, virtual classes, and closed businesses began. It was hard to navigate such unknown territory, and all we could do was make the choices we believed were best for ourselves, our families, our clients and our business; and hope like crazy that they were the right decisions.
While we managed what was going on here in Aotearoa, we were also facing the reality of being separated from our families in Europe, USA and other NZ cities. THAT was a challenge.
Somehow though, it all slowly started to pan out. We rounded out the year with Origin still open, our Bachelor of Health Studies in our hands, and our health and sanity somewhat intact.
Year 3 complete and we were thankful to see the back of it π€πΌπ€π»
And then we welcomed 2019, our second year in business.
Life began to ramp up as we returned to the Wellington campus of The New Zealand College of Massage to begin two years of part-time study to complete our Bachelor of Health Studies - Neuromuscular Therapy.
We were gaining exposure at various sporting events and building professional connections with fantastic massage therapists. We worked to enjoy all of our massage moments, but the load was constant for both of us as we were studying and working 2 jobs, with one of those being the career we were developing daily as Origin Manual Therapy.
Demand grew and in a step to try and meet that increasing trend with increased availability, Florence moved to a 2nd location on Cambridge Terrace, Te Aro.
And for this second year as a team, Pawel became a New Zealand citizen, and Aotearoa adopted the Pole.
Safe to say that 2019 was going to be the last year of "normal" that we would have for a wee while.
We made it through Year 2, phew! βπ½βπ»
A nostalgic count-up to our 5 years as Team Origin.
2018 was a study gap year following the completion of a national certificate and two diplomas. We managed a short stint in the study zone with some dry needling training.
We grabbed the opportunity to travel to Europe not only to work in the UK, but to spend time with each of our families in France and Poland during a scorcher of a European summer.
Our time spent in camp with Ireland Touch Rugby for their European Touch Rugby Championships campaign was hard work and valuable learning for us.
We made the most of it.
We were able to return to NZ after our overseas jaunt energised to start building our business and our brand.
And we can't mention this start and not acknowledge who we became wellness and relaxation partners with. It's a privilege to be aligned with your team, and to have been influenced by your example over the years.
Year 1 done βπΌβπ»
You read that right people, we're 5!
We are grateful and possibly a little gobsmacked in acknowledging the fact that on this day 5 years ago we became Origin Manual Therapy.
We've always kept things simple, and that doesn't change as we celebrate this milestone for our small business.
As today starts we recognise how wonderful it is that we have had 5 years of being able to enjoy our journey with so many of you.
Having each of you continue on this path with us, allowing us to do what we love and hopefully help make a positive impact in your own journey is the best gift we could ask for.
Happy 5th Birthday to us, we're in small business primary school now ππΌππ»
Florence & Pawel - Team Origin π―
As we effleurage our way into February, we are announcing our upcoming price changes which will come into effect for all bookings from the 1st April 2023.
Rather than post a long winded message trying to sugarcoat this decision, we made this call for the following reasons:
1. Our last price change was at the beginning of 2020.
2. Costs have increased.
3. We value our skills and the service we provide.
4. We are planning for growth so that we can provide more to help our clients.
Our new pricing schedule will be:
30 minutes $80
60 minutes $120
90 minutes $150
We thank all of our clients for your continued support ππΌππ»
Hello 2023!
Rested and back into the swing of clinic life. Florence and Pawel both returned to clinic at the beginning of January after a breather during the festive season.
We've welcomed new and returning clients in our first month of the new year, so our minds and bodies have found that groove and soaking up the learning.
We hope that the start of 2023 was the strong start that you needed, and if we can be a part of helping you to continue the way you began, you know where to find us.

We never take for granted how fortunate we are to have so many people trust in us, our abilities and our business.
Thank you to you all for reassuring us daily as to why we do what we love and love what we do.
We wish all of our clients, collaborators, colleagues and cheering squad a wonderful Merry Christmas and the rest needed to welcome in 2023 with pain-free and mobile open arms ππΌππ»

Team Origin believe that massage could be a great way to help others to reconnect. And maybe for some of you we are already a place that lifts you up; we certainly hope so.
So for Mental Health Awareness Week 2022 we're giving away two 60 minute massages; one with Flo and one with Pawel.
All you need to do is tag (or name them if they're not on social media) someone in the comments who you think deserves/needs and would benefit from a massage to help them reconnect. Also let us know why you're nominating them, because even those words alone would inevitably be an encouragement and will lift that person up ππΌππ»
Nominations close on Sunday 2nd October at 12pm.
On Sunday evening we will draw a name for each of the massages and post the results and be in touch with the winners or the person who nominated them.
The massages will be available for use until the 1st December 2022.
So get nominating, because we can't wait to pick the winners π€
Team Origin has a big couple of weeks ahead with clinic and joining the massage crews that will be looking after some of our national teams.
It's great to have the opportunities to work with these athletes, even if most of us get tired just thinking about the workload; MTs everywhere nod in agreement! π€£
The hard work aside, the biggest positive with these sessions, is seeing that professional sporting bodies (in all aspects of the word 'bodies') recognise the benefits of massage therapy ππΌππ»
Our profession matters, for many reasons.
Hold up! It's June already?
Why is 2022 in such a hurry?
June has not only come around quickly, but it signals some shifts for Team Origin.
Pawel is going to be heading back to Poland on June 20th for a well overdue and much welcome 6 week catch-up with his family and friends at home.
Secure an available appointment before he closes up, or wait patiently until he returns π
Florence is now full-time in clinic following her resignation as an Emergency Communicator for the NZ Police, after 8.5 years within the organisation. She's looking forward to focusing on her therapeutic career and being more readily available for Origin's future plans π€
Stay dry.
Stay warm.
Stay safe everyone.
Team Origin x
From today vaccine passes no longer need to be sighted prior to treatment at Origin Manual Therapy.
QR scanning obligations had previously ceased on March 25th.
We will continue to follow thorough hygiene and safety protocols, as we are all aware that Covid is still present in the community.
Please continue to wear a mask into the respective clinic location that you are booked at, and we will discuss removal once you are in the clinic room.
Stay home and cancel or reschedule your appointment if you have any symptoms or feel unwell.
Be mindful of your arrival time, and please do not show up too early. The allotted time in between sessions allows your therapist to complete a cleaning changeover between treatments and an opportunity for a breather.
If you have any questions prior to your appointment, do not hesitate to touch base.
Stay well and stay safe.
