WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!
1. If you are commuting, PLEASE ANTICIPATE HEAVY TRAFFIC TOMORROW MORNING (JULY 29).
2. MAKE AN EXTRA EFFORT to start waiting for a ride much earlier. Being early at school will give you more time and opportunity to locate your classroom, especially when you are a new student, unfamiliar with our school layout.
3. BRING YOUR UMBRELLA. Please don’t run in the rain. It would not be good to be absent on the first week, being sick.
4. COME TO SCHOOL PREPARED, with your paper, notebook, and pen.
5. DRESS APPROPRIATELY. (NO ripped/tattered jeans, crop top, mini skirts, or slippers)

MAY YOU HAVE A REMARKABLE FIRST WEEK AT OUR SCHOOL!

GVians Triumph in SHS Press Conference

Guisad Valley National High School once again displayed their remarkable knack in Journalistic writing as they emerged OVERALL FIRST RUNNER UP at the 2024 Senior High School Press Conference (SHSPC) hosted by the UC Communication Society and UC Communication Department at the University of the Cordilleras on April 13.

Events conducted were news writing, editorial writing, feature writing and radio broadcasting. Seasoned journalists Thomas PicaΗΉa, Editor and Chief and Owner of the weekly newspaper, Amianan Balita Ngayon, Roderick Osis, Publisher/Editor of North Luzon Monitor and Sports Columnist of Baguio Chronicle and Maria Elena Catajan Journalist Secretary-General of the Local Chapter of the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines were invited as our guest facilitators. Meanwhile, Hillary Johnson and David Riley both radio hosts of 96.7 K-lite served as guest judges and facilitators for the radio broadcasting.

Despite not having an entry for the group event, radio broadcasting, the combined winnings of 3 First places, 2 Second places and 4 Third places landed them the second spot bringing home a certificate of recognition and a plaque.

Districts 3, 8, and 10 teachers, together with their respective PSDS, warmly welcomed madam ASDS Carmel Meris to SDO Baguio City with a heartwarming song at Baguio City National High School during the last day of InSeT.

In madam Carmel's speech, she emphasized the virtue of nurturing a culture of gratitude and diplomacy. She encouraged teachers to be continuously thankful for the blessings they receive. Moreover, she underscored the culture of diplomacy by citing situations in which teachers and school leaders could demonstrate this virtue.

In response to the ASDS message, PSDS of District 8 madam Brendalee Awingan synthesized the insights shared by madam Meris and asked the teachers to reflect on these virtues of honesty, humility, respect, courtesy, and gratitude.

Sir Whitney Dawayen, school head of Baguio City National High School, also reiterated that teachers should discuss any concerns about school leadership so that school leaders can also be aware of what they should address and improve as leaders.

The welcome program ended with the singing of the song Lean on Me, a gentle message of what awaits as schools resume classes tomorrow.

Welcome to SDO Baguio City, madam ASDS Carmel F. Meris! - Greetings from GVNHS Family
