🕵️Let's look at one of the common shoulder conditions that is often confused with frozen shoulder.
❗A SLAP tear is an injury to the labrum of the shoulder. The labrum is a ring of cartilage that surrounds your shoulder joint. SLAP stands for superior labrum anterior and posterior. This means your labrum is torn at the top in both the front (anterior) and back (posterior) of where it attaches to the biceps tendon.
📲Swipe to find out more of what causes SLAP tears and it's symptoms.
📌There are many classifications if SLAP tears but the most common one is Type 2. In Type 2, the superior labrum is completely torn off the glenoid (socket part of the ball-and-socket shoulder joint), due to an injury (often a shoulder dislocation). This type leaves a gap between the cartilage and the labral attachment to the bone. Type 2 SLAP tears can be further subdivided into front or back or both lesions.
🤔How does Kang Liang Chiropractic Care help individuals recover from a SLAP tear?
💫When the joints of the shoulder are stiff or fixated, they can irritate the ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves associated with the misaligned area. If it is a long standing issue, there will be compensation from surrounding structures like the neck and upper back. During your initial consultation at Kang Liang Chiropractic Care, we will do a physical examination- posture, range of motions, strength testing. After that we will do some soft tissue work or massage on muscles involved and determine if a specific chiropractic adjustment to the shoulder, neck or upper back is necessary. In addition, stretches/exercises will be prescribed to help balance these areas.
😊Message us to find out more on what can we do for you!

🦵Exercises that focus on building up the muscles surrounding the knee are important for keeping it strong enough to safely take on a person's body weight as well as the stopping and starting motions that happen in sports.
🔩Stretching those muscles is equally important and aids in the rehabilitation of the ACL after injury. These muscles need to be pliable enough to allow the joint to move through a full range of motion and strong enough to support them.

🔎Studies show that progressive exercise programs are a key component to ACL injury recovery. Additionally, people who utilize ACL stretching regimes in recovery see a significant improvement compared with those who do not.

🤔Most people who have knee pain after sports or any activity that resulted in a knee injuty will always say this: "I think it's my ACL." So what exactly is this ACL injury?
📌The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) are inside the knee joint. These ligaments connect the thigh bone (femur) and the large bone of the lower leg (tibia) at the knee joint. The ACL and PCL form an "X" inside the knee that stabilizes the knee against front-to-back or back-to-front forces. An ACL injury does not occur gradually, but instead usually happens suddenly. Most often they happen when a person is playing sports and jumps, stops suddenly, or makes a sudden change in direction.
🕵️What causes an ACL injury?
Pivoting when the foot is planted firmly
Sudden stops
Cutting or slowing and changing direction suddenly
Landing incorrectly from a jump
Being involved in a collision where the knee is hit or it causes any of the other listed actions
Receiving a direct, sudden, hard hit to the knee
The resulting tear can be minor and small or it can be severe, including a complete tear. In very mild cases, the ligament may be overextended but still intact.
📲Swipe to see the common symptoms of an ACL tear
💫How Kang Liang Chiropractic care can help with your ACL injury is going to depend on the severity of your injury. We may apply gentle manipulation or mobilization to the knee joint to restore joint motion and functionality of the knee. This process may be able to deliver substantial relief and faster healing with ACL sprains.
👍It’s important to note that in both cases of torn and sprained ACL, we are able to restore proper knee function and help with the healing process!

👍Gamer's Thumb or De Quervain syndrome is the inflammation of two tendons that control movement of the thumb and their tendon sheath. The extensor pollicis brevis and abductor pollicis longus muscles are muscles that pull the thumb away from the hand and palm. Tendons are bands of fascia that transmit force from muscle to bone.
😣An injury to the tendons can be painful and result in a loss of function and pinch strength. In more serious cases, these injuries are caused by accidents or falls.
📲Swipe to see the symptoms of having De Quervain syndrome
Causes
.
While the direct cause of De Quervain’s Syndrome remains unclear, there are several common factors that lead to this syndrome.
.
Repetitive strains to the tendon is among the most popular cause for De Quervain’s syndrome today. People who spend long hours on their tablet and mobile phones, texting day and night without proper rest. This often leads to weakness and pain at the base of the thumb.
👶Mothers who have recently delivered their baby can also have this condition. Actions like carrying the baby and nursing combined with hormonal changes around pregnancy causes sore or inflamed tendons. This puts them more at risk on getting De Quervain syndrome
Prevention
.
As most of the De Quervain’s Syndrome is due to repetitive strain injuries, the most effective way to prevent the condition is to make a conscious change of ounr daily activities that involve the using of our thumb. Anything that requires strong, repetitive grasping, pinching, pressing, movement should be done with resting intervals.
.
🤳 Take a break from playing video games from time to time, be it gaming from console or gaming using your phone. For mothers, it’s good to prepare your milk in a bottle and let your babies drink it in their cradle so your hand get to rest.
💫Seek chiropractic treatment from us to get your De Quervain’s Syndrome treated as soon as possible! @ Singapore

😯Did you know that when you’re born, your spine contains 33 individual vertebrae. But as we age, some of them fuse together. In fact, five vertebrae that make our sacrum become one bone and the coccygeal vertebrae fuse together as one, which forms the tailbone.

🏌️One of the best prevention methods for Golfer's elbow is to warm up before you golf or do any activities that requires using the wrist. Stretch your shoulders, arm, and back before each session.
📲Swipe for some stretches to help you if you are suffering from Golfer's elbow.
📌Do these exercises before and after any activity that causes stress or strain. Be gentle and don’t force any of the movements
😣You may experience sensations, aches, and slight discomfort while doing these exercises, but it shouldn’t go beyond that.

,🏌️Golfer’s elbow is also quite similar to tennis elbow, the only real differences being, as with posterior tennis elbow, the location of the pain and the activities/motions that cause it. With golfer’s elbow, instead of the outside or back or the elbow being affected, it’s the inside of the elbow that is.
📌With golfer’s elbow, a person may feel a shooting pain down the inside of their forearm as they’re trying to grip an object.
Golfer’s elbow can be caused by a single violent jolt, but more often it is a form of repetitive stress injury, in which pain develops gradually over time as the repetitive actions continue being taken and the condition, untreated, worsens.
⛳Obviously golfers are particularly susceptible to this condition but so are other types of people, some not even athletes – such as a “weekend carpenter” who uses hand tools.
💭Causes may be
Sports such as golf, weightlifting or “throwing sports” (e.g. javelin, shot put)
Manual work such as painting, hammering, repairing cars and chopping wood
Working at a computer
Cooking (e.g. chopping or peeling)
So although golfer’s elbow may in fact come from playing golf, in most cases it has nothing to do with this sport.
👉While Golfer’s Elbow is an overuse injury, and the elbow pain may sideline you for a short time(be it playing golf/sports or with daily activitie), we know that it won’t keep you off the course. It is important to rest the injury until elbow pain subsides.
✨We will normally assess the elbow, wrist, neck and shoulders. Stiffness in the neck/shoulder may cause imbalances in the muscles of the forearm and wrist, contributing to Golfer’s Elbow. The results will determine what kind of soft tissue therapy and if a specific chiropractic adjustment or mobilization to the elbow or wrist is necessary.

🔷The TMJ is a joint that acts as a hinge in connecting your jawbone to the skull. While everyone has a TMJ, not everyone has TMJ dysfunction.
🔸Common symptoms of TMJ syndrome or dysfunction include pain in the jaw, clicking or locking of the jaw, and difficulty chewing. As the pain gets more severe, it is important to receive professional treatment in order to relieve pain.
🔹The following exercises can help strengthen and stretch your jaw muscles to train them to move correctly without causing pain.

⚙️Your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a hinge that connects your jaw to the temporal bones of your skull, which are in front of each ear. It lets you move your jaw up and down and side to side, so you can talk, chew, and yawn.
‼️All of this can cause TMJ disorders.
-Grinding or clenching your teeth, which puts a lot of pressure on the joint

-Movement of the soft cushion or disc between the ball and socket of the joint

-Arthritis in the joint

-Stress, which can cause you to tighten facial and jaw muscles or clench the teeth

👇Symptoms of TMJ Disorders can be:

1. pain on both or one side of the jaw at the TMJ
2. general face/jaw pain, usually located just in front of the ear or lower portion of jaw
3. discomfort around the ear
4. clicking/cracking of the jaw that could be painful.

👉Severe TMJ disorders can make it difficult to chew your food and sleeping could become painful.

✨Chiropractic Care with us

The method that we use to treat TMJ patients is to perform a series of physical examinations, active muscle release and some soft tissue work will be done on patient's cheeks, neck and in some cases the upper back as well. This is often followed by a TMJ manipulation or mobilization technique.

A goal of therapy is to reduce scar tissue, reduce pain and to improve range of motion at the jaw. Advice will also be given in retraining your jaw muscles and incorporating relaxation techniques to use at home.

👉If you are or know of someone who are having these symptoms, share this to them or message us to book a consultation and treatment session!

About me.

Hi, my name is Jinghan and I'm a chiropractor. My interest in this profession started from a very young age. My dad was a chinese bone-setter and I would drop by his clinic when I was a boy. Listening and seeing how patients got from needing knee or back surgery to full recovery after visiting my dad always left me in awe. If I didn't know any better, I thought my dad was a magician! Due to his influence, I became very interested in the human body and its bio-mechanics. After serving my military conscription, I enrolled in Bachelor of Chiropractic Science at Macquarie University located in Sydney. Even though there were long hours of theory and practical skills lessons, I loved every minute of it. I continued on pursuing a Master of Chiropractic, which nurtured me to combine both my knowledge and skills to provide treatments for real life patients. Whenever I came back for my summer holidays, I would shadow my dad to observe and learn his techniques as well. Now that I'm a full fledged chiropractor, I'm excited to help my patients treat the roots of their pain, achieve their goals and bring out the fullest potential in them!
