We were shocked and saddened upon hearing the news about Teacher German Moncal's sudden passing, and it has been 9 days since.

Although he came into our lives only 14 months ago, he has created a positive impact, in the history of JBPAF.

His brilliant choreographic piece, and coaching, won JBPAF the gold and trophy, as the best performance in the International Senior's Division, Jazz Category, for the Hong Kong Challenge Cup Dance Competition in 2019.

It was his first time to join an international competition, and so too for Joseph Borromeo, Waya Fulgueras, and Andi Flores. It goes without saying, that of all of his students in JBPAF, the 3 have valued his mentorship, and friendship the most.

It is ironic that his winning piece was entitled "I See the Light", where the depiction in his choreography was the peeling off of the troubled self, and seeking redemption in the light.. in God.

Although we were looking forward to more brilliant choreographic works from German, God had another plan for him, and called him home to continue his masterpieces in Streets of Gold!

It’s not luck, it’s God’s favor. From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another. John 1:16 👆🥰❤️ • I have so much to be grateful for this early into the year! First, I received a scholarship to attend the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive @bolshoiballetacademysi (which I’m attending in June). Then I was accepted into Melbourne Academy of the Arts @dancemaarts for 2020! Then after auditioning, I was accepted into Houston Ballet Academy’s Summer Intensive @houstonballet too! All of these blessings just keep adding up! Thank you Lord for all the doors You have opened and all the opportunities You have given me. None of this would have happened without You. Matthew began his dance training with us, as a scholar at age 14, where he trained in ballet, jazz, tap, hiphop, ballroom, and flamenco under Maricar Aragon Andrada, Anamarie Aragon Quirino, Gigi Aragon, and Julie Borromeo.

He then joined Philippine Ballet Theatre and trained further under Anatoly Panasyukov, and Artistic Director, Ron Jaynario, and became its company artist in 2012.

From then on, he has performed lead roles for countless PBT productions, as a company artist, has performed as guest artist with professional dance companies abroad, as well as placed in many dance competitions here and overseas!

We are so proud of you, and pay tribute to you on your special day!
