Living Hope Methodist Church
VISION:
LIVING OUT OUR HOPE IN CHRIST
MISSION:
WITH EVERY LIFE IN HIS S.T.O.R.Y. In January 1991, the first Sunday service was conducted at St Georges’ Chapel.
Early in 1989, the vision of planting a church was conceived when a group of Wesleyans met regularly for bible study in Tampines. This vision resonated with the Trinity Annual Conference and in August 1989, the Tampines Outreach Project (TOP) was birthed. By November, TOP was approved as a local church and was named Tampines Methodist Church with 42 adult members. In 2001, after seeking the Lord f

Jesus says, "The harvest is plentiful..." & John Wesley states, "Untold millions are still untold". Discuss the implications of these statements, and specifically what your cell group members could do to support the local church strategy of mobilising her members to win the lost, the least and the last?

✝️ Zechariah 8:4
This is what the LORD of Armies says: Old men and old women will again sit in the streets of Jerusalem. Each will have a cane in hand because of old age.
The description of old people in the land is a sign of blessing because the people live long enough to become old.
Zechariah 8:5
The city will be filled with boys and girls playing in the streets.
The LORD declares that births will also happen and the young will fill the streets.
Births increase, lifespan increases and babies and old people exist in larger numbers because of peace and prosperity.
Look around you today - thank God for the peace in our land too. Don’t complain about the noise the kids make, or the elderly needing help.
Take a deep breath, and appreciate it.
It’s a sign of peace and safety in our land.
It’s a blessing to see kids and elderly people around our nation.

✝️ Zechariah 8:9
Thus says the Lord of hosts: Let your hands be strong, you who in these days have been hearing these words from the mouth of the prophets who were present on the day that the foundation of the house of the Lord of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.
God encourages and affirms those who are building, continuing to do so, since the days they first heard the proclamations of the prophets about this effort.
They are to be strengthened, even whilst in the work is in progress and yet to be completed.
Any building work, be it a physical building or a ministry being built, involves effort and leads to exhaustion so it’s necessary even in the midst of the building to be strengthened in the Lord.
If not, it is possible to lose focus, get distracted, or even become afraid or disappointed and give up.
"Let your hands be strong."

✝️ Zechariah 7.5 ESV
Say to all the people of the land and the priests, When you fasted and mourned in the fifth month and in the seventh, for these seventy years, was it for me that you fasted?
Sadly, though the people participated in religious acts, the faith was only present in gestures but not in their hearts.
So the practice of religiosity did not please God at all.
I remember saying the pledge in school each morning and then again on the morning I was conscripted into the army. No prizes for guessing which recital impacted my heart more.
It was the latter. I was now a conscripted soldier, given arms, to protect my family, my people and my nation.
The former was a routine, the latter was a commitment I made together with other young men, to defend our island nation.
Meditate upon the disciplines you practice, think about the reasons why you do so, refine them, if need be - so that these won’t be empty routines.

Our speaker Rev Joel Yang preached on The Stewardship Series #2: The Parable Of The Shrewd Manager.
🔸Message Reflection:
Read Matthew 25:1 and Luke 19:17. Jesus rewards us, based on our faithfulness in handling what we have been blessed with. The speaker said: "Don't pray for BIG blessings, handle the LITTLE we have well, first." Discuss about how you have handled either your TIME, TALENT, TREASURES (both people and financial) and talk about 1 thing you intend to do - to handle it better in
the coming weeks! Pray together as a group.

✝️ Matthew 5.14-15
14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
The Church is not an institution, cold and devoid of life.
No.
It is a body. The Body in fact.
And thus if it is an organism, it grows.
It certainly grows if you give it air, food, water, sunlight.
A stagnated or declining church doesn't grow, not because it isn't yet God's time for it to do so, and not because it lacks manpower or finance- none of these are biblical answers.
But it doesn't grow because it isn't exposed to the light, given air, food and water to stimulate growth.
People who meet me for the first time are curious as to why I said yes to be a pastor.
Beyond the standard answer of “He called me”- there is this knowledge, that I know what a life awakened to Jesus can be and what an entire community with such faith driven lives can do.
That's why I said yes and why my family makes sacrifices to have a father & husband who is a church pastor. To change lives and see communities changed, by the truth of God’s Word and the power of His Spirit.

✝️ Zechariah 4:7 GW
What a high mountain you are! In front of Zerubbabel you will become a plain. He will bring out the topmost stone with shouts of 'Blessings, blessings on it!'"
Mountains seem impressive until you have climbed them. Then you go away remembering for life that you have navigated your way to that particular mountain's summit before.
If you cross paths with it again, you will just do it one more time.
The mountains before you may seem impressive and formidable- but trust in the Lord and ascend it.
He will make you strong enough to triumph.
You will cross paths with it again in future but by then you will know how to overcome it. That's experience - it’s not measured by years in the job but mountains you have climbed victoriously.
People who fail to do so, walk away from mountains and discourage all others from climbing it. They become naysayers- not because they triumphed but because they failed and gave up.
