USG First 30 Days Recap! 📢

Each day counts in service.

In the past month, the USG has been proactive in addressing key student issues and enhancing campus life. We launched a survey and resolution addressing the removal of Self-Care Week, developed the First Semester APPS-GO plan, and led relief operations for the Cavite City fire incident. We also initiated the consultation meetings with the Performing Arts Group to understand areas where support is needed, conducted oath-taking ceremonies for new CSG and Program Council officers, and kicked-off the preparations for the provision of Financial Aid Grant for our students. The USG also enacted its very first Executive Order for the term, establishing the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Investigation Committee for TOFI.

On top of all that, the USG co-organized the week-long PANIMOLA: Freshmen Orientation Week 2024.

Our ongoing commitment includes the S.O.G.I.E. Enrollment Initiative survey, which is still open for feedback from the students.

Stay updated with our initiatives through the USG Official Gazette, our social media platforms, and continue to engage with us as we work towards a better campus life! 🍃

Here's to making progress happen, one at a time!

Defending Democracy: National Press Freedom Day ✍️

Today, on National Press Freedom Day, we acknowledge the crucial role a free press plays in safeguarding democracy and human rights. According to official UNESCO figures, 117 journalists were killed in the country in the last 30 years, of which 81 cases remain unsolved.

Journalists and even individuals who are human rights defenders, social justice advocates, and other critics of state policies has been unfairly tagged as supports, recruiters, or members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA), increasing the risk in human rights.

Following the urge of UNHR experts and advocates, we also highly urge authorities to publicly denounce red-tagging practices and hold officials accountable for any violations.
