If you dont want to spend the money on equipment or a gym membership, there are plenty of ways to target your muscles without either.
You may have heard of the notorious plank, but did you know about side planks? They're great for working out obliques, the muscles that run along your core and also some of the hardest muscles to tackle. You'll definitely feel the soreness after a couple of reps.
One of my clients doing concentration curls--you can see the look of concentration on his face too.
Fun fact: a recent study by the American Council on Exercise found that the seated concentration curl yielded 97% bicep activity in contrast to EZ-bar curls.
The sole reason why seated concentration curls prove most effective, is because you’re able to completely isolate your bicep muscle group in this exercise, hence the name "concentration curl."
This strange-looking machine is called a rowing machine. It's a total body workout that's good for people of all fitness levels to build power and endurance efficiently with low impact as compared to running or jogging on the treadmill. I like to have varieties in my warmup, and incorporating the rowing machine is one of them.

On this episode of , I've invested in a Theragun from ! This is a one-of-a-kind percussive massager, great for myofascial release, soreness from a workout or just muscle aches from sitting at the desk all day.
Unlike typical massagers which work by vibration, this massager will pound those sore spots away, perfect for those hard to reach knots and both pre- and post-workout routines.
I've been using a lacrosse ball for the longest time, but it's difficult to reach certain spots. With the ergonomic, patented design of the Theragun, I don't have that issue anymore. 🙌

Wow, it's been a long week, but I'm back!
Here I am demonstrating the low cable fly to one of my clients. This exercise works out the clavicular head of the pec muscle. Depending on personal height the cables should be adjusted to be aligned with the muscle fibers of the clavicular head.

The chest fly (or pec deck) machine is often overlooked in the weight room because there are so many different ways to work the chest. But it is a great way for both beginners and those with experience to target the pectoralis muscles without worrying about the balance required for example the barbell or dumbbells. It's also a useful machine for those with lower body injuries who need to avoid standing.

The best way to learn and motivate yourself to exercise is to have someone in your life support you. Whether it's family making sure you're eating healthier at home, or friends willing to spot you, make sure you have someone who will have your back!
Health is not about the weight you lose, but the life you gain.
People who are naturally thin but don't take care of their bodies are as unhealthy as those who are bigger on the outside. We call these TOFI (thin on outside, fat on inside).

Don't worry about what other people might be thinking. What's important is that you focus on yourself. Everyone was once in your shoes and had to start somewhere.
"To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art."
Working out and exercising is only half the battle. It is easier to train the body than it is to train the mind to eat healthy. You don't have to eat super clean and lean straight off the bat. To make it easier, start with smaller portion sizes and cutting down some of your fat, oil, salt, and sugar intake. Find healthier alternatives to what you're already eating in order to accustom your mind and body to less junk food.
It's ok, bro. The girls don't appreciate how much you can lift, but the guys sure do. Keep grinding. 👏👏👏

Introducing Yusuke! One of the best things about being a personal trainer is meeting people from all walks of life and from every part of the world. 🎌🇸🇬
Here, Yusuke is performing kneeling unilateral side lats pull down. Unilateral means that he is just working out one half of his body in this exercise. This is activating the back, biceps, laterals (hence the name, duh), and trap muscle groups. 💪

Meet Jacob, one of my clients. He is an older gentleman who is recovering from hip surgery due to falling from a height, but he's still putting in his best effort. Here, he is performing crunches with the VIPR (the big tube thing), which is working out his upper abdominals.
To properly do this exercise, make note of these things:
💎Shoulder blades off ground
💎Avoid pushing neck forward during every repetition
💎Keep tension throughout the set
Jacob's a funny guy and is a great example of having to not workout, so keep a lookout for more posts on him!

Did you know that today is Earth Day? Maintaining your health is important, but keeping the planet we live on healthy is important too. Take a second to enjoy the view and appreciate what we have.
It feels like Singapore is getting hotter, which makes night walks the best.
Even if you can't put in the effort for an hour to workout, walking every day has proven benefits, such as:
👣Preventing heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes
👣Improving cardiovascular fitness
👣Strengthening your bones and muscles
👣Improving muscle endurance
It's time to get off the phone 📵 and hit the weights 🏋️♀️. The hardest part about working out is starting. (And I guess maintaining your routine and the soreness the day after suck too...🤣)
No one's expecting you to learn how to lift in a day, or even a week or a month. Gymming is all about constantly learning to improve yourself. Everyone has to start somewhere.
