DAILY REFLECTION | September 10, 2024

And he came down with them and stood on a stretch of level ground. A great crowd of his disciples and a large number of the people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; and even those who were tormented by unclean spirits were cured. Everyone in the crowd sought to touch him because power came forth from him and healed them all. Luke 6:17–19

WHO IS MANASSEH IN THE BIBLE?

Manasseh is the firstborn son of Joseph and Asenath.
His name means "causing to forget" because Jospeh felt that God had made him forget the hardships he endured in his early life.

Manasseh, along with his younger brother Ephraim, was adopted by Jacob as his own sons, thus receiving an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.

In Genesis 48, when Jacob is near death, he blesses Joseph's sons, Manasseh and Ephraim. In this way, they each became head of a tribe of Israel. Together they replace their father's position (there is no tribe of Joseph).

The descendants of Manasseh form the Tribe of Manasseh, which is known for it's warriors and leaders throughout the history of Israel. Notable figures from the tribe include Gideon & Jephthah.

The tribe is unique in that it is divided into two portions: one half settled on the eastern side of the Jordan River, while the other half settled in the western part of Canaan.
