Galeria NAVE is deeply pleased to announce the representation of the Spanish artist Sonia Navarro. Bienvenida! 🚀
Her first exhibition at the gallery, ‘SEMPRE’ will be open Thursday, November 7th at 6pm during Lisbon Art Weekend. Come and visit the extraordinary series of new works developed for the show and also, meet the artist personally during the guided tours Friday and Saturday.

Sonia Navarro (b. 1975 Puerto Lumbreras, Spain), learned sewing and tailoring from her grandmothers, before getting a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and an MFA in Photography. She has been awarded several prizes and scholarships such as the Rome Scholarship and the Visual Arts and Photography Award by the Spanish Minister of Culture. She has presented her work individually in national and international galleries and exhibited in countless museums and exhibition halls. In addition, her work is permanently present in important art collections and institutions such as the Mariano Yera Collection, Kells Collection, Community of Madrid Collection or the Ministry of Culture and Foreign Affairs Collection (Reina Sofia Museum), among others.

For more than a decade, through different means of expression, such as sculpture, installation, photography and drawing, Navarro has been creating works that challenge and confront the mechanisms of power and its institutions, especially those that have contributed to the establishment of a hierarchy between genders, relating women to domestic work and the impossibility of mobility, reflecting on the constant struggle of women against established social conventions.
