โœ๏ธCommunity Effort Prepares School for Smooth Opening

*Sunday, July 28, 2024*

A dedicated effort to ensure a safe and smooth opening for the upcoming school year, a team led by Kapitan Dexter Fag-ayan and Kagawad Norman Sy, along with school head Marie Sillatoc and several teachers, worked tirelessly on Sunday to install mosquito nets and remove a rotten tree near the school grounds.

Despite it being a day of rest, the community members gathered early in the morning to tackle the pressing tasks. The installation of mosquito nets in the classrooms was a crucial step in protecting the students from mosquito-borne diseases, ensuring a healthier learning environment.

Additionally, the removal of a dangerously rotten tree near the school ground was carried out to eliminate potential hazards. The tree, which had become unstable and posed a risk to the students, was safely taken down by the team.

"Our priority is the safety and well-being of our students," said school head Marie Sillatoc. "We want to make sure that everything is in place for a smooth and safe school opening tomorrow."

The dedication shown by Kap Dexter Fag-ayan, Kag Norman Sy, and the entire school staff reflects the community's commitment to providing a safe and conducive learning environment for the children. Their efforts are a testament to the spirit of cooperation and responsibility that is essential for the success of the school.

As the school opens its doors to students tomorrow, parents and guardians can rest assured that their children will be learning in a safer, well-prepared environment.

โœ๏ธKagawad and Tanod Heroes: Restoring Safety at Pinsao Elementary School

**Pinsao Pilot Barangay, July 26, 2024** โ€“ In a remarkable act of community service, Kagawad Jefferson Sinadcop a.k.a Bebot and tanods, Warly Wa-ay, Lorenzo Mangusan and Benjamin Wacnag together with the volunteer parent of Pinsao Pilot Barangay united to address a pressing issue at Pinsao Elementary School. The recent heavy rains had caused a significant erosion of the riprap in front of the kindergarten and Grade 1 classrooms, posing a danger to the young learners.

Upon learning about the situation, the Kagawad and tanod swiftly mobilized, dedicating their time and effort to clear the debris and reinforce the riprap. Their teamwork and dedication ensured the safety of the schoolchildren and restored peace of mind to parents and teachers alike.

Mam Freda Dayog, Master Teacher in Kindergarten, expressed her gratitude, saying, "The swift response and hard work of our Kagawad and tanods have made a significant difference. Our learners can now return to school safely, thanks to their efforts."

This act of service highlights the spirit of bayanihan that thrives in Pinsao Pilot Barangay, demonstrating the power of community solidarity in times of need.

โœ๏ธ Successful Implementation of 2nd Year Cervical Cancer Screening and Family Planning Initiative in Pinsao Elementary School

**Baguio City, Pinsao Pilot Project July 13, 2024** โ€” The 2nd year of the cervical cancer screening initiative using Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) alongside family planning services through the insertion and removal of subdermal implants has been successfully implemented, thanks to the dedicated efforts of healthcare professionals and community leaders.

Nurse Sally Rose Balongangey from Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) played a pivotal role in conducting VIA screenings, ensuring early detection of cervical abnormalities. "Our goal is to reach as many women as possible and provide them with accessible and effective screening methods," Nurse Balongangey remarked.

Supporting the initiative, Marianne Espejo, representing the Pinsao Health District, facilitated logistical support and coordination, ensuring smooth operations throughout the screening campaign. "Community health is paramount, and initiatives like these empower women to take charge of their health," Espejo emphasized.

Rey Sagandoy, a representative from the Department of Health (DOH) in Apayao, delivered insightful lectures on the importance of cervical cancer screening and family planning. Sagandoy also conducted assessments and provided valuable feedback to clients, further enhancing the impact of the program.

Assisting patients with registration was Mam Frances, whose organizational skills streamlined the intake process, ensuring efficient service delivery. "Effective administration is key to making sure every woman receives the care she deserves," Mam Frances affirmed.

Alma Ramos, a Barangay Health Worker (BHW), supported Nurse Balongangey during VIA screenings, demonstrating the community-wide collaboration that underpins the success of such health campaigns.

The initiative was spearheaded by Mam Mennie S. Challoy, whose vision and commitment to women's health drove the implementation of this vital program. "We are grateful for the community's support and the dedication of our healthcare providers who make initiatives like these possible," Mam Challoy expressed.

The successful implementation of the 2nd year of cervical cancer screening and family planning services underscores Baguio City's commitment to proactive healthcare initiatives that prioritize women's health and well-being. With continued support and participation from the community, these efforts are set to make a lasting impact in promoting health equity and access to essential services.
