The word "cancer" covers around 200 different types of disease, which makes it highly unlikely there will ever be a magic cure for them all.

When the Singapore Cancer Registry (SCR) began tracking population-based cancer trends in 1968, the cancer survival rate was some 18 per cent. Today, the cancer survival rate has grown to almost 60 per cent , according to CNA 18 Feb 2022.

With the advancements in cancer treatment and medical research, many cancers once considered death sentences can now be cured, and for many more people their cancers can now be treated effectively. The success of the treatments depends on many different variables including the attitude of the patient, the stage of detection, holistic care and more.
