๐ปโจWe've officially started our Day 3๏ธโฃ!โจ
Mr. Kevin Tansiongco, Readers' Services Librarian, gave a very smooth opening to what will transpire in our two-part learning session.
Mr. Kelvin Samson, Chairperson of , formally welcomed the speakers and participants, which was immediately followed by the introduction of our first resource speaker, Dr. Johan Jang of Elsevier Asia Pacific.
Dr. Jang emphasized the need to use AI in academic writing with utmost caution because of the increasing number of inauthentic sources, inaccurate data, and ethical, security, and privacy concerns, to name a few.
He further mentioned that we cannot ask AI to write our work for us; we can only use it to improve its readability. More importantly, It cannot replace the production of scientific work, pedagogic, or medical insights.

The Philippines ranks in the bottom 10% of listed countries based on the Global Innovation Index 2021.
This is, according to Dr. Raymond Tan of De La Salle University, a wake-up call for colleges and universities in the Philippines to turn the statistics into something more respectable in the futureโ that is to generate more research output which is part and parcel of being a knowledge economy.
Understand more about how research can impact the many facets of our daily lives and learn how DLSU contributes to the United Nationsโ Sustainable Development Goals.

Prof. Nick De Ocampo believes in promoting a materialist approach toward the understanding of cinema ๐ฅ๐๏ธ:
โI affirm and advance a definition of cinema that is commonly obvious but many people still refuse to be cognizant ofโthat cinema is materially composed of signs. Instead of realizing this, many ignore or remain ignorant of this and continue to believe that cinema is all about story, which makes cinema to be experienced in literary rather than cinematic ways.โ

โHistorical revisionism is by itself good because you change or correct historical facts following meticulous scholarly research. It breaks the traditional story of history and provides new facts.โ
How do we fight historical distortion?
(1) We simply have to show the truth.
(2) Learn our history. As long as we are ignorant of our history, others will write it for us.
(3) View history in its context and not just a list of facts.
(4) Understand that history is not about emotions. History is about the Plain Truthโ a Truth with all its blemishes.

IamInfoSMART: Making Every Lasallian Information Literate
In response to PAASCU recommendation on โcreative awareness about the availability of the user education program to other research-oriented classes,โ the DLSU Libraries launched its Information Literacy Campaign, dubbed as IamInfoSMART: Making Every Lasallian Information Literate in November 2013 to foster the development of information literate students in pursuit of lifelong learning.
The information literate DLSU student must have the ability to:
โ(1) recognize the need for information and determine the nature and extent of the information needed; (2) find needed information effectively and efficiently; (3) critically evaluate information and the information seeking process; manage information collected or generated; (4) apply prior and new information to construct new concepts or create new understandings; and, (5) use information with understanding and acknowledge cultural, ethical, economic, legal, and social issues surrounding the use of informationโ (ARCL, 2000).
