On August 23rd, we gathered to honour the outstanding achievements of our graduating Class of 2023-24 at the Global School Awards Ceremony. It was an evening filled with celebration, reflection, and inspiration as we recognised the hard work and dedication of our students.

We were privileged to have Dr. Shoumo Mitra, Director of R&D APAC at Corteva, as our chief guest. With his vast experience and remarkable contributions to the world of science, Dr. Mitra left our students with valuable insights and motivation for their future journeys. 🧑‍🎓✨

🌟✨ Jhankaar 2024: Dancing Like the Stars! ✨🌟

This year’s Jhankaar event was an incredible celebration of talent, creativity, and diversity in the performing arts, particularly dance! 🎶💃

With the theme "Dancing like the Stars," we witnessed students express themselves through a mesmerizing array of dance forms, from freestyle to traditional classical. Over 350 students from 7 international and local schools wowed us with their performances across four categories: Sub-Junior, Junior, Sub-Senior, and Senior. 🌍🌟

The competition was fierce, but our external professional judges, experts in various dance styles, made sure the most outstanding performances were recognized. 🏆🎉

A huge congratulations to all the participants for showcasing their talent and creativity. You truly danced like the stars! 🌟💫

🏏 GIIS (PG) Cricket Team Shines at Mariners Junior Cup! 🏆

Our GIIS (PG) cricket team had a fantastic outing at the Mariners Junior Cup on Friday, 23rd August, at the West Coast Ground. The team displayed incredible skill and determination, defeating the Singapore National Cricket Academy in an intense match. A special shoutout to Anirudh Praveen, who was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.

Despite narrowly losing to NPS in fading light late in the day, our team fought valiantly till the very end. Shlok Pant took home the Player of the Match award in this thrilling encounter.

The team and individual medal winners were honoured by none other than Legendary Australian Captain Steve Waugh himself! 🏅🎖️ A truly unforgettable moment for our talented players.

We are incredibly proud of our GIIS cricket team for their dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Keep shining, champs! 🌟

🌟 PYP Assembly Highlights: Learning, Unity, and National Pride! 🌟

In our latest PYP assembly, our students showcased their learning from the second unit of inquiry, delivering engaging performances and presentations that left us all inspired! ✨

Grade 1 students kicked things off with a meaningful play about public spaces, reminding us of the importance of keeping these areas clean and safe for everyone. 🏞️

Grade 2 followed with powerful messages on saving endangered animals, sharing practical ways we can all help protect these species. 🐾

Grade 4 students took us on a journey through children's rights, introducing us to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and inspiring us with stories of young activists. 🌍✊

Finally, Grade 5 wowed us with their insights on forces in our daily lives, helping us understand how gravity, friction, and more shape the world around us. ⚙️

The assembly also held a special place in our hearts as we celebrated National Day together. Students and teachers joined voices to sing the National Day Parade song and the Singapore National Anthem, bringing a beautiful sense of pride and unity to the occasion. 🇸🇬❤️

Our PYP Coordinator shared her inspiring journey of becoming a Singaporean, while our PSPE teacher added a personal touch by reflecting on his experience in National Service. It was a truly memorable day for our school community!

It’s wonderful to see our students shaped by the unique experiences they gain at school. Our alumna Sanskriti, credits GIIS for helping her stay culturally grounded while serving as Cultural Secretary at school.

On August 20th, 2024, we were honoured to welcome Mrs. Divya Singhal, a parent guest speaker and Customer Success Manager at Google Singapore, for an insightful career talk. This event, part of our ongoing Career Talk series, provided a valuable opportunity for students to explore career pathways in the tech industry.

Mrs. Singhal shared her journey in the tech world, emphasising the diverse opportunities it offers—both technical and non-technical. Her talk highlighted how technology shapes our lives and the importance of perseverance and dedication in achieving success. The session featured real-world examples from leading tech apps like Spotify and Amazon, inspiring students to dream big.

The interactive Q&A session fostered meaningful connections between Mrs. Singhal and our aspiring students. A huge thank you to Mrs. Singhal for sharing her expertise and to our Deputy Principal, Ms. Deepika Sodhi, for felicitating her.

🏅 GIIS Smart Campus Punggol recently celebrated its Annual Sports Day at East Coast Campus on 17th August. The event was a vibrant display of sportsmanship, teamwork, and pursuit of excellence!

Highlights included the flag hoisting by Principal Melissa Maria and Guest of Honour Mr. Shyam Dhuleep, a Singaporean track-and-field star, followed by an inspiring welcome speech from the Sports Captain. Students impressed everyone with a march past, an exciting Tug-Of-War competition, and thrilling sprint and relay finals. Parents joined in the fun, and the event concluded with a heartwarming prize distribution and a spectacular Grand Finale performance by students from grades 9 to 12.

The day wrapped up with the national anthems of India and Singapore, marking a successful celebration of sports and unity! 🏅🌟
