Our Batch 2 of Quezon City finished their first in-person coaching session at the American Center in the U. S. Embassy.

The first session speakers were composed of SPARK! Philippines Trustee, Ms. Boots Garcia who discussed funding of entrepreneurial ventures, followed by AWE Alumni Prof. Chona Abeledo and Ms. Nicole Tanael's journey in growing their businesses and empowering women.

It was definitely an insightful session for our AWEpreneurs!

Women fight barriers every single day from gender stereotypes, less networking opportunities to meet people, bias and discrimination just by the basis of s*x, and the lack of workplace flexibility especially for mothers but they always deliver their work.

During the inaugural session of the at Quezon City University, participants delved into the essentials of hair care, gaining a deep understanding of different hair types and characteristics under the expert guidance of Michael Indon. This session was part of a comprehensive four-week program designed to empower the participants by equipping them with skills in beauty, confidence building, and digital content creation.

The Digital Beauty Academy is an innovative beauty and social media entrepreneurship program, developed in partnership with SPARK! Philippines, Quezon City University, L'Oréal Groupe, Watsons, and TikTok.

We are thrilled to announce the successful launch of the second batch of the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) on August 30 at Quezon City Hall.

Twenty-five remarkable AWEntrepreneurs have officially embarked on their journey, beginning with an engaging program orientation and kick-off event.

We were joined by distinguished guests, including QC Mayor Joy Belmonte, US Embassy to the Philippines Director of Public Engagement Della Harreland, QC SBCDPO Head Mona Celine Yap, SPARK! Philippines Trustee and Treasurer Ma Aurora "Boots" Geotina-Garcia, SPARK! Philippines Executive Director Maica Teves, AWE QC Batch 1 Graduate, Everly Aguilar, owner of Simot Sarap Chicken Wings, and Challani An, current AWE student and Co-owner of ANYU Handicrafts.

In the 2023 Global Gender Gap Report, the Philippines ranks 30th out of 146 countries in the Political Empowerment Subindex. This data shows the gender inequality in our political spaces that must be addressed, especially with the Senate and House of Representatives only having 13% and 27% of women lawmakers, respectively as per a local news article.

Batch 2 of the Digital Beauty Academy (DBA) Makati is now open!

The four-week training program is open to residents 18 years old and above who are interested in learning about beauty, confidence building, and digital content creation. The program provides earning opportunities to graduates by utilizing the power of beauty, education, and digital platforms as enablers of livelihood and women’s economic empowerment.

The Makati is in partnership with Mayo Abby Binay and the Local Government of Makati City, L'Oréal Groupe Philippines, TikTok, and SPARK! Philippines.

Classes will start on September 7, and spots are limited, so register now by scanning the QR code!

Founded in 2012, SPARK! or Samahan ng mga Pilipina para sa Reporma at Kaunlaran (Alliance of Filipino Women for Reform and Progress) is a non-governmental organisation that focuses on the protection of women’s rights, promotion of gender equality, and advancement of women’s economic and political roles.

It acts as a partner alongside other organisations in order to tackle problems and address women’s needs more effectively while engaging men, youth, and local communities to advocate for women’s issues.

Our Mission

To primarily promote gender and development (GAD) and advance its philosophy through gender mainstreaming by not only integrating gender issues into the mainstream but to transform the mainstream into being more receptive and conducive to GAD goals.
