We want your feedback on options including whether to increase the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL), by how much, and how the money is reinvested.

Since 2019 most international visitors have paid a $35 levy which has helped fund important conservation and tourism initiatives like kākāpō recovery, tourism data and insights, and the Milford Opportunities Project.

The levy means visitors contribute towards the costs associated with providing and maintaining these high-quality visitor experiences.

The feedback we receive will help shape the strategy for future IVL investment and funding.

A number of names for cheese, alcohol and other goods can no longer be used for products in New Zealand unless the products are made in specific locations in Europe and are produced following specific rules.

Terms such as Ouzo, Sherry, Port, Prosecco, Feta, Gruyère and Prosciutto di Parma are all now protected as geographical indications, under the New Zealand – European Union Free Trade Agreement. Restrictions on who can use these terms in trade now apply. Notably, some terms have phase-out periods for their continued use by New Zealand businesses.
