How Deep the Father's Love for Us
Stuart Townsend
How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure.
How great the pain of searing loss –
The Father turns His face away,
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory.
Behold the man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders;
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers.
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished;
His dying breath has brought me life –
I know that it is finished.
I will not boast in anything,
No gifts, no power, no wisdom;
But I will boast in Jesus Christ,
His death and resurrection.
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer;
But this I know with all my heart –
His wounds have paid my ransom.
1 John 4:9-11
God showed his love for us when he sent his only Son into the world to give us life. Real love isn't our love for God, but his love for us. God sent his Son to be the sacrifice by which our sins are forgiven. Dear friends, since God loved us this much, we must love each other.
Dear Lord, on this Good Friday, help us be near your cross, and hold steadfast this act of great love for us. Even in our unworthiness, you embraced us as Your children. Oh that we are redeemed by so high a price, Lord grant us to live worthily of Your saving grace. Help us to have eyes that see your love for those around us, that we may also love them as You do. The great reunion and the magnificent reconciliation of the warring world finds it's hope in You Jesus, bring us together in Your light. As we also in our call to obedience carry our cross to follow You, help us to forgive, help us to commit our spirit unto Your Holy Plan. In the Name of God our Redeeming Father, of God the Saviour Jesus, of God our Comforter the Spirit, Amen.

Communion and Crisis
(From The Good of Giving Up, by Aaron Damiani)
The paradox of Lent is that it creates a spiritual crisis that leads to stronger communion with God and others. This is the "Bright Sadness" that animates our prayers, even if only in the form of tears or groans or old psalms. In Lent, we are vexed by our weakness, feel like aliens in a strange land, and know all too well that this is not good for us to be alone.
As we prepare for Easter, we need new prayer habits to help us confront our isolation, pain, and temptations. As a result, we come to the end of ourselves in the best way possible. This process trains us to cling to Jesus and His church rather than using either as a quick fix for a better life.
When Jesus was praying in the garden of Gethsemane in preparation for the cross, He called His disciples to keep watch with Him rather than withdrawing to sleep (Matthew 26:36-46). Jesus knew that the crisis of His impending death was meant to draw Him into deeper communion with His Father, and He implored His disciples to stay awake with Him, to join Him in that crisis-filled communion. When we pray in Lent, it's almost as if we are hearing that invitation for ourselves, "Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." (Matthew 26:41)
So instead of escaping the heat of crisis and doing what we want, we stay put and keep watch. We grasp hands with Jesus and our fellow Christians and ask the Father to deliver us from evil. By the time we reach Easter morning, our hope in Jesus' resurrection is richly rewarded with joy and thanksgiving.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Dear LORD, help us to watch and wait with you, that in the deepest and darkest moments of our crisis, we experience a long comfort - one that isn't fleeting or instant, but one that is holy and complete, knowing that You are turning our mourning into dancing and every sorrow into joy. Lord, how precious are your thoughts of us, that you help us in Holy gentleness. Help us even now to cling to You, so that your peace and your presence becomes our hope and our security. Carry us forward to the day of Your victory, that we may rejoice, knowing that through the storm, we have deepened our relationship with our Savior!

"The enemy pursues me, he crushes me to the ground; he makes me dwell in the darkness like those long dead. Therefore, my spirit is overwhelmed and weak within me. My heart grows numb within me."
Psalm 143:2-3
"Uncomfortable disciplines of Lent create a spiritual poverty that sweetens and enriches our communion with God. We may naturally fear physical discomfort, but spiritual numbness is far worse. We don't want to miss out on the experience of being weak and dependent and thus spiritually alive in Christ."
- Paraphrase from Adam Damiani, The Good of Giving Up.
"Numbness unacknowledged can lead to a crisis of faith, but noticing numbness is an act of faith. It says, 'I know God is still good, and the problem is that my senses cannot perceive it in this season.'"
- Caroline Saunders
Maligayang kaarawan Sis ,Shirley ! May the Lord be with you always! 🙏 🎈 🎂

No Scar?
- by Amy Carmichael
Hast thou no scar?
No hidden scar on foot, or side, or hand?
I hear thee sung as mighty in the land,
I hear them hail thy bright ascendant star,
Hast thou no scar?
Hast thou no wound?
Yet I was wounded by the archers, spent,
Leaned Me against a tree to die, and rent
by ravening beasts that compassed Me, I swooned:
Hast thou no wound?
No wound, no scar?
Yet as the Master shall the servant be,
And, pierced are the feet that follow Me;
But thine are whole: can he have followed far
Who has no wound nor scar?
Matthew 16:24
Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me."
Lord, forgive us when we have lived a life that idolized safety and convenience that leads us to omission and silent disobedience. Help us to mute out voices that ask us to follow other things and distractions that rob us away from Your glory. Forgive our foolish pride when in our sufferings we dared to steal the focus from You to ourselves. Help us to remember the wounds of the cross born of love, not of pride, and humble us to follow the example of Christ.

"Sin demands to have a man by himself. The more isolated a person is, the more destructive will be the power of sin over him, and the more deeply he becomes involved in it, the more disastrous is his isolation. Sin wants to remain unknown. It shuns the light. In the darkness of the unexpressed it poisons the whole being of the person."
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer
"Practicing Lent is like taking a long bath in the wonderful grace of Jesus."
- Aaron Damiani

BRMC Filipino Ministry
A Brief History by Rev. Jun Equila
The ministry was set up in November 1983 by ROGER HENG through the support of Rev. DAVID WEE. In late 1985 it was passed by Roger and Rev. SNG CHONG HUI to the able leadership of ROBERT CHUA as coordinator of BRMC Filipino Fellowship. We can conclude then that the Fellowship was built on the solid ground.
During the time of Robert the programmed was comprised a wide range of activities like Bible study, outings, visit by guest speakers, guitar and cooking lesson, a seminar discussion on understanding Singaporean-Filipino cultural differences and employer-employee relationships. During anniversary service every November a lively song presentations and testimonies has been presented.
When Robert left Singapore to take up an overseas appointment in Japan he was replaced by his successors ROBERT and LINDA CHEW and was assisted by TED and VIVIEN GOH. After them was ANGELA TAN a Filipino-Chinese working in S'pore who become coordinator for Filipino Ministry. It was in February 2005 when the Filipino Fellowship become a congregation during the time of Pastor In Charge, Rev MALCOLM TAN.
