What a beautiful way to start my week! Thank you, M, for your kind compliments. It was a joy to work on your home.
By the end of most projects, my clients become my friends. And I enjoy their company just as much as I enjoy designing their homes.
In this case, my client turned friend returned as a client for the second time and designing and styling her home was an equally beautiful experience this time around, based on mutual trust and respect. Thank you for placing your faith in me again, R.S. Wishing you every joy in the refreshed space.
What a difference!! Is it even the same room? You’ll be surprised how much difference natural light can make!
Earlier the entrance to this study was flanked by two massive old fashioned accordion style doors. Not only did it restrict natural light, but it took up precious floor space. We mercilessly ripped out these doors and installed in it’s place clear modern sliding doors and to add some character, we made it barn style. Not only did it immediately brighten up the whole place, but also makes the room look more spacious. We changed the rug and added a couple of lamps. That’s it… that’s all it took…can you believe your eyes that it’s the same space?

If you ever doubted the value of flooring, here’s proof of all the difference it can make. Before : Same balcony with faux grass. After: With beautiful floor tiles that makes all the difference. Swipe left to see the before.
How does one improve on a gorgeous space that we had designed a few years ago? By changing the flooring, adding some beautiful botanical art prints, lush palms and eclectic garden decor. Tell us what you think of the upgrade.

Now, for a quick glass of champagne 🥂
Before and After! : This guest bedroom already had everything. We just needed to add some colour and personality into the room. The first thing we did was to colour the room. Our client is fond of pastels, so we went with a versatile baby blue. And we paired it with the gold accents that the client alreasy had. We added a plush bench, a beautiful coastal rug and a gorgeous custom made roman blind that made all the difference! Swipe to view the transformation .
This master bedroom was spacious and serene to begin with. But we wanted to add some personality to the room while maintaining the serenity and spacious feeling. We retained the bed as it was in good condition and was in a neutral tone anyway. Next we added this beautiful custom mural wall paper which instantly gave this space a calming tropical sanctuary vibe. The bedside ceiling lamps are an instant floor space saver and adds a modern touch to the room. This Ikea dresser was given a makeover to fit with the overall theme. Nidhi’s workmanship did full justice to my vision for this sideboard. A unique rattan floor lamp, some beautiful tropical art prints and fitting table decor completed the look. Check out the before and after pics and tell us what you think of the transformation in the comments section. Would love to hear what you think.

What makes all the hard work worth the while….a satisfied client ☺️ .
A great way to end 2023 !🎊
Our main objective here was to create a cosy private patio ideal for relaxing and entertaining friends and family. We created a tall barrier of plants along the border…this has a dual purpose. It gives the space a tropical look, but also creates privacy. The comfortable lounge chairs and beautiful tropical print cushions are off set by a striking black and white rug. Swipe left to see the before pictures and tell us what you think of the transformation 🙂 patiodecor
Compared to the living area, the dining room was a narrower space, but we wanted to make the most of it. A mirror was the most natural solution to give it an illusion of space. Instead of going for a new mirror, we got the clients existing mirror up cycled to compliment the beautiful frames of the tropical wall prints. A petite dining table with sleek chairs and the client’s existing bar in the corner completed the look. The first pic is what the space looked like originally. Swipe to view the transformation. Let us know what you think 😊

My clients here are a young couple with two little boys. Their brief to me was simple…firstly they wanted a neutral palette with pops of colour ( I noticed that they were partial to Teal 🙂 ). Most importantly they wanted an open layout with ample room to allow fuss-free movement for their boys. And this is what Om Sweet Home set out to achieve. We selected low seating and kid friendly yet stylish furniture with rounded edges wherever possible. We went with minimal decor and faux plants that will be able to withstand curious energetic little hands 🙂. We got custom made a reversible swing, which can face indoors or the patio, with just a flick of the back rest. All the furniture is new, barring the beloved low TV console which got a new lease of life, with a clever make-over.

The foyer is not just a spot to physically dust off the world’s worries before you ensconce yourself in the comforting embrace of your home, it is also the space that will create the first impression your guests will have of your abode. Your foyer is a window to your home. It is the first sight that greets visitors to your home and gives them an inkling of what’s waiting for them inside. Besides that, you and your family will pass your foyer several times a day, so it’s up to you to make it an interesting route. Check out some of the foyers styles by Om Sweet Home and read about ways in which you can decorate your foyer in my blog “ Creating Lasting First Impressions” - link provided in the bio.

When decorating your bedroom, don’t ignore the corners. There’s a lot you can do to elevate the space and use the room to it’s full potential . My favourite is to add a desk or an arm chair. Have a look at some of our cosy bedroom corners and tell us which one is your favourite.
Motivation Monday: Big bold decor and strong wall colours like forest green, fire engine red, canary yellow, deep grey or a midnight blue are definitely for the faint of heart. Personally I am a huge fan of colour. I love the drama! Unfortunately most people play it safe and stick to neutrals. They are wary of committing to bold colours on their walls. To them, my advice is to take the plunge…you live only once…make it large!
I can’t wait until November to reveal a beautiful bold maximalist house that Om Sweet Home has been working on. Until then, feast your eyes on these beautiful walls for inspiration.

What is your favourite part of your home? For some it’s their kitchen towards which the family gravitates and they spend their time cooking, laughing and sharing stories. For some it’s their balcony, where they like to unwind in nature with a good book and a glass of wine. Tell me what’s your favourite part of your home.

Always a joy when I get feedback like this from clients. Working on this project was sheer pleasure and fulfilling. Thank you P.R.
This master bedroom looked functional and very matter of fact. Our job was to infuse this room with warmth and turn it into a personal sanctuary. Out here too, we relied on the transformative power of wall paper and lighting . The interplay of the classy ikkat motifs, and the pops of blue in our decor has breathed new life into the previously dull bedroom. Swipe left to see the before pics and tell us what you think of this makeover.

This space near the built-up bar looked woefully empty and our brief was to do give it a much needed perk-up.
The first thing we did was give the bar a contemporary look. We did that by swapping the top hanging chunky wooden cabinets to ones with stylish fluted glass doors on the outside and glass shelves on the inside .
Next we created this cosy space for two to kick back and enjoy some cocktails and listen to jazz on a lovely evening . The beautiful sideboard completes the look. Swipe left to see the “before” pics

I feel so proud of this living room and the long way that it has come. It was elegant no doubt, to begin with but was understated…a bit too understated. Our aim was to infuse warmth, colour and personality into this room.
We began by reupholstering the sofa in this gorgeous shade of rust. The Karina Jamrak paintings, the jade green table lamps and the beautiful ikkat wall paper did the rest of the magic. The final touch was this beautiful rust carpet which looks like it was made for this room. I love the interplay of colours and textures in this room!! What about you? Sideboards are one of my favourite go-to elements in interior design. Apart from being a useful storage solution, they add charm, character and sophistication to any room. Here’s the thing…sideboards don’t necessarily have to be confined to the dining room. In fact, I’m a big fan of sideboards in the bedroom or hallways. If you are thinking of adding a sideboard to your home, here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. First consider the overall style of your space and choose a piece that will complement it.
2. Second, think about what you’ll be using the piece for, and make sure to select one with the right storage options to fit your needs.
3. And finally, to ensure that the piece will fit in perfectly, don’t forget to measure your space before you buy.
How do you decorate a sideboard, you ask? You can use it as a display space for decor items like vases, candles, family photos and such like; or use the surface to serve food and drinks at your social gatherings.

Design Conversations - Part 2:
What can be done if you have a structural pillar smack in the middle of your room? Don’t fret …There are several creative ways you can work around it. For instance, if the pillar is in the living room, then use it to create a cosy conversation space for two…ideal for those one on one conversations during a big dinner party. Or you can install some interesting shelving on the pillar to hold your curios from around the world. If you are an avid reader and always running out of space for your many books, a pillar is perfect to convert into a bookshelf. Pillars in any room can be worked to serve you…even in the kitchen. Check it out!
Would love to hear from you for more ideas.

Design Conversations - Part 1. As a stylist, I believe that your home should reflect YOU. Not me. It is a space that mirrors your tastes, who you are, where you come from and where you’re going. I go through great lengths to make sure that all the projects I work on reflect my client’s sensibilities. It’s their abode and I want them to feel connected and rooted to that space. Creating a beautiful space is easy, but making it personal and giving it a sense of home….aah that’s the trick!
I have been asked on several occasions what is my personal style…so here goes…I personally gravitate towards these three styles:
1. A blue and white aesthetic. Anyone who knows me well are aware of my soft corner for blue and white.
2. Tropical interiors. Love love love big green palms set against plush couches, some rattan furniture, British colonial decor…the whole verandah vibe.
3. And lastly, a stylish masculine tan, steel and black aesthetic playing with straight lines and solid bold shapes.
So now you know my personal style. Tell me your’s.
