Steamed Tapioca with Coconut Cream (Mum Chium)
While there are many variations of desserts using tapioca in local and Asian cuisine, the Thais have a simple yet satisfying steamed tapioca dessert that is served with coconut cream (Mum Chium).
At Yhingthai, what makes our tapioca dessert unique lies in our cooking method to give the tapioca a soft, yet sticky and slightly chewy texture. The tapioca which is bathed in a sugar solution is nicely balanced out with our home made fresh coconut cream.

🍛 While Thai Dry Curry (Pa Nang) is lesser known in Thai cuisine as compared to the Thai Green Curry (Gaeng Keow Wan), it is definitely as flavourful and interesting a dish.
Panang is a thick curry that emphasises salty and sweet flavours. It does not have the watery consistency like the Green Curry, hence, its given Dry Curry name.
As with all curries served at Yhingthai, the curry paste used for our rendition of Panang is homemade and contains as many as 10 ingredients.
Do give this dish a try the next time you visit Yhingthai, to try something different.

These vegetarian options feature the use of fresh vegetables and no gluten, tofu or dairy is used.
For easy reference, we have come up with a short menu to highlight these dishes.

🍧Thai Red Ruby (Tup Tim Krob) is a classic dessert in Thai cuisine that may just be as popular as the Mango Sticky Rice and is sold in almost every Thai food establishment.
What makes the Yhingthai rendition so special then?
1. Instead of using canned ones, we peel fresh water chestnuts and coat them in tapioca starch before boiling them. The fresh water chestnuts give an added satisfying crunch.
2. Freshly squeezed coconut milk is used, rather than the packet ones to give a more natural aroma and richness.
3. We make our own syrup infused with pandan. The pandan flavours give added fragrance to the dessert.
Don’t forget to try this on a hot day!

🥗 Our Pomelo Salad (Yum Som Oh) is a refreshingly sweet and savoury appetiser, made from ingredients specially sourced from different locations in Ratchburi and Malaysia.
We use fresh pomelo from Thailand and during certain seasons, we source them from Ipoh.
Palm sugar, a key ingredient used in making the dressing for the salad comes from a coconut plantation in Amphawa. This palm sugar has a unique floral and sweet fragrance.
Coconut from Malaysia is freshly shredded and toasted to give enhanced aromas and richness.
Lastly, fresh boiled shrimp from Pontian gives nice firm texture and an added layer to the dish.

🥭 Mango Sticky Rice 🍚
Thai cuisine is famous for many desserts, but none carries recognition like the Mango Sticky Rice.
Steamed glutinous rice is drenched in a home made fresh coconut milk mixture and served with Thai honey mango.
The sweet, fragrant and sometimes slightly tangy flavours of the mango pairs beautifully with the luscious sticky rice, without being cloyingly sweet.
We can see why this is a hit with everyone!

✨The Olive Fried Rice is a dish that shares roots in Thai and Chinese cuisine. At Yhingthai, we make our own olive paste where preserved black Chinese olives are used.
While the fried rice is essentially salty by itself, it is complemented with a variety of condiments to give more depth to the overall taste and flavours 😋
Sweet Chicken Strips - Gives a balanced sweetness
Fresh Lime Cubes, Shallots & Cut Fresh Chillies - Provide a zesty, sour with a kick of spice
Dried Shrimps - Added umami

🌊 Steamed Grouper with Chopped Chilli, Lime and Garlic (Pla Nerng Manao)
While sounding fairly simple, our rendition of the Pla Nerng Manao is far from that.
Apart from using freshly chopped chilli and garlic, we add cilantro roots for enhanced aromatics.
Freshly squeezed lime juice and fish sauce are used as seasoning, resulting in a dish that accentuates the firm texture of grouper while melding its natural flavours with a spicy and zesty punch.

One of the most classic and recognised Thai dishes is the Thai Papaya Salad (Som Tum).

You may find several variations of the dish throughout Thailand and the style we serve at Yhingthai is known as Som Tum Thai - where roasted peanuts and dried shrimps are used.

This dish is not only full of natural flavour, it contains vitamins and the enzyme papain which is known to help improve digestion and reduce inflammation.

Every Som Tum we serve is prepared upon order to ensure freshness and crispness in the papaya without over soaking the juices.
