Congratulations to the SLMC QC Department of Medicine for emerging as the CHAMPION in the recent "BEAT TO BEAT, WAR OF WITS," the 7th Annual Philippine Heart Center - Department of Adult Cardiology Quiz Bowl, held at the Philippine Heart Center on September 20, 2023, surpassing 29 institutions nationwide!

The St. Luke's Medical Center - Quezon City Department of Medicine is one and united behind the victory our quizzers at the Adrian C. Peña P*P Medical Quiz Contest.

Through the guidance of our coaches Dr. John Tan, Dr. Masbang, and with the immense support from the IM consultant and resident body, our resident team composed of Drs. Jonathan Gorospe, Federico "Dapoy" Peralta, and Frinz Rubio, emerged as CHAMPIONS.

Congratulations to our team, and kudos to the rest of the participating institutions for a hard-fought competition!

Last March 31, 2023, the Department of Medicine Socials Committee hosted its first quarterly get-together, in conjunction with a thanksgiving mass to celebrate the successful examinees of the recently concluded PSBIM.

After the thanksgiving mass, where the department offered its gratitude to the Lord. The get-together kicked off with a round table discussion, followed by a musical performance by our first year residents. Alumni of the department interacted with the residents for a night of songs, laughter, and dance.

We look forward to seeing more of our consultants join us in the next events!

The medical residents enjoyed the Nephrology Bootcamp hosted by the Center for Renal Diseases. Using an "escape room" game format, the medical residents tackled key diagnostics, mental calculations, and reviewed the pathophysiology of an array of renal diseases.
The light blue team emerged victorious with the shortest time to escape.
To our nephrologists, and fellows-in-training, the department is truly grateful for this activity.

The Heart Institute hosted the Cardiology bootcamp for the medical residents. The 3-day bootcamp covered the must-knows in Vascular Medicine, Arrhythmias, and ACS. The medical residents learned beyond-the-basics, emphasizing on clinical identification and prompt management for cardiovascular diseases and its emergencies.

The department congratulates Dr. Frinz Rubio in his medical grand rounds last March 3, 2023, entitled "PARADOX". Dr. Rubio extensively presented a therapeutic dilemma in a 38-year-old male with HIV/AIDS, simultaneously diagnosed with Axial Spondyloarthritis, and IgA Nephropathy.
We would like to extend our thanks to our moderator: Dr. Shiela Reyes, and to the sections of Rheumatology, Nephrology, and Infectious Disease for a high-yield discussion of the case.
