πŸŽ‰ Five years of faith, fellowship, and as a family! πŸŽ‰

The JNYO family celebrated its 5th Anniversary with a thrilling team-building adventure last July 6th, 2024! We were reminded that "Truly blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord" (Psalm 33:12), and we're so grateful to continue growing in faith and service together.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Jesus invites us to let Him lighten our burdens, relieve our worries, stress, and concerns. It's an invitation of love and mercy we should always accept. What burdens you? Whatever troubles your heart, Jesus wants to lift it.

We often carry heavy burdens, hesitant to come to Jesus, fearing to face our troubles with honesty. But Jesus is gentle, merciful, and generous in forgiveness. He longs to lift our burdens and eliminate oppression.

Reflect on Jesus' invitation: β€œCome to me.” Come without fear or hesitation. Turn everything over to Him. He loves you deeply and will set you on the right path.

𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫
My inviting Lord, I do come to You and I do lay down my life and every burden before You. I give You my life, my hopes, my fears, my past, my future and everything that worries me. Jesus, I give You everything. Jesus, I trust in You. π€π¦πžπ§.

Then he began to upbraid the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent.

"Woe to you, Chora'zin! woe to you, Beth-sa'ida! for if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

But I tell you, it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you.

And you, Caper'na-um, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in S***m, it would have remained until this day.

But I tell you that it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of S***m than for you."

𝑹𝑬𝑭𝑳𝑬π‘ͺ𝑻𝑰𝑢𝑡
Jesus rebukes Chorazin and Bethsaida out of love, desiring their repentance. Despite witnessing His miracles, they remain unrepentant, prompting Jesus to chastise them for their own good. This act, though seemingly harsh, is a form of mercy aimed at encouraging change.

This principle applies to us too. Sometimes, gentle invitations to grace suffice for overcoming sin. Other times, especially when sin is deep-rooted, we need a holy rebuke. This tough love, mirroring Jesus' actions, can be crucial for our spiritual growth and is also a guide for correcting others.

Reflect on whether you need Jesus' rebuke and how you correct others. Embrace tough love, both receiving and giving it, as an act of divine love that can lead to deeper love for God.

𝑷𝑹𝑨𝒀𝑬𝑹
My passionate Lord, help me to repent daily of my sin. Help me to be an instrument of the repentance of others. May I always receive Your words in love and offer them in the form of love that is most effective. Jesus, I trust in You. π€πŒπ„π

And he called to him the twelve, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits.

He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff; no bread, no bag, no money in their belts;

but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics.

And he said to them, "Where you enter a house, stay there until you leave the place.

And if any place will not receive you and they refuse to hear you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet for a testimony against them."

So they went out and preached that men should repent.

And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them.

Does God care about every detail of your life, including your needs for food, housing, and emotional, material, and spiritual support? Absolutely! It's easy to get caught up in daily worries, fearing we won't have enough for today or tomorrow. This anxiety can extend to all aspects of lifeβ€”relationships, emotions, material needs, and spiritual well-being.

God is fully attentive to every aspect of our lives, loving us so completely that He will never leave us lacking what we need for a fulfilling life. It's natural to sometimes feel overwhelmed, thinking we must handle everything on our own. While we are called to use our talents for God's work, we must remember that God is the one truly looking after us, meeting our every need.

Consider how much you trust in God's providence. Pray, "Jesus, I trust in You," and reflect on how deeply you can embrace this trust.

πŸ“Œππ‘π€π˜π„π‘:
Father,
I abandon myself into your hands;
do with me what you will.
Whatever you may do, I thank you:
I am ready for all, I accept all.

Let only your will be done in me,
and in all your creatures –a
I wish no more than this, O Lord.

Into your hands I commend my soul:
I offer it to you with all the love of my heart,
for I love you, Lord, and so need to give myself,
to surrender myself into your hands without reserve,
and with boundless confidence,
for you are my Father. AMEN

In today's Gospel Jesus sent the Twelve with instructions to go by twos. It will not be a simple mission to preach the Good News but also to cast out demons. Jesus gave them the authority to fulfill that mission. To further make them be focused on their mission, He told them to not burden themselves with many baggages and exhibit urgency by not dwelling on those who were not open and willing to accept the Good News of salvation and repentance. It is interesting that the first act of the commissioned apostles were drive out unclean spirits! It reflects the reality of their existence and the necessity to deal with them accordingly.

β€œTake nothing for the journey except a staffβ€”no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.” They went out and preached that people should repent. They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.

To summarize (from:JNYO)

In Mark 6:7-13, the main point is captured in the following key points:

⭐ Commissioning and Authority: Jesus sent out the Twelve with specific instructions and authority to carry out their mission. This reflects the idea of being sent and given authority to fulfill a specific purpose or mission.

⭐ Preaching and Casting Out Demons: The Twelve were tasked with preaching the Good News and casting out demons. This highlights the importance of spreading the message of salvation and addressing spiritual warfare against evil forces.

⭐ Urgency and Focus: Jesus instructed them not to carry extra baggage, emphasizing the urgency and focus required in their mission. This relates to the idea of not being weighed down by unnecessary distractions and being committed to the task at hand.

⭐ Dealing with Evil: The act of driving out unclean spirits as the first pastoral act of the apostles underscores the reality of dealing with evil forces and the necessity to confront them with authority and faith.

These highlights the mission, authority, spiritual battle, and the victory over evil through faith in Jesus.

So ,

Let go of the burdens that weigh you down, for in the mission entrusted to you lies the power to overcome. Embrace the authority given to you, preach the Good News, and cast out the demons that cloud your path. Focus on the urgency of the call, shake off the dust of distractions, and stand firm in the battle against evil.

-Remember, in the victory of faith, God's light shines brightest in the darkest of times. -β€οΈπŸ’›

Part 9.

The team-building activities were a blast! We laughed, we cheered, and we worked together to achieve our goals. The camaraderie and unity we experienced were truly inspiring. It was a reminder that when we come together as one, we can accomplish anything!

As the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up."

-Worship-

The worship segment of our team building was a sacred space, a sanctuary where hearts were poured out in silent prayer and tears of joy and gratitude flowed freely. It was a moment where we connected with the divine, our voices blending with the melodies, carrying our deepest desires and unspoken words to the throne of grace.

In that intimate communion with God, we found solace and strength. The songs we sang were not just melodies, they were bridges that carried us closer to His presence. We felt His love enveloping us, His peace calming our souls, and His Spirit igniting a fire within us.

As the Bible says in Psalm 100:4, "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name." In that moment, we were truly entering His gates, our hearts overflowing with gratitude, and our spirits soaring in praise.

It was a reminder that even in the midst of our busy lives, we can always find a moment to connect with our Heavenly Father, to pour out our hearts to Him, and to experience the transformative power of His love.

In Luke 9:23-24, Jesus speaks to his disciples about the essence of true discipleship. Let's delve deeper into the profound meaning behind these verses to inspire and motivate:

1. Self-Denial: Jesus calls for self-denial, which involves renouncing our own desires, ambitions, and selfish pursuits. This act of humility requires surrendering our will to God's purpose, prioritizing the kingdom of God above personal aspirations. Self-denial is acknowledging that God's will supersedes our own, reflecting a deep commitment to following Christ wholeheartedly.

2. Taking Up the Cross: Taking up the cross daily signifies embracing a life of sacrifice, endurance, and perseverance. Just as the cross symbolizes suffering, shame, and death, followers of Christ are called to endure hardships and challenges for the sake of the gospel. This imagery underscores the reality that true discipleship involves embracing difficulties with unwavering faith and commitment.

3. Wholehearted Following: Jesus emphasizes the need for wholehearted commitment to Him and His mission. This involves imitating His character, obeying His teachings, and prioritizing a relationship with Him above all else. Wholehearted following means making Christ the focal point of our lives, walking in His footsteps, and centering our existence around Him.

4. Cost of Discipleship: Jesus highlights the cost of discipleship by stating that saving one's life leads to losing it, while losing one's life for His sake results in saving it. This challenges us to evaluate our priorities, reminding us that true life and fulfillment come from sacrificing worldly desires for the sake of Christ.

In essence, these verses invite us to reflect on the radical demands of discipleship, emphasizing self-sacrifice, unwavering commitment, and prioritizing Christ above all else. They inspire us to embrace the call to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow Jesus wholeheartedly, trusting in the promise that true life is found in losing it for the sake of the gospel. Embracing these principles leads to a profound sense of purpose, fulfillment, and spiritual growth in our journey as followers of Christ.

"Many are called, but few are chosen." Matthew 22:14.

The Jesus Nazareno Youth Organization (JNYO) is truly blessed to have welcomed a new generation of passionate young people at our recent Orientation! Held on June 30th at the Jesus Nazareno Chapel, the event brought together aspiring members from Donhai, Dologon, and Maramag, Bukidnon. Our dedicated coordinators, Ma'am Cel, Kuya Neil, and Kuya Mark, shared insights into JNYO's history, mission, vision, core values, and the importance of prayer.

We were also inspired by the heartfelt testimonies of past presidents, who shared their experiences, challenges, and the profound impact joining the Organization has had on their lives. Despite some members being unable to attend, the Orientation was a resounding success, filled with energy and excitement.

We are thrilled to welcome these new faces into our JNYO family πŸ’› and can't wait to see them shine at our upcoming TEAM BUILDING on July 6th! ✨

PROPER DRESS CODE ATTIRE FOR MASS

Modern culture has done a lot to erode away many of our traditions as well as decency and reverence. Although the Catholic Church has no real dress code for proper attire when attending Mass, there is an unwritten dress code that demands we are properly dressed out of Respect, Honor, and Reverence for the Real Presence of Our Lord.

There are TWO main reasons one should dress modestly and decently for Mass:
1. Out of respect for God.
2. In Order not to be a distraction or stumbling block to our fellow parishioners.

It is also a wonderful way to teach our children respect, honor and reverence.
Here is what the Catechism of the Catholic Church has to say about dressing properly for Mass:
β€œTo prepare for worthy reception of this sacrament, the faithful should observe the fast required in their Church. Bodily demeanor (gestures, clothing) ought to convey the respect, solemnity, and joy of this moment when Christ becomes our guest.” – CCC 1387

Generally, we should be guided by a combination of virtue, common sense, and piety when deciding what to wear to Mass.
Ministers including cantors, instrumentalists, choristers, lectors, extraordinary ministers and hospitality should be particularly mindful of how they dress for Mass. They should be examples for our Parish. It is highly disrespectful to administer Holy Communion to the faithful while dressed in something like shorts or spaghetti strap tops.
Men/boys should be mindful to remove all headwear before entering the Church.

This is not mean to say a discrimination for those who are poor and are not really able. But for those who can wear clean clothes everyday and can also eat everyday, this is our responsibility to give to God what is due to Him which is our utmost respect and reverence to Him and in His presence in His Sanctuary where He is most present.

PS:

To all of our Papa, Tatay, Lolo, Uncle, happy father's day. πŸ«ΆπŸ’
