Join us in emphasizing the importance of infection prevention and control for a healthier future.

It is with heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a cherished member of our community and a dedicated leader in the field of Infection Prevention and Control.
Ms. Evengileta “Vangie” A. America's contributions in the Philippine Hospital Infection Control Society (PHICS) Inc. have left an indelible mark on our organization.

Her unwavering commitment to promoting health and safety in healthcare settings has touched countless lives, leaving a legacy that will endure for years to come. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ms. America will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to improving the quality of care for all.

As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the remarkable life of
Ms. America and the profound impact she has had on our lives and the lives of those she served. May her memory be a blessing and may she rest in eternal peace.

❗️Philippine Hospital Infection Control Society (PHICS) Advisory❗️

An acute respiratory tract infection can be caused by either virus or bacteria which are expelled by an infected person in droplets of saliva or mucous. The COVID-19 virus is an RNA virus which constantly mutates but four times slower than the seasonal flu. At present, there are no current evidence which shows that the present variant could cause severe to critical COVID-19 infection. Thus, the present variant, called the FLiRT variant, poses low public health risk. But we must not be complacent of the situation. Let us continue to monitor and track the disease, as we are concerned with the vulnerable population. Regardless of the etiologic agent, it is important to observe the following precautions:

✅️ FREQUENT HAND HYGIENE
✅️ OBSERVE COUGH ETIQUETTE
✅️ STAY AT HOME WHEN SICK
✅️ WEAR MASK IN CROWDED OR POORLY VENTILATED AREAS
✅️ GET VACCINATED
✅️ SEEK CONSULT BEFORE TAKING ANTIMICROBIALS
