Did you know that in the Philippines, more than half of children aged 3 to 4 years old didn’t attend preschool? This finding comes from a recent report published by the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II). However, the lifetime benefits of early education are well-proven.

In its global 2019 report, UNICEF highlighted these benefits, showing that children who attended just one year of early education programs were "seven times more likely" to master fundamental reading skills by the end of elementary school and "four times more likely" to achieve the same in mathematics.

These key data highlight the importance of AELF's mission: our teachers guide each child to achieve their full potential while passionately supporting parents in every coaching session. Enrollment for our next batch, beginning in the first week of July, is now open!

Ermita, Pasil, Suba, and now… Duljo Fatima!

Last month, a new AELF learning center opened its doors at Duljo Fatima barangay hall. 43 families attended the orientation on April 3, and coaching sessions started the following day.

Thank you to all the families for their trust and to the barangay representatives for their support. This achievement marks a meaningful milestone for the foundation, reflecting our commitment to providing quality early education access to more preschool children in Cebu City!

On March 21, AELF's special event, the Math Olympics, brought together children who showed the most progress over the past six months.

During the event, 33 children from Ermita, Pasil and Suba joined math and logic games with the support of their parents.

Three events were recently held in Suba, Pasil and Ermita to challenge children on their math skills with games showcasing the ChildUp cards.

Those MATHnimals Quizzes took place with a very special spectator in the audience, John Debonneville, ChildUp Early Education co-founder.

Let's celebrate the milestone achieved by our partner International Care Ministries (ICM) through their educational programs across the Philippines.

Since 2017, ICM volunteers have trained over 16,000 families in more than 900 communities by implementing the same parent-child coaching methodology as AELF. ChildUp Early Education cards are a core tool in ICM's holistic approach to providing quality education to underprivileged children.

On August 9, delegates from the Asia-Pacific Regional Network for Early Childhood (ARNEC) visited the AELF center in Suba.

We were honoured and grateful to share with early education representatives from Bhutan, India, Myanmar and the Philippines how AELF teachers coach families using the ChildUp Early Education methodology.

To celebrate Nutrition Month, a capacity building was organized on July 27 with a registered nutritionist-dietitian to introduce to the parents the basics of nutrition and discuss how to make healthy meals with affordable food.

Last week in Manila, AELF had the opportunity to visit AHA Learning Center in Tondo and Cubao.

Seeing how AHA! collaborates with other organizations to empower local communities through different programs (education, livelihood, nutrition, health) was inspiring—a much-needed hand-in-hand work to serve the most underprivileged with a holistic approach.

Kudos to the AHA team and volunteers!

Last June 2, the AELF team organized a community cleanup in Ermita, Pasil, and Suba. Teachers and families joined forces and worked together to collect hundreds of plastic bottles, food packaging, and much more.

At our scale, we can all drive a positive impact and take care of our community for the better.

As a member of the Cebu City Nutrition Network (CCNN), the Arcanys Early Learning Foundation is not only an advocate of early education, but we also believe that proper nutrition and hygiene are a foundation for children’s growth. Thanks to the initiative “A Chance to Grow”, all our beneficiaries received a free hygiene kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.) last April 4 and 5.

Mid-April, 2 teachers from AHA Learning Center spent 3 days in our centers to learn more about the ChildUp Early Education methodology and how to use the ChildUp cards.

We are very grateful for the opportunity to share our experience. We hope this training will be helpful for AHA! team whose mission is to reduce education inequity through their community programs in the Philippines 🙌

As part of fire prevention month, firefighters from San Nicolas BFP station conducted an outreach activity with AELF families in Pasil Sports Complex on March 24. Parents and children learnt how to react if a fire breaks and how to use a fire extinguisher.

Fire safety is everyone’s concern to prevent fires from destroying houses and taking people’s lives, especially in the densely populated community where most houses are made of light materials.

Last February 15, representatives from Glory Reborn conducted a workshop among parents to raise awareness on how to prevent HIV transmission, reduce HIV stigma and encourage testing. Parents learned more about this virus and were offered free HIV screening.

Storybooks, clothes, and toys were distributed to the children currently enrolled in the AELF program last February 14 during our Happy Hearts Day activity, thanks to donations from generous supporters, including Arcanys employees.

What a great way to celebrate the month of love... the love of giving and receiving!

On February 10, the second SUMUP tournament was organized in Ermita with 15 participants who challenged their addition skills round after round.

When playing SUMUP to 10 or SUMUP to 20, the winner is the first player who gets precisely 10 or 20 by adding up their ChildUp Early Education cards.
