โMy Budget Day Experienceโ was an eye-opener for Gagan and Nathan (4 Integrity). Last Friday (16 February), with student representatives from other schools and institutions, they witnessed the Budget Statement proceedings โliveโ and engaged with staff from Parliament Secretariat and Ministry of Finance.
Here are their reflections on the insightful experience โฌ
Nathan ๐ฌ This Budget Day Experience has allowed me to learn more in-depth about how the National Budget is planned, considering the different needs of the various age groups and the purposes (Education, Defence, Healthcare etc.) I have gained a deeper appreciation of the various competing tensions need to be factored into decision-making.
Gagan ๐ฌ The grandeur of Parliament House itself was breath-taking and I was filled with adrenaline and reverence being in the building where important national decisions are debated and passed. I was also in awe of Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wongโs emphatic speech which presented a clear roadmap of the budget and the vision of a prosperous Singapore.
